RCMP stopped a vehicle and seized a number of firearms after an American driver ran the border near Goodlands, Man., Friday afternoon.

Six firearms, more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition and several containers of fuel were found in the cargo area of the van, police said.

RCMP said the vehicle, bearing Wisconsin licence plates, was travelling north on Highway 21 when the driver refused to stop for police.

The Mounties used a spike belt to stop the van, 10 kilometres north of the border in an area roughly 60 kilometres east of the Manitoba-Saskatchewan border.

Police said the driver was not driving erratically or speeding during the chase.

The RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit was called to the scene after officers approaching the vehicle detected the odour of gas.

Some of your average truckers make a few extra bucks bringing in fire arms to be sold to our undesirables...who knows - it's possible that even black operatives ship hand guns into Canada - the American intelligence service has been destablizing nations with illegal weapons for years. What make you think that the Americans would treat us with kindness and NOT do this to us? The other thing - there is no will in law enforcement to stop weapons trafficers from creating "buisness" for crimminals and the judicary? A couple of years ago I found a cell phone - it had a bunch of pictures...

The photos consisted of brown guys posing with a pistol in each hand, pointing into the lens gangster style - that last picture was of a table with at least 15 high performance hand guns on a table that were set up for sale - the phone battery went dead by the time I did "the right thing" and dropped it off at a Toronto east end police station - They were not interested in what I had to offer - they said they were not equipped to charge the battery and look - I got one small call from a detective a day latter - and no follow up. What insulted me most was the officer at the desk - a big blue eyed blonde fellow who smiled at me like I was some sort of do gooder fool...
