  1. TBud: Another new concept, only here i think we call it trolling, I think you'll find most on this board very open minded and willing to learn from both sides of the argument. If your so passionate about this topic you need to explain why ? and really that is what a forum is all about debate, aleast here anyway. or is it your afraid your beliefs may not hold up to debate. You have no idea what my thoughts are ,nor do you care. your right and i'm wrong period. Do you actually think that the cape and tights are going to change the way man has acted for thousands of years. and what injustice is being done in Afgan ?
  2. TBud: I like to know just how it is you know anything about war, you read a few books, saw a few pictures....Tell us what makes you such a authoritarian on the topic. Or are you just talking out your ass. Now we are guilty of enjoying our current freedoms ,our mass marketed products, and our news...That someone is you right, this job does it come with a cape, maybe a pair of tights. where did you apply... What would you know of war ? i've asked you this many times to state your credentials but you have refused...becuase upto now your just that some guy dress in a cape and tights trying to make a few friends "sorry you don't do that" make friends that is ...so really all your doing is wasting band width trolling.....
  3. Dancer, it would take alot more than that to flabberghast you....Did'nt you say you were Navy...
  4. Tbud: Is this how you debate, you throw a topic out there and we have to pull the your postion out of you... This is a new concept ?
  5. I think these here are better examples on liberty. Afgan Afgan Afgan
  6. tbud: So other than a few facts, do you consider yourself well versed on the topic or are you spouting party jargon for trolling purposes....I guess my question is what are you basing your opinions on. Really just western armies, no eastern influence there, not to mention the Russians. Not a fan of our nations Military, hard to tell, Can i ask why ? "operations" what would you call it ? Sounds like the history of mankind, is that your only bitch... I'm not asking you to take long hot showers with me, just to explain your postion ? as for the ridicule you should look at your posts more carefully, your the one that kicked the hornets nest, stop bitching about getting stung... Innocent people are dying all over the world, so why did you pick Afgan to grind your axe ?
  7. tbud: Sounds like your a big fan of our military, and our operations in Afgan. I'm just curious every studied the Afgan problem, or been to Afgan, or talked to the Afganis people...I'm just curious how you based your opinons. Nice entrance to the forums by the way, your making friends fast i see. must not like books, beers, and tities must be going to to many NDP rallies i heard they really suck, of course that's here say....i do have one question though if it's a cess pool why grace us with your presence ? Shavlik: And you make that sound like a bad thing, please, convert me from being a conservative... Want a jersy pick me first please, enlighten me, convert me into what every it is you think you are, Since you picked this topic to boast on why not start there...
  8. . Actually the person in that Photo is not cross or Lasagna, but Brad larocque AKA freddy Krueger Ojibway, from Weyburn Sask. As for our Boy Soldier, he did'nt piss his pants, he zoned MR Larocque out , which pissed him off further, eventually leading to a shoving match...our boy soldier was actually put on the fast track for his actions or lack of...later he was found guilty of using drugs, and released form the military, and went on to be some what of a porn star. OKA As for what soldiers think of the mohawks that were there vist the ARMY.CA site under OKA crisses and i think you'll be surprised, most soldiers actually respected each side...anyway it makes for some good reading, and debate as there are lots of examples from both sides on the site....
  9. American Woman: , Do you question everyones judgement...perhaps it is not his judgement we should be questioning but the judgement of our countries leaders. we don't question the garbage man about his judgements, or why our land fills are overfilled. do we... Every soldier knows the consquences of blowing things up. that part is drilled into every soldiers training, what is not drilled into his countrymans brains is the results of deploying thier soldiers into combat...and what all that entails...we have the luxery of debating facts and what if's, all day, soldiers routinely are forced to make split second decisions, every day...and not all of them are going to be good ones...And he will have to live with that for the rest of his life...that is part of being a soldier, living with the nightmares our country has asked us to do...THAT is a fact of WAR, nothing you do is going to change that "with exception of not deploying soldiers". Thats because you don't understand the soldiers ethos, in order to live and function in combat, one can not be the guy next door...one has to believe in what they are doing is the best for them, thier families and country...and to most, to be able to serve your country is a honor and privilage , that is not available to all...The military has to enforce this etho's to get men and women to accomplish combat taskings that will end in someone dying. Let me ask you this question with all your life experiance do you think it would prepare you for combat and events that happen in war. These kids we are talking about have been doing this jobs for thousands of years, it is how man fights. Nothing we every experiance in normal every day life will prepare anyone for a war zone....so this piont is mout They will see things differently down the road, because this war experiance will change them more than any other life event will. Again everything a soldier does in combat he will have to live with the rest of his life...another cross they carry for thier country. No, why should they feel the same way each soldier will have different experiances and different reactions to those experiances...And no i would not question them, because they have walked in my boots, and know i would not question there judgement has the have earned thier right to voice thier opinions. all that said and done, they have no right to judge others in a bad light, they can sing all day long about thier exploits, or thier opinions about the war...
  10. Higgly: I orginally joined this forum to do just that, believe it or not, but most Canadians have no idea, what our military does in thier name, nor do they want to know. some like to brag and thump thier chests, but most show no interest. What Canadians want to do is piont thier fingers and blame someone or something for our problems or actions, which i'm surprised we have not made it a national sport. Yes free speech what a wonderful thing, if it is used as it was intended, in this case slander was not the intention...
  11. Must be a slow day at the media outlets...What is the next headline going to read "Canada's military now controls the voice of Afganis people..." Come on people lets keep on feet on the ground, and think with both sides of our brain... NDP have revised thier acusation, now admits speech was written by a thousand monkeys, in Israel....
  12. jennie: Actually Canada has been involved in combat activities since the fall of 2001, at that time and near the region that young Mr. Khadr was captured july 27, 2002....
  13. moderateamericain: There are somedays when i do question WHY even bother, when some tree hugger, makes a comment .....but until they've walked in my boots, and understand why i do what i do, i say #### them, feed em rice. i don't owe those pricks anything... To those that have served, those are the ones i owe.
  14. You call it what ever you want ....i've done two tours over there, and i'm calling it a war...And what oil are you talking about... So what, most of these countries already have POW centers established, are you suggesting we build one for young Khadr here, or are you suggesting we throw him in with our criminal elements... Are you suggesting he is not being treated properly ? why is it you want him in Canada, to be close to mommy, and family...why do we need him here ? Again , why would it be in Canada's best interest to have him here in Canada, that much you have not explained. And if Harper is a racist, then perhaps alot of Canadians out there are as well.
  15. Jennie: Why would returning him to Afgan be foolish ? As a enemy combatant he is subject to the rules of the genva convention, and can be held as a pow until the conflict is over...where an unlawful enemy combatant is not covered by all the genva convention....Military tribunal's cover many topic's est a combatants status is one, another is to proceed with criminal charges if any, etc, etc,.... What would be the piont of bringing him here to Canada ? we do not have a prison set up for POW's...or are we to throw him in general population ? or is it that you think he will be treated any differently than where he is now? what is your motivation to bring him here to Canada ? Keep in mind he was a Canadian citizen, that with his family decided to fight along side the taliban, which at the time Canada had declared war on this group...and in doing so this once small boy killed an american soldier in combat, which could have been as easily a Canadian soldier.
  16. I'll second that Geoffrey, it is disgusting, there was no debate offered just a ugly statement. What do you tell a family that has lost a member to a drunk driver, what do you tell a victim of rape, what do you tell the family of a police officer killed in the line of duty.... "they would be alive today if they'd just stayed home in the first place"
  17. AngusThermopyle: I agree 100%, Instead of going for a release of this parasite, and going after a few votes, he should be be looking at tighting up our immigration policy, so this does not happen in the future again. That would be showing more leadership expected of that party. I'd be interested in knowing whom is growing frustrated, and why ?
  18. M.Dancer: Sorry, for the rant, should not drink beer and post at the same time. I understand the guys piont, even agree with it somewhat, it's just the way he worded his opinion that rub me the wrong way. salesman
  19. This is maybe how Canadians view thier military, with great disinterest and bar room jokes....But ask any of the other militaries now serving in Afgan or any part of the world for that matter and thier opinion on Todays Canadian soldiers and our military and they will sing another tune...This is reflected by which country they request when the shit hits the fan. We are a world renowned professional fighting force, that can be counted on at anytime, for anything. We've always been under equiped, and undermanned, not because it makes us look tougher, or all of our assigned military taskings easier but because that is all the Canadian tax payer will dole out. Every penny the military pry's out of them has been earned by it's soldiers own blood...let that sink in awhile..Soldiers actually have to die in battle before we the tax payer gets off our beer induced fat asses and shells out additional monies for new and safer equipment, equipment that we should have had in the first place. The great Canadian myth "peacekeeping" and making Canadians proud, BS...peace keeping was cheaper, easier to embrace by liberal minded persons and tree huggers alike, hell even had op plow shares fooled....and yet how many canadian soldiers have died or been wounded during peace keeping duties under fire by hostile forces... The article makes it sound that todays military does not conduct themselfs with dignity nor can they be trusted to adhere to the conventions...to this i say once again B..S... walk a mile in my boots before slamming this nations military forces, we give 110 % of everything we own, to our nation including our lifes if call upon....we ask for very little in return, and recieve very little of that. I'll sum it up right here, do not blame todays soldiers for Our nations short comings, it belittles thier sacrafice, it belittles thier efforts...want someone to blame, blame the government and it's lack of vision, or commitment..., blame the tax payer for not being vocal or voting for the wrong people....
  20. jdobbin: Thats not how the government purchases equip. 1. DND decides it needs a piece of equipment (in this case a POD for the F-18) or anything over 5,000.00 it sends that requirement in the form of a spec sheet up to PWSG (a cilvilain government dept), PWSG then places that requirement on the MER ( a government web site available to anyone with a computer) anyone can submit or bid to get this contract...anyone that can prove it can supply or meet that contract.... 2. after a certain amount of time all bids are gathered up processes and checked out...PWSG then arranges for DND to test all the equipment in question...DND sumits it's findings (which one it likes) back thru PWSG who then forwards it up the government , who will make the final say.... My piont is this DND does not chose the type or manufacturer it wants, or perfers...it submits a spec sheet, and a process is followed....DND may submit which company or piece it perfers after it has tested all the bidders proto types...but that does not mean that is the equipment we are going to get, Our government has the final say on everything....And policitics plays a major role in what we get regardless of what DND says. Ever purchased a car strictly on price, The spec sheets submitted are very broad in terms to allow for maxium perticipation. other factors come into play as well, durability of the product, is it at the end of it's growth ability(IE can it be improved, or added to), is it a proven product, can they produce them on time, is it interoperatable with other DND equipment, or systems... the list is endless....but all of these are second to the governments decision. on the government side of things there are these considerations. Can it be built in Canada, will it create jobs, where in the country will it create jobs, can taxes be gained from it, can tax incentives be applied, will it be good for the party, will Canadians accept the purchase...etc etc...and that list is endless... Price is only one factor, not the end all factor...To many times have we purchased equipment for the military strictly for polictical reasons, take a look at our LSVW SMP truck, the spec sheets had to be rewritten serveral times to even allow it's entry, it was chosen so we could have it built in Canada by western star in BC ...not because it passed DND's testing, it actually failed all it's DND's tests, until final DND was told to take it down to the desert in the states. this truck is a peice of ....t And examples of this type of purchase is in the dozens.... What the whole process needs is to be streamlined, not wieghed down by more rules and regulations....it should be made more like the US military model.
  21. I think this may be the reason, it sounds like a superior product. sniper
  22. Im no legal expert, and have not read all the posts in this thread. But there seems to be alot missing from Posits explanation of what is required for a land claim. Could this site wrong. See Chap 2 page 8 for more details. Indian affairs land claims.
  23. posit: This topic is going down hill fast. Ummm just a question about the Iroquois where do they live now, and why ?
  24. kp186: As a soldier whom has completed 2 tours in Afgan, i have some reservations about experiance and how you described it. Not true, if our army does not have that experiance or know how it will seek it out from other nations. Leasons learned are continously being added to our training from all sources around the globe , only thing is missing is actual rounds going over your head. The only thing missing is how each soldier is going to react to incoming rounds fired in his direction in anger. and nothing can prepare a soldier for that, every fire fight is different a vet may freeze, or hesitiate at any time... Regardless of how much combat time Canadian soldiers have had, we have proven ourselfs around the globe on many occasions after Korea, such as Cyprus when the Airbourne made a combat jump between the greeks and turks and pushed both sides back....Medak pocket in bosina....and many many more. and we have maintained our status of being some of the worlds finest soldiers. As for keeping our edge we as Canadian soldiers have never lost it. nor will we. As a soldier that has seen combat up close i have no wish to see it again, i would not shirk it , but i'm not going looking for it . We don't need to be in constant combat to be ready when you call.
  25. I will give you that the indigenous nations of this country have from time to time been given a raw deal. Not by Canadians but by our gov't. But then again there are lots of groups or indiv's that our gov't has been slow to deal with or resolve issues. But comments like these are for people with tin hats and they do nothing for your cause, just like blocking roads, brigdes, or rail lines, yes they bring out the media, but do nothing to sway the Canadian people to your cause.
