Mass media, the UN, certain posters on this Board, and certain former officials of France, among others, would have people believe that the Arabs were thrust into a bellicose role towards the world by Israeli aggression and intransigence. This school of thought blames Muslim-generated strife throughout the world on the "sense of hopelessness" engendered by Israel. This is not close to being true.

Early on, the Hebrews differntiated themselves from their neighbors by being more civilized. G-d stopped child sacrifice among the Jews, leading Abraham to the edge of killing his son, Isaac and then pulling back. The lesson learned by the Hebrews is that we don't do that, even though the surrounding tribes did. One wonders if the "surrounding tribes" have changed much, given their proclivity to send impressionable children as walking bombs onto Israeli buses and into jammed public facilities. And don't forget 911 either in this regard.

An even more striking ancient parellel is found in this story, concerning the Phillistines' wanton and purposeless clogging of water wells drilled by Abraham (link):

When Isaac planted in that land, he reaped in the same year a hundred times what he had sown, because the LORD blessed him. The man became wealthy. His influence continued to grow until he became very prominent. He had so many sheep and cattle and such a great household of servants that the Philistines became jealous of him. So the Philistines took dirt and filled up all the wells that his father’s servants had dug back in the days of his father Abraham.

Then Abimelech (king of the Philistines) said to Isaac, “Leave us and go elsewhere, for you have become much more powerful than we are.” So Isaac left there and settled in the Gerar Valley. Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug back in the days of his father Abraham, for the Philistines had stopped them up after Abraham died. Isaac gave these wells the same names his father had given them.

One wonders, in a desert environment, why the Phillistines ruined the wells rather than using them. Then, plowing planes into buildings never made much sense. Some people enjoyed destruction for its own sake then, and still do.

Amazing, the world hasn't changed.

You certainly amuse yourself with nonsense Dancer.

Anyhow Jpg I came across an article that states it's bogus that they kill because of our policies and our freedoms. They kill because they are tought to hate and they kill to protect Radical Islam. We in the West have no reason to feel guilt for the behavior of savages. None.

Here's the link: http://politics.guardian.co.uk/columnist/s...2209171,00.html

Snippet: Ten years ago, in November 1997, 50 Swiss tourists rose early to visit the Valley of the Kings across the Nile from Luxor in Egypt. Suddenly from the hills came a group of Islamists. They shot, disembowelled and decapitated the tourists.

It was just one of the many forerunners of 9/11 in 2001 in New York, 7/7 in 2005 in London or 11/M as the Spanish call the train bombings in Madrid in 2004. Today, as the killing in the name of extremist political Islamist ideology increases in tempo and intelligence agencies struggle to disarm those promised a passage to heaven if they blow themselves and others up, the earlier wave of militant Islamist killing can be overlooked.

These posts are meant to fire up peoples' emotions, and do so by eliminating the possibility that there could be some reason for such attacks. They make it sound like the people in question are inhuman, and incapable of peace.

Yet, Canada continues to allow Muslim immigrants, and continues to thrive as a result of immigration.

Scaremongering, too, eventually produces a backlash.

It's really simple...wave mouse over link...left click to open.

Can you put it together in a paragraph?

Why when BBC has the full story?

Otherwise, why would I care?

I don't care if you care.

Why argue with illiterates?

Another pro-Israel troll fest.

This is an important issue, we in the west are told repeatedly, by the hard left, that we deserve to be attacked based on Foreign Policy and our interferance in the ME and other Muslim Countries when in fact the picture is much bigger and not nearly as clear cut as the left like us to think. The link was a documented series of events that had nothing to do with Israel and the West, it describes how Radical Islamists violence and hatred existed long before the West was involved in the "War On Terror".

You have issues with Jews and I for one am tired of your bigotry towards members here.

Slamming planes into buildings had about the level of logic as the Phillistines' plugging of Abraham's wells. These people seem incapable of constructive activity of any kind, much less peace.

I just edited the spelling error. Do you have anything intelligent to add? As I've pointed out, many on this board habitually mis-spell many words, and not be accident.

And almost all serial killers are white males.

If we follow your principle of blaming the group for the actions of the individual, then I should be able to say:

'jbg - why don't you tell your people to stop murdering innocent people ?'

Luckily, our current government IS Conservative and has shown itself to favour open borders and growth so your alarmist attitudes aren't gaining any traction in Ottawa.

How ethnocentric of you. Most serial killers in North America and possibly Europe are white males, to be sure, but I suspect that most serial killers in Africa or India or China are not. Perhaps, if you wrack your brain hard enough, the reason most serial killers in predominantly caucasian countries are white, the answer will come to you. Mind you, I may be overly optimistic...

They're disproportionately white males, though.

Is that really what the hard left is saying? That we deserve to be hit with terrorist attacks or are they saying that terror attacks are the result of our foreign policy? There is a staggeringly huge difference between "deserve" and "the result of". I've seen things like, "you can't expect any result other than an attack when you do [X]," or "why are we surprised?" and "if the US acted less like a global bully, such things wouldn't happen..." I'm paraphrasing, of course. I'm not defending either side of the political argument, but I have never seen a quote by anyone from the hard left saying we deserve to be attacked.

Can you prove this statement? Is there disproportionately more white male serial killers because we catch and convict them or do countries such as India simply have no serial killers? I suspect it is more a matter of record keeping than anything else. I'll also point out that 'serial killer' is a term coined in Western culture.

What an idiotic remark. Serial killers don't have the tacit support of majority communities. Paul Bernardo, had, according to Ipsos Reid, had only about 3% of the population supporting him [/sarcasm]. I'm sure a greater percentage of Muslims tacitly supported the 911 attacks.

Hey, jbg:

did you know that you can save considerable time and effort by using standardized "I'm right you're wrong" package of arguments (SPA - already presented in another thread)?

This particular one can be easily classified as "I'm better than you" (#5 in SPA if memory serves me well?) and basically can be translated as "I believe that you're inferior and this entitles me to do things to you, which, if done by you to me, I'd would classify as bad bad bad".

Wtih SPA, long posts a la OP of this thread can be presented in a nice and elegant way (also greatly improving the interpretation by readers) like e.g.:

"# 5 ! (optional link)"

The trial is free. Enjoy!

Not in Africa. Don't be racist.

In North America. I think we're at about 90% white males.

And, on the flip side of the coin, we have black males disproportionately represented in the prison population.

Your little hunt-and-peck missions to find examples of Muslims who have jaywalked as proof that all immigration is evil (I'm admitting the hyperbole here ahead of time) have never even got to the point where you can look at such statistics.

But there they are. What do you think the cause of such disproportional numbers ? Are white more inclined to murder by race ?

Wait. What happened ?

I thought we were talking about crimes. Now all of a sudden it's support for crimes ?

Interestingly there are very few Indian serial killers.....of the three from the last 50 years, one was a French citizen (half Indian-half Vietnamese.....)

Now given that the population of India is fast approaching the oodle and oddle mark, 3 serial killers compared to the dozens of caucasians in North America......

...I'm fscared of whitey....
