bush_cheney2004
Yeah I'm sure the patriot act and other clear violations of the Constitutions were exactly what the forefathers would have applauded... are you this much of a cretin? If it was good enough for Lincoln and FDR, it's good enough for me. you see, BC, this is why your country is heading over the cliff... you (like too many americans) are simply out of touch with reality. You take for granted the precarious safety given you by generations of complex and difficult statecraft, and also take for granted that america can only get better, not worse... you only think in a timeframe that goes back 4 years and, look ahead in a time frame of the next 1 or two years... you have no ability to understand your past and how you got here, and hence no ability to navigate your future. Look...you already live in a fallen Empire (Pax Britannia). There is not much downside even if what you say is true (it isn't). A "fallen America" will just be a bloated version of those that have gone before and emerged just fine (Britain, Germany, France, Spain, Japan, etc.) you don't understand how fragile freedom is... Jefferson would have warned you (probably in vain) that "the price of Freedom is eternal vigilance" and really, what understanding do ordinary americans have of this? None whatsoever. How vigilant are your credit card abusing, beer swilling American idol watching idiots who constitute the MAJORITY of the American electorate? How many of them even know the rough outlines of the constitution? How many can situate Korea on a map? How many even know anything about Adams, Jefferson et al.? That's part of the deal....the freedom not to even give a damn about knowing such things. Remember, America was able to fight the Cold War and have Elvis too. We also had 31 flavors of ice cream. You permit 13 to 20 million illegal aliens to squat in your country, destroy the social fabric, cost BILLIONS in taxes, run your hospitals and schools down into the ground, and also invite the possibility of violent rioting and revolution in your country... that's right you actually WILLINGLY invited the prospect of having a piece of your territory (the land your forefathers settled) broken off and given to a FOREIGN GOVERNMENT. Bullpuckey....that's how the nation was built. Even had a grand Civil War. In Canada, you're still having an internal pissing contest with actual citizens in Quebec. You turn your republic into an empire: a hated and ill-stared empire that is inviting the prospect of terrorism and nuclear war... You turn a capitalist system with a well run gold and silver standard currency system, to have it replaced with trading stamps that are intrinsically worthless. Great Depression occurred with the gold standard. Cold War makes current circumstances quite trivial in comparison. We scrap more nuclear weapons than they will ever make. You turn a capitalist and free economy, that once operated under the principle that the government must be tied down to ONLY essentials: national defense and property rights, to a huge communistic socialist welfare state, with taxes that would have scandalized Americans even 60 years ago... Tax rates are actually lower...much lower. Would the forefathers or even americans from the 50's tolerated the prospect of having a large number of people in a territory with intentions on that territory? no no... I don't think they would have been quite so stupid as modern americans... You are not qualified to know such things. Don't you know what the very term "territory" means in American Manifest Destiny? You don't even realize that you ahve passed the point of no return and that you are now living under a dictatorship and tyranny as absolute as any known on earth. Sure beats the good old days when I would have been a slave. If you haven't noticed that fact, it is only because the tyrants have not yet used their power over you. I am one of the tyrants. It is good to be king. Obambo has more power than Mao ever had--more, because Mao did not have the means of electronic surveillance and record-keeping that "your" Federal government is now using, and Mao, furthermore, could not change the long notorious inefficiency and ineptitude of all Communist governments. Obama will be gone, just like all the rest. When is your next election in Canada? B.O.'s tyrannical powers, moreover, are entirely legal, as legality now goes in the country your parents and grandparents discarded in fits of idiocy, smug self-righteousness and complacency. I like legal....interned citizens of Japanese descent did not. By one of those progressive innovations in democratic governments that make me laugh cynically when I hear American simpletons talking as though they had a Constitution or a fairy godmother, remember that "Tricky Dicky" Nixon was empowered to issue in 1969 Executive Order 11,490, which became the Law of the Land sixty days later, when the Congress failed to use its theoretical power to annul it within that space of time. Get a copy of that order, read it, and shudder. Three branches of government....guess you didn't watch Schoolhouse Rock on Saturday morning TV in Canada. but who cares right - why be vigilant when you can charge up a 52 inch LCD boob tube on your credit card and 30 pack of natural light beer? 60 inch plasma...but who's counting. your ancestors would have said of you, that it would have been far better had you never been born... True, but for an entirely different set of reasons. In summary, America does not exist to live up to your cockeyed expectations or fantasies from across the border...any border. It was born of war and thrived on more of the same. America's dynamic highs and lows fueled the engine of liberty, in whatever form that may take, from slavery to abortions on demand. I'd rather have an illegal alien risking his/her life to get to that reality than the approval of your xenophobic judgements.

sharkman
Way to go BC. The post you responded to was so off base that it embarrassed the poster. But for those youngsters who don't know any better and believe everything they read, you just schooled the hell out of it.

I'd rather have an illegal alien risking his/her life to get to that reality than the approval of your xenophobic judgements. How disconnected you are from reality... Its as if you never read the federalist papers... In 1787, in the second of The Federalist Papers, John Jay gave thanks that "Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people, a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs . . . ." This is not exactly a celebration of diversity, Jay gives thanks to the fact that america is and should continue to be a HOMOGENEOUS people. Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Paine, and Thomas Jefferson were all explicit about wanting the United States to be a white country, and in 1790 the first federal naturalization law required that applicants for citizenship be "free white persons." BC, you're simply out of touch with any reasonable approach of what it means to be American.. and what is america .and the fact that you yourself are an american serves as a perfect illustration of your countries current quandary. Xenophobic? thirdworld-phobic perhaps... but clearly you're not even challenging the fact that illegal aliens are posing a clear threat to the United States. They run the cost of running the country way up and in the long wrong will cause disastrous consequences (in the form of life quality drops, lower wages, higher taxes, division, racial and cultural tensions etc). And risking their lives? the border patrol deports illegals on a TOKEN scale and is utterly inoffensive to the illegals. And you'd rather have a criminal cross your border then a legal citizen upholding the law... that's just your own personal problem.. it doesn't reflect the majority opinion of americans... and doesn't reflect on what a decent american SHOULD think. your just an aberration, a motor mouth with no real understanding of the world around him... bush_cheney2004
How disconnected you are from reality... Its as if you never read the federalist papers... You can only read about my reality from afar.... In 1787, in the second of The Federalist Papers, John Jay gave thanks that "Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people, a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs . . . ." Except for all those that were different....they would later fight a war over it. This is not exactly a celebration of diversity, Jay gives thanks to the fact that america is and should continue to be a HOMOGENEOUS people. Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Paine, and Thomas Jefferson were all explicit about wanting the United States to be a white country, and in 1790 the first federal naturalization law required that applicants for citizenship be "free white persons." Actually, Jefferson was busy banging his slaves and creating the very thing you rail against. BC, you're simply out of touch with any reasonable approach of what it means to be American.. and what is america .and the fact that you yourself are an american serves as a perfect illustration of your countries current quandary. Laughable irony here....tell me again what constitutes an American? Xenophobic? thirdworld-phobic perhaps... but clearly you're not even challenging the fact that illegal aliens are posing a clear threat to the United States. They run the cost of running the country way up and in the long wrong will cause disastrous consequences (in the form of life quality drops, lower wages, higher taxes, division, racial and cultural tensions etc). Yup...that disaster became the United States. How do you like us now? And risking their lives? the border patrol deports illegals on a TOKEN scale and is utterly inoffensive to the illegals. And you'd rather have a criminal cross your border then a legal citizen upholding the law... Much preferred to posers like you. Some of them hide in aircraft wheel wells. that's just your own personal problem.. it doesn't reflect the majority opinion of americans... and doesn't reflect on what a decent american SHOULD think. More irony spawned from pretzel logic, as if the solution is to let YOU tell us what to think or do. your just an aberration, a motor mouth with no real understanding of the world around him... No, I'm just a red, white, and blue prick who knows when a pretender blows a half-assed Yankee Doodle Dandy.
