Yep, which is why he will backtrack and find a way to pay for it himself that saves face. -

You are absolutely correct, but you have the wrong guy. It isn't Coderre who is brown nosing, it's a guy at a much higher level than that. Coderre is and will be Trudeaus Montreal area bagman. Yu always need a trusted and experienced hand to distribute the cash, and Coderre has long experience in this regard. Best of all, he is not an MP so has PMO deniability. And now we know why Coderre was there.... mostly away from the press.... those private discussions with The Boss on how, when, and most of all: who. -

and the indian PM could not be bothered, cancelling his appointment . And the result: nothing. Lets be honest, the Paris Canadian swarm is really intended to play to the doughheads at home who lap this crap up. And it works. -

No, I would expect that partisan poiltical hacks with no actual skin in that game and absolutely nothing to offer to anybody at that conference stay home and do the work that the taxpayers pay them for. I know, it is radical. -

I see CBC shamelessly kissing his ass 24/7, for the benefit of us back in Canuckistan. What do you see happening other than that. Not in domestic hudkerterism, but in anybody actually caring what Canada does. The best the CBC correspondent could come up with yesterday was approval from an unnamed delegate(one of the 40,000) he supposedly spoke to from an unnamed country. Seriously. -
Yes he does. It provides many opportunities for selfies and important policy announcements like "Canada is back!". What was the outcome of his groundbreaking meeting with the Premiers?

LIke when he travelled on the government dime while an MP , en route to his paid speaking engagements?. Of course, he eventually and tearfully paid that wee bit of larceny back, after he got caught . Just like Mike Duffy. -

Do You? One more time: do you support the proposal to pay Laureen Harper back pay for how she was unfairly exploited in having to raise her own children while working as the spouse of the PM? -
What was the last movie you watched?
overthere replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Arts and Culture
I've seen Spotlight, Spectre and The Night Before in the last 10 days or so. Spotlight is an account of the exposure of widespread sexual abuse by Catholic clergy in Bsoton in the 80s, which more or less led to the outing of many clergy in many places. They are listed at the end of the movie, it is a very brief and grim moment in a well written and acted movie. Spectre is the latest Bond and is about average, though IMO Craig is still the best of the Bonds and in general Bond movies are a must -see, this one included if you enjoy the franchise.. The night before is dumb fluff from Seth Rogen, crude and funny in some places, tedious in others. Average and sometimes funny. Wait for it on cable. Two out of the three are escapist meat, and both are preferable to Mad Max IMO, which tended to lull me to sleep. When the volume is always at 11 I get battered into inattention. The cream of this crop is Spotlight. I look forward to The Revenant, filmed in BC and out soon. -

I expect Trudeau will mention this promise about the wealthy/child care benefits in his throne speech. Who was it here that said the throne speech is just the same as campaign promises/platform? It will be in the speech agenda right after he reaffirms that we'll see $25K refugees by Xmas. -
Can anyone explain Dan Gagnier's end game for me?
overthere replied to fred68's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
He was applying for a job because he knew there was not much room for him at the traditional Liberal post-election trough. There are many mouths to feed, and the new kids would be in the second tier of patronage. So he padded his resume to make it appear he had more leverage inside than he did..... which is not exclusive to Liberal partisan hacks. -

Really? Harpers children were 6 and 9 when he became PM. Trudeaus children are 8, 6 and 2. Why exactly do you think Harpers children needed less care and love from their parents than Trudeaus?. I suspect the opposite is true, if Trudeau Jr duplicates the attitude his father had for his kids. It left at least one yearning for the love and approval of everybody in the country. Having 24 hour nanny care allows one the freedom to never be home, just like Grandpa did.. -

But you can compare it to statements made publicly by Trudeau regarding child care and the wealthy, which would inlucde himself. Do wealthy people in the private sector get taxpayer funded child care? -

Ummm, Trudeau is playing a role all right, for the equally massive CBC presence. Really, nobody else gives a rats ass what Canada thinks, says or does. -

I see. Taking a massive delegation via carbon spewing aircraft, many of whom have nothing to do with the subject, is an indication that Trudeau takes himself and cronyism seriously, not the environment. Can you explain what Denis Coderre, he that spews 8 billion liters of unreated turds intot he St Lawrence, adds to the COP 21 program? -

The federal govt program will have similar hourly rates, plus a $15 billion markup annually for admin costs. -
so they are going to tell us that they are bringing 25,000 refugees in by end of December?

Jacee? Hello? Bump that number up to one million bucks owed to Laureen Harper. Two nannies plus benefits plus travel costs are at least $100k per year x 10 years. An even $1M cheque for Laureen should cover her suffering. It is only fair, wouldn't you agree? -

are you talking about places that were formerly colonies that are now wealthy, powerful and/or influential in world affairs like the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil, India, China etc? It is not clear which international players you mean. -

There was an itemized list of Trudeaus speakng enagements on the CBC website, payments made while he was also paid by Canadians as an MP. Now the list has vanished, to be replaced by a page apologizing for 'technical difficulties'. One thing that worked out in a heartwarming way.... is that Justin repaid the expenses he charged to the taxpayers while attending those paid speaking engagements while also an MP. It is wonderful to think that he and Mike Duffy have that in common. It brings us together as a nation. -

So you would support the proposal to send Laureen Harper a half million or so in back pay for the way she was exploited for ten years by Canadian taxpayers? It is only reasonable, as you point out. -
Waiting for the Trudeau Jnr Flip-Flop
overthere replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No that is not the question. The question is: how do we generate national revenue that does not involve simply taxation? What goods and services can the nation produce, add value, and export. Then and only then can we consider how we will spend the wealth we generate. It is what Canadians love about Liberal govts, they just breeze right over the hard part so we don't have to strain ourselves on those hard questions. To be fair, other ideologies are nearly as ignorant. I have an abiding uneasiness that our future is not the least bit bright. The worst part is that we are doing it to ourselves. While we blither on about Sunny Days, our lunch is being eaten whole by competitors in businesses we should thrive, namely exporting energy. LNG is already lost to us, oil is nearly closed. While Iraq and Saudi ramp up production and lock up long term supply contracts with paying customers in Asia, we cannot get organized enough to build a single pipeline to saltwater. How they must laugh at our utter ineptness to even acknowledge the situation, and our part in it. Canada is back alright, and dressed in a clown suit. -

There are at least 40,000(forty thousand) 'delegates' at the Paris conference. If only there was a way to save all that carbon and connect them without all that carbon emitted . Somebody should come up with radical technology to enable that- the telegraph and telephone hold promise in this regard. -

It is completely insane isn't it? China must laugh until they cry when they get home from a days meetings with the idiots in Paris. -
just curious, but 95% of MPs are not from Ottawa and presumably don't have their families there. What is the point of that initiative? There is no need to repeat the fatuous wankery of a campaign. The purpose of the throne speech is to state their legislative agenda, not the puffery from the campaign.
