TOLEDO, Ohio - Joe The Plumber is putting down his wrenches and picking up a reporter’s notebook.

The Ohio man who became a household name during the presidential campaign says he is heading to Israel as a war correspondent for the conservative Web site pjtv.com.

Samuel J. Wurzelbacher says he’ll spend 10 days covering the fighting.

Um, what a great idea.

Why not, his employer obviously made a good offer...

I'm sure he did. And I'm sure millions of people will tune in for the insightful reports.

What has Peter Jennings got to do with this? Was he also a plumber posing as a journalist or something?

Jennings started as a bank teller and actor, before ABC News hired him with very little journalism experience. He built his resume as a foreign correspondent, notably in the ME and Palestine.

Go Joe!

Um....no, that is not correct.

Jennings = Joe? Nope.

Prove me wrong.....Jennings early years are just as I stated...look it up.

Your imagination is working overtime.

Normally you are well armed with this info , but anyway.....

Peter Jennings at age 9 had a CBC radio show.------> journalism

Took a job as bank teller also appeared in plays---->not journalism -stage experience.

21 yr old Peter hired on at a radio station in Brockville as a news reporter-----> journalism

2 yrs later moves to Ottawa as a interviewer/news producer----->journalism

1 yr later, co-anchors CTV National News ------->journalism

Meets a producer of ABC-eventually accepts position with them as anchor------>journalism.

Shall I go on?

If you wish....I read the exact same Wiki article...a long time ago. Joe the Plummer has more media experience!

Is there such a thing as Joe the Plumber Derangement Syndrome yet? Because judging from some of the posts in this thread, it seems pretty rampant.

And journalism isn't rocket science, in fact, I rate it just above shoe shining, and just below plumbing.

I agree....plumbing is a very important aspect of a modern civilization. Just ask Anne Coulter!

Kind of wondered that myself. He came to U.S. TV after serving as a news anchor in Canada. Can't recall him ever being a plumber.

Maybe you should support him as Presidential candidate in 2012. Afterall, it ain't rocket science.

Maybe Joe the Plumber will be given an anchor job based on his media experience.

I'm not the one starting topics about him two and a half months after the election. And when it comes to Joe the Plumber, all I care about, is that he's adequately compensated for the Ohio Democrats illegally snooping into his background.

I think you are mistaking incredulous for derangement. I'm incredulous that the man is acting as a war correspondent.

I agree. Prosecute those responsible.

However, give me a break about thinking that sending Joe the Plumber to report on the war is anything but ridiculous.

Is it a syndrome when you can't make an argument without calling your opponent deranged? Or is that just a sign that you don't have the skills to debate?

He's reporting what he observes for a website. Any comparisons to news anchors and network reporters is ridiculous. Take a deep breath, and move on.

Almost as ridiculous as a comedian as a sentor.

I was going to say the same thing to you. All the Joe the Plumber Infatuation Syndrome and waiting with baited breath for his insights must be causing hypoxia.

I guess it would be if you thought Senator was a profession. I consider it in and any other political office a calling and a duty to any and all citizens. I had no problem when an actor such as Ronald Reagan ran for office.

I'd have less issue with Joe the Plumber running for office than I would thinking of him acting as a foreign corespondent. I find that completely hilarious. I find it moreso hilarious that some seem to think that Peter Jennings has been thrown into this thread as well.

Ronald Regan was an actor, went to become president of the US.

Ahnold is now Govenor of California.

I am sure there are many other examples out there of actors, comedians singers, even porn stars and cross dressers have been in government...
