DrGreenthumb Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Okay, you suckered me.....1) Please elaborate obout the right wing roots of CTV 2) What is distinctive about them? If you can't see the right wing bias of CTV you win the award for the "least observant poster on MLW" Quote
noahbody Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 If you can't see the right wing bias of CTV you win the award for the "least observant poster on MLW" CTV isn't pro Harper, pro Dion or pro Layton. I'd characterize Graham Richardson, for one, as pro Liberal, anti-Harper. Fife is definitely not pro-Harper. I'd call him pro controversy. If they're cheering for anyone, it's Ignatieff. Quote
August1991 Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 (edited) Sort of like the Tory convention where Harper's people vetted everything at the top level before approving it for debate in Winnipeg? Why is it that Liberals always go on the attack instead of answering the criticsm of their own behaviour?---- Liberal Party rules require a delegate convention to slect the next leader - unless Ignatieff wins by acclamation. That would only happen if Rae drops out and while possible, I don't see it happening easily. Chretien backs Rae (and Chretien was up to his nostrils in this coalition deal.) The executive would have to make Ignatieff interim leader pending a convention. When they're not attacking others for their own shortcomings, the Liberals are looking for a magic bullet that will get them back into power. Now they believe it will be Ignatieff. If you can't see the right wing bias of CTV you win the award for the "least observant poster on MLW"On planet Dr Greenthumb, only Joseph Stalin has a left wing bias. Everyone else is to the right.Heck, I bet Greenthumb believes the CBC pretends to be neutral but in fact is, you guessed it, secretly right wing. Edited December 8, 2008 by August1991 Quote
jdobbin Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Why is it that Liberals always go on the attack instead of answering the criticsm of their own behaviour? I could the same thing about the Tories. Liberal Party rules require a delegate convention to slect the next leader - unless Ignatieff wins by acclamation. That would only happen if Rae drops out and while possible, I don't see it happening easily. Chretien backs Rae (and Chretien was up to his nostrils in this coalition deal.)The executive would have to make Ignatieff interim leader pending a convention. I think that is the likely scenario unless the delegate convention can be decided by January as both Rae and Ignatieff seem to think might be possible. When they're not attacking others for their own shortcomings, the Liberals are looking for a magic bullet that will get them back into power. Now they believe it will be Ignatieff. And Harper's solution to keeping power, charging others with sedition, treason and being traitors. Nice. Quote
blueblood Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Why in the Blue Hell would Chretien be wanting to cook up a deal with Seperatists? It was Chretien who fought them in 95 and did it by any means necessary. capricorn Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Chretien's disdain for the separatists takes a back seat to his wish for the Liberals to regain power. His MO is all over the coalition. Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. Unfortunately, he never runs." Will Rogers

I like Richardson because when he hosts he goes after every party with harder questions. Quote
Oleg Bach Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Chretien's disdain for the separatists takes a back seat to his wish for the Liberals to regain power. His MO is all over the coalition. So Rea is now a rightwinged NDPer (liberal) - and old man Chretien is still a hater of big buisness unless he owns that big buisness. Chretien still has the urge to control Quebec financers...but can only do it if he can use the rest of Canada as a club to bludgeon them into submission with. Common old gangsterism if you ask me. Remember the fued that he had with Lord Black - who in a bygone time was the wiz kid front man for the old bay street consortium.. This is the same old crap - the Montreal big boys duking it out with the Toronto old big boys...and with us in the middle- I Just wish that Chretien would retire and stop acting like the God father...speaking of God - maybe dear John can go to Florida and create his own French gang in the federal housing facility where Conrad resides ----and they could have a turf war..with shives and everything... Boring! Quote
Moonbox Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 (edited) (2) He was Premier of Ontario at a significant economic downturn which neither he or his party had very much to do with. This doesn't matter he just happened to be Premier when the downturn happened, he is blamed for the downturn anyway. He lead a party that very few ministers that were talented enough to excel in their given portfolios. Ha. I'd have to strongly contest that point Granted, the recession had little to do with Bob Rae. You can rarely lay the blame squarely on one politician for that. With that said, his RECORD Ontario deficit, increased spending on social assistance, and tax increases certainly CAN be blamed completely on him. He basically did everything you're NOT supposed to do in a recession (economically speaking) and the province suffered for it. Nowadays Canadians go apeshit at the prospect of a $9-10 Billion federal deficit. Bob Rae did that in Ontario ALONE SIXTEEN YEARS AGO. It takes a particularly inept leader to do that. His approval rating was 6% when he was ousted as premier. George Bush can't even touch those numbers. Oleg Bach Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Iggy is the best they have. Who else do they have? See what I mean? The question I ask is if Rae and Layton are willing to be loyal to seperatist before their own "nation" - will Iggy be loyal to Canada putting his American mentors second? Seems that all interests lay outside of the Canadian family other than Harper - who is as hard and as Canadian as a frozen hockey puck. With Ignatieff, you might have a chance to reason with the man. I hope. Quote
Slim MacSquinty Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Seems they have already appointed Iggy leader and they're back to talking coalition. Just another example of disconnected Ottawa. Quote
Oleg Bach Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Seems they have already appointed Iggy leader and they're back to talking coalition. Just another example of disconnected Ottawa. So Mr. America parachute in to a riding Ignatieff wants to be PRESIDENT of Canada...not likely and all the coaltionism will not prevail - If Iggy persists then we might just have him picked up for sedition... Don't underestimate the wrath of our establishment - no way are they going to let this flip flop boarderman effect their well being and future. The buisness elite that have always been in awe of Washington and were always afraid and apprehensive of their Amercian counter parts are no longer afraid of our southern BOSS...apparently the boss is to busy fighting for his own survival at present - Iggy is just a little to late - no one was expecting a global economic collapse to take place in unison - so Iggies long term plan - failed natrually.
