Trump's already told the world what he wants dozens of times....I guess you've not been following this event...When your the leader of the most powerful nation in the world yes, you can take a dump where ever you want....Canada is a likely target we are weak in every category...
-
It still contributes to the almost 100,000 americans that are killed by it every single year....and while Canada contribution is only 1 % of that total it is growing exponentially every year....that 1 % represents 1000 deaths, is that an insufficient number to you...how big does it need to get before the US needs to take action....
-
That's not what this is about....It is about illegal immigration entering the US from Canada, ( not enough effort by canada to curtail it)and the illegal drug traffic, fentanyl once again not enough effort on our part to control or stop it... You mean it made the minimum effort, or first offering. 1.38 bil will not even begin to solve these two issues...nor will be renting 4 helos to patrol 8000km of borders.... And NO he did not respond with that, do you have a source that says to get rid of tariffs we need to cease to be a nation? or are you making this up as you go... You must be a liberal , any idea or opinion not of the main stream and you classify it as the foreign to be screamed down regardless of cost....instead of calling people names why don't you debate your side of the issue...instead of making up lies...
-
Our border agencies have already stated to our government and the media our borders are not secure...in fact they are very weak....each border has to sides Trump wants Canada to tighten up our side....which includes tighter border crossing and tighter policing against the drug trade... If they are there illegally get rid of them, why is that so hard to understand...regardless if where they came from...

Relatively speaking 1 % of all fentanyl coming into the US is from Canada and that number is going to increase because it is easy to get stuff though the northern border than the southern........that would translate to 1 % of the deaths as well meaning Canada is reasonable for up to 1000 americans dying...That's a pretty large figure enough to be a concerning... I agree users are the problem, since we just can't shoot them as Thailand did, nor can we force them into treatment centers, what would you purpose to whittle down users numbers ?....or is it more effective to go after supply and production ? We as a nation have heard from RCMP , CBSA about lack of funding , lack of equipment, lack of manpower to effectively fight the drug problem...WE failed to reduce our drug problem and keep our own streets safe....this is a ME problem not a US problem...I mean if we took a survey of all Canadians right now who would be against spending more in these two areas to keep us safer...lets not forget almost 10,000 Canadians since 2016 have died of this one drug alone...with another 10,000 hospitalized...do we simply say tough luck that was a personal choice...or do we say that number is high enough to take action like increase that part of our security apparatus .... As for stuff flowing north, again we need to take responsibility for a large portion of that as well, CBSA released a report stating they can only inspect a very small % of all containers and trucks coming over the border, WHY is that because they are underfunded, lack manpower and equipment....Once again not a US problem but a Canadian one...Just look at what Justin offered up to trump, lease 4 Black hawk helos , to cover 8000 plus km of border....and 1.38 billion which is peanuts....look at Mexico's response 10,000 national guards to the border area....and it only got a 1 month reprieve from tariffs...It is my personal opinion Canada is going to have to step it up...it's going to cost more than 1.38 bil... We'll see how much the tariffs are going to cost at the end of all this, my bet it would be cheaper to just pay the bill as asked instead of the costs of tariffs...

Justin is not gone yet, but soon....the liberals however are still in power until they finish their mandate....which could be until the next election....if the NDP bring them down..
-
Not what the RCMP and CBSA are saying. Justin says our borders are fine, and yet CBSA says they can only inspect a small fractions of trucks and containers entering our country....and RCMP say they don't have the manpower or budget to to deliver enough policing to crack the drug problem... Canada has almost 10,000 deaths from fentanyl since 2016...and 10,000 more have been admitted to hospital just from fentanyl How is that not a problem even our health care has said it is a crises....which is why we have public drug useage areas, teams delivering narcan to the streets...Cartels are moving processing plants for fentanyl to canada becasue it is easier to get stuff across the northern border than the southern border...How is that not a problem...
-
My question is Why have we not done this before, why are we content on inter provincial tarifs as well, why have we not driven pipelines all across this country....According to justin there is not a business case for it...They are however two points that is on PP radar, and some of many he said he is going to implement them.... But this is not our first meeting with trump and tariffs why did we not learn anything on the first time and diversified our trade back then....no we were more interested in diversification of the work place, must have got the memos mixed up... Sometimes i think we as a nation have to learn everything the hard way.... like this fight with trump...

No your just a whiner....

https://ca.news.yahoo.com/four-more-years-obama-gives-speech-to-001327953.html Your in denial if you think this is a recent thing...and it has not just came from the US it has also come from other NATO allieds, all of which have sat down and asked Canada to up it's game ...and all of those asks have been ignored....In this case diplomacy has failed to show results...Now we are in the serious ramification zone... and for some reason you and many others can't see that... Failing to make any type of arrest before it gets to the US border is the problem...

Not sure why the left is even chirping about PP, the guy is not even in power and still is an unknown for what he will do well except the fact he eats baby's , beats seals, and is just a terrible person over all ....and yet we have had 10 years of the liberal/ NDP coalition and what have we to show for that, other than record debt levels, nothing of any real value.....anyone or anything could do a better job than justin, it's really not that high of a bar to leap over...all that and we did not even mention all the lies, deception, pocket filling crooks, ethic violations', and much more. The left has obviously not had enough of all that they want more....well it becasue to them nothing is wrong with the liberals or ndp, it's becasue they are one and the same.... Maybe you right PP will faint once he see just how broken this nation really is...
-
He has already started lots of times he is in favor of counter tariffs, and fighting back, what is not united about that....He is official opposition, not his job to solve this , it is the liberals'

I'm disappointed in Trump
Army Guy replied to gatomontes99's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Well we do a lot of things to keep our jobs, if it upsets them that much to remove gender status, then maybe your priorities are in the wrong place, or you should be doing something else...But hey if this is the hill they want to die on, go for it...it opens another government job that pays well.... -
Liberals decide to import Russian oil
Army Guy replied to Army Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No, i has nothing to do with the left, i did not completely understand the article, and jumped to some conclusions for that i manned up and apologized. It was not my finest hour....I'm not afraid to realize my mistakes.... -
Yes so much economical skill , even British MP's have said he is not all that good with managing money...and he enjoys his first class tickets to everything....loves to spend taxpayers money on himself....
-
I thought he was the official opposition....did we elect him to pm already...I wonder what carney is doing whooops he is doing the same thing , but he is using the conservative play book, no more carbon taxes....we will think of something else....
-
He has also said he was not happy with NAFTA...and he is going to fix that...You ( we) already know this becasue of Trump 1.0, we should have been prepared or had a detailed plan before he got elected... You don't know that. You mean like we handled the Michaels and China, or Russia in Ukraine, Iran, Palestine, or Trump 1.0...did we punch anyone in the face then...NO...but because this is Trump we all of a sudden grow a pair.... I dont agree with picking the fight with a grizzly bear...it's just something you don't do...if a compromise solution is available it is the best option...Call Canada whatever you want, sometimes it is better to live and fight another day....I really hope the next government atleast does something to prevent this in the future, but we are really not that smart as a nation...
-
No we have not we don't all agree on addressing threats...Nor war...WWI conscription crises', not just in Quebec...Even in WWII there was plenty of talk about not supporting england...As for threats Quebec separation was a threat, Climate change was a threat, that we are united on, lots of threats.... Yes trump has made threats, he makes them every day....but instead of us asking why and finding a solution , we have decided to pick a fight...instead of talking we are rushing into a fight that we ca not win ever....you may do so damage to the US economy, but he is really going to hurt ours, push us into a recession at the very least...we will lose thousands of jobs Canadians will be the loser here , not trump or justin...regular Canadians like you and me... He has already said this is phase one, with another phase to start in may once their evaluation of Canada is done, in that phase he will be looking at the complete NAFTA file....Were do think we are going to be by may...what state is our economy going to be in ? ... He is not worried about pissing off anyone he has threaten a good chunk of the world....his team of advisor must have thought this through and think it is the best course of action to reset America.... We will talk more about this in may, and we will see if our pride is worth the cost...Issues that could have easily been fixed,by accepting our responsibility, issues that we Canadians created, issues we did not even think of fixing by ourselves. I was going to say perhaps now we will take a look at diversifying our exports and who we do business, But we are not that smart this is the third attempt first one was trump 1.0 , then there was a trade dispute with china and both times we came up with a list of things to do to prevent this from happening in the future, now pooofff here we are in the future dealing with the same shit different pile...
-
My point was Canadians like their money more than they like anything else in the world, we are a nation of takers....wait until the tariffs hit and thousands more start hitting food banks, loose their jobs, and we run into a recession , then some if not all are going to question our decision to puff our chests and call for a fight... Which is more than what you did, and for a guy that chirps about the environment constantly your failing in your own mission...which is ironic for someone that pretends to be concerned over our environment and a lefty. PPPFFTT

How so, what if we did just agreed to fix what broken, create more jobs, and investments, improve our security ... might at most cost a few billion dollars,Nah thats not how we role instead we are going to put in jeopardy bils of trade every day the tariffs are in place, lose countless jobs, and regular Canadians are going to suffer in the pocket book...Yep sounds like the plan we all should be voting for... I didn't say that, but his actions are forcing us to look at many other options, that are beneficial for our country...There is talks about expanding our oil and gas exports to other nations, building more infrastructure to support all of that, not to mention all of our other resources, bringing them to other markets....( something we learned the hard way on Trump 1.0 but failed to take action on) ..Making our border more secure, along with increasing our northern defences, and increasing our over all security apparatus. Nah that plan would see us as weak, well folks we are weak, something of our own doing....
-
I have to ask What have you done for your country, other than spew a few poisoned words on this forum or damn those that have served or have a different opinion than you.......talk is cheap, your opinion are meaniless, compared to actually serving this nation in one form or another.... Dougie has serve his nation, with distinction, he has sacrificed more than you could imagine...He has earned his right to be critical of this nation...
-
Your saying that Canadians are ready to take a huge hit in the pocket book, to prove a point...sh!t we can't even agree to spend a little on climate change that according to environmentalist is threatening the entire planet and all life on it....i find it a little ironic...Canadian economy experts have already said this would put Canada into a recession...1 in 4 Canadians are dollars away from going to the food banks, not to mention how many jobs are at stake here... Not to mention Canadians are way to soft to face this kind of event, back in WWII people were hard they knew how to handle adversity, today food bank usage is sky high. My point is i don't think the nation is ready for this war as you call it...and i don't think we are going to make our as well as you think...in my opinion anyways...

Liberals decide to import Russian oil
Army Guy replied to Army Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It was not my intention to post LIE's , i have also maned up and apologize what more do you want a pound of flesh....it is more than any one on the left has given... and we do import oil just not directly from Russia intentional. but according to the source Russian oil has made it to our shores...
