bush_cheney2004 Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Just in time for the national election.... DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) - U.S. military helicopters launched an extremely rare attack Sunday on Syrian territory close to the border with Iraq, killing eight people in a strike the government in Damascus condemned as "serious aggression." A U.S. military official said the raid by special forces targeted the foreign fighter network that travels through Syria into Iraq. The Americans have been unable to shut the network down in the area because Syria was out of the military's reach. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9...;show_article=1 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

jdobbin Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Must be "Operation October Surprise" War with Syria! Excellent! I suppose since it looks like McCain is losing that Bush would like to leave lots of fires for Obama to put out when he becomes President. Quote

Sounds fair to me...look what Clinton left for Bush. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
gc1765 Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Sounds fair to me...look what Clinton left for Bush. The largest surplus in U.S. history? Quote Almost three thousand people died needlessly and tragically at the World Trade Center on September 11; ten thousand Africans die needlessly and tragically every single day-and have died every single day since September 11-of AIDS, TB, and malaria. We need to keep September 11 in perspective, especially because the ten thousand daily deaths are preventable. - Jeffrey Sachs (from his book "The End of Poverty")
bush_cheney2004 Posted October 27, 2008 Author Report Posted October 27, 2008 The largest surplus in U.S. history? I guess if you count Osama, Al Qaeda, DPRK, Iraq, and recession as part of the "surplus". Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Sulaco Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 The largest surplus in U.S. history? A surplus of trouble for which we are still paying. Peace is always paid for in blood sooner or later. 8 years of the peace surplus has now cost somewhere around 8k US lives and billions upon billions. This new recession is but a tail end of the 90's. Bush's administration's low interest rates were, perhaps, a mistaken attempt to provide a soft landing for the dot.com bust. Strangely though, while I say Clinton left a surplus of trouble I don't specifically blame him for it - let's admit it - the 90's were nice - and now we pay the price for them in this current decade. It was kind of a given that we would. Bush has managed the trouble we pay with now in a mediocre manner - but not a terrible one. There is no question, however, that the Clint was one lucky mofo. His 8 years ended at just the right time for him. Quote Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Those who learn from history are doomed to a lifetime of reruns.
gc1765 Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 I guess if you count Osama, Al Qaeda, DPRK, Iraq, and recession as part of the "surplus". No, but I count the $235 billion dollars. - Jeffrey Sachs (from his book "The End of Poverty")
eyeball Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Though Syria has long been viewed by the U.S. as a destabilizing country in the Middle East, in recent months, Damascus has been trying to change its image and end years of global seclusion. Where does one begin trying to interpret this in light of the interrogation services that Syria has provided the US? These are definitely the Crazy Years. Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
GostHacked Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 I guess if you count Osama, Al Qaeda, DPRK, Iraq, and recession as part of the "surplus". Clinton gave the information to Bush about Al-queda/Bin Laden and the possibility of attacks in the US or on US interests. Bush obviously did not think it was that important. And if you want to talk about Iraq, Bush Sr. have left it to Clinton ... The DPRK is off the terror list now. Quote

Bush obviously did not think it was that important. Clinton didn't give Bush anything but the obvious domestic and foreign attacks on US interests without doing much about it. We know what Clinton was doing in the Oval Office. And if you want to talk about Iraq, Bush Sr. have left it to Clinton ... Bush Sr. is not Bush Jr. The DPRK is off the terror list now. That's right....two down and one more to go. No thanks to Slick Willy. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

We know what Clinton was doing in the Oval Office. So Clinton did not do his job with informing the future pres? Bush Sr. is not Bush Jr. They are cut from the same cloth however. But if you want to play the blame game, it falls on Bush Sr then. That's right....two down and one more to go. No thanks to Slick Willy. One more?? Are you sure?? That list is pretty long. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted October 27, 2008 Author Report Posted October 27, 2008 So Clinton did not do his job with informing the future pres? We know what kind of "job" Clinton was getting...and giving. Information is not action.....they even invented a new excuse...."actionable intelligence". They are cut from the same cloth however. But if you want to play the blame game, it falls on Bush Sr then. Fine by me...he should have done it 1991. We don't play that King/Prince thing down here. One more?? Are you sure?? That list is pretty long. "Axis of Evil"...penned by a Canadian David Frum I think....is good enough for now. The gods tossed in Libya for free. Such a deal! Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Topaz Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 I'm sure the world is getting sick of this "war on terrorism" and watching little children getting killed and their families because the US says it will bring peace one more. BS!!! When WW2 ended the saying was we did it so our kids wouldn't have to, the Nam war, we fought so our kids wouldn't have to, Desert Storm, we fought to keep freedom and now the "war on Terrorism" we fight to keep over there and keep our people safe. There is ALWAYS going to be war and the US will always be in the middle of it because its BIG business and makes certain people richer and it surely isn't the everyday joe either!! The Afghanistan -Iraq war is ONLY about the US getting control over the Middle-East, and controlling with US military as police. I think Harper is wrong by keeping our troops over there were more of them are coming back in caskets or with missing body parts. I think the media needs to do a better job of telling what is really happening over there because the gov't isn't!! Quote
