Up until the 1960's blacks were not even regarded as human beings and there are still many people in the US that hold this view. It's too bad. The more I read and listen to Barrack Obama the more I think that he is the right person to lead the US right now. Not because of his race but because of the message that he brings. It would seem that in these uncertain times people need to feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel. Mr. Obama gives people of the US hope, to be honest I think he gives the world hope and truly wish him to be elected. Well...BC_Chick, it's like this. I've stopped believing the first thing I see that happens to fit my own ideals of the moment and started looking for the truth, or what I perceive to be the truth. I get a gut reaction at times and then look for tidbits that somewhat fit. I watched the special they had on TV the other night on CBC Newsworld called Obama/McCain 2008 in its entirety and was surprised by it. Many of the things I was spouting have already been dealt with by Mr. Obama which that video failed to mention. I'm a tad biased when it comes to certain issues and have had experiences in my life that have led me to those conclusions. However I'm starting to see that that doesn't give me the right to label an entire segment of society because of a few bad dealings I've had. My wife, who is of mixed race really put into perspective for me and I love her for it. Her family escaped slavery by way f the underground railroad and it really cemented it for me on a number of issues. She always tells me that for someone so smart how can you be so stupid about these things, I'm finally starting to listen. I've been carrying a lot of hate around for a long time and I don't want to die hating everything. I started looking at it from another angle. Instead of being pissed off by a black guy being President I started listening to his ideas and his words. Then I started listening to JFK. They are very similar, both skilled orators and have good ideas. I honestly think that the USA needs hope and in turn, the world needs hope. IF McCain gets elected I fear that it will drag the people down and they will once again feel pessimistic. If Obama gets elected it will restore the good feelings people have of the USA. I really feel that the markets and everything will rebound if Obama wins as people will feel rejuvenated and a sense of wonderment whereas McCain will ensure a feeling of same old, same old persists. He is the President the world needs right now. I'm sure some will look upon my post in jest and that's fine. You asked me an honest question and I gave an honest answer BC>Chick. Take it as you will. No kidding. I shave my head all the time, not completely down to the bark but the stubble is pretty thin. If I let it grow it sprouts like wildfire and sticks out everywhich way. Besides the stubble acts like Velcro and keeps my cap stuck on when its windy, especially when I'm out on the water. White supremacists are not all that organized and usually don't act on their threats (dreams, desires) because the consequences are either death or getting ass raped in prison where the population is usually about 95% non-white... The sad reality is that the United States is overrun with ethnic gangs who have turned cities into war zones and destroy lives through the sale of drugs, etc. Too bad nobody is concerned about that or the tens of thousands of people that they murder every year...
