This is what you get when a liberal/NDP government is in charge of our national security...Had our security apparatus been in top shape Iran would not have even thought of this crazy idea...it's poor shape emboldened them to take action....and risk a declaration of war... i mean come on on A sitting member of parliament, if they can target this guy, what about anyone else.. This whole post is a waste of bandwidth, The left don't care about security....it much to difficult a topic for them...and yet here we are with this being splashed all over the news....Canadians deserve this government they really do...god they must be so proud....

Ok i get it they are just wreckers,whats the big deal..... what is totally surprising is that they are perhaps the best in the world....what is Canada doing with them ....Why we did not buy the entire fleet of these type of trucks is mind boggling...after all most european nations run them as well as the UK and Australia .. I've seen a lot to of trucks in my career, but nothing like this one, they are beasts be it in 4 feet of mud pulling a 35,000 lb vehicle, or rescuing a LAV 6.0 with full armor in a swamp.....without even grunting....Winning a race against a Main battle tank x cross country and including jumping 5 foot anti tank ditches not many tanks can do that let alone a truck...anyway sorry about the rant...not many wheeled vehicles get a rise out of me as a infanteer, but these trucks are from another world....you really have to work on getting one stuck..with a full load, and on soggy ground, this thing keeps on moving....they race these trucks on the dakar rally race...

See thats why this country has doubled it debt load in the last 8 years....this is the attitude most leftist have ....lets just print some more....it's only paper or numbers in a leger...Someone has to pray this money back, you, me your grandkids, their grandkids...

If ANY vehicle is used in a theater of operations odds are it will see combat...One does not have to assault a position to get shot up....just like the Iltis jeeps, Gators, G Wagons....all either open air or thin skinned.... After the last Gwagon got blown up, all our logistic vehs were armored cabs, G wagons replaced by MRAPS....none are intended to be used in an assault... LAV's are for mechanized troops....If a task came up for LAV's to be used it would fall to the mechanized Infantry.... If they were seizing an airfield, Helo port, bridge behind enemy lines that would go to the light Infantry, they would either para in or use Helos.... Light infantry trained and operated BV-206, skidoo's, or canvas covered trucks for transport...or use Herc's or Helo's to insert....Very rarely do Light infantry operate in small groups, thats what the SF boys do... When light infantry assault something it is normally done on foot...with fast air/ Arty, or helo support to act as heavy weapons support...Don't get me wrong BV-206 do have heavy Weapons mounted on them and can and are used to support any assaults'. To the question WHY did they purposely buy these open air vehicles ...I have no clue, they provide no advantage over the means of transport they have now...None.... The military has a long history of using equipment in combat that was meant for other reasons, ie training or way in the rear....You seemed to be of the idea that our government or those in charge of these purchases care what they send soldiers into combat with...I mean look at WWI, WWII, Korea, Afghanistan, the list goes on and on...

This is one of the best logistics vehicles on the planet, Not sure why we did not replace our entire fleet with this vehicle type. as it comes in all different types such as 4x4, 6x6, 8x8, and 10x10 all with many common parts making the logistics tail even smaller.... While in Germany Canada used the MANN (at the Time) 10 ton trucks as all purpose ammo/ logistic vehicles, until we left then gave them to the Germany Army.... Every year our Leo's tanks would race these trucks cross country , including over a small anti tank ditch and these trucks would kick ass...and those were the KAT 1 versions...I can't imagine what has been improved since then... They used to say on e in a decade they would get purchasing right...This has got to be that once in a decade moment...sure the Mech's guys are excited...Bravo Zulu to whomever is in charge of this purchase... I hope they are rated to pick up the LAV 6.0, as the HL wreckers could not pick up the Lav III for the most part needed to be flat bedded....Curious as to why they did not go with the 10 x 10 version of the wrecker, as did many other countries...

It's a stupid idea, and stupid investment this is not the only stupid investment they have made....along the idea of sell ice to the north....in winter....AAAHHH it's only 25 cents...it's 9 million dollars....that could have gone to health care, infra structure....a new apartment for some diplomat...

I agree if the investments make sense, and if the jobs are worth the investment...in this case i think it is already bust... ...I would have thought a good business case would be to open it closer to where the market is...or better yet look at business that will not only employ Canadians but also attend to a need or a want in Canada.... The liberals don't really have a good record of wise business investments, other than providing tax payers money for their own companies or friends then they rock that sh!t.

Regardless of what others eat, i don't think here in Canada and i may be wrong.... but i have not seen a restaurant, food cart that sells those yummy crickets we all have been talking about, nor are they listed as the top ten thing to eat here in Canada........ I think the article is pointing out this is just another example of our government foolish spending opportunities... first investing in farming insects here in Canada, where fast food rules our diets...it's stupid...second did anyone even look at the business case or who was selling the idea...was it another minister in the liberal government , hey i had to ask not like it is not common practice with the today's liberals... Anyways good luck trying to sell that idea to Canadians as a food source....when i can get a burger with in a 10 minute drive and i live in the country....one without any insects that i know of...

That would make us super men i guess or just lucky....... Cougars 76 mm tank trainers used in Bosnia, where purchased to train tank crews in Canada not meant to be taken out of country , and yet seen operational deployments in Bosnia, Somalia, and more... Iltis open air jeeps (Unarmored, no weapons )seen combat in Afghanistan , well until enough people died then they bought the G wagon and it was replaced becasue enough people died, then they purchased MRAP's see a pattern here.... LeoIIA4 tanks purchased as tank trainors, they do not have the armor or FCS needed for combat, and yet they are sitting in the front lines in Latvia, not to mention in combat in Ukraine....If it is green army is going to use it, and use it anywhere....thats my point, we have a long history of doing just that becasue sometime sthere is no alternative... Snowmobiles and ATV are used in combat....In Afghanistan a few soldiers were killed on a gator hauling ammo to the troops in combat.... Ar least BV10 are armored, tracked, and can be mounted various weapons' including 50 HMG, Tow, or motars... replace the old BV 206 we have now...And are multi seasonal, equipped with blast seating, heaters, and cooling units, can swim, run over almost anything....the only thing they can not do is fly by themselves....maybe next year...

I hope he puts his fingers on a lot of things, our whole security apparatus needs to be revamped for one....except mom, nobody puts fingers on mom !...As for defense i hope he puts his knee to the back of our necks until we pass out....

This is not a one off incident, this is happens all the time, I remember in the mid 80' we were not allowed to wear our uniforms in public, not even to go to work as it upset Canadians, (talk about a moral builder) I have been spat at in airports, called viel names on the way back from work or going to the bank in my uniform, or while in civilian cloths just for having short hair...this was in Edmonton alberta,at the inter national airport coming back from a course in uniform and this random lady starts losing her mind, yelling and screaming at me for some unknown reason, the entire length of the airport until i reached the baggage claim area where security intervened, Gagetown NB some random guy threw mud on my uniform as i was walking to work.......I'm sure other soldiers have experienced or heard of other stories.. I remember being on NOV 11 Parade, in 2002 in our "nation's capitol" from Petawawa were some Canadian walked up to the long line of troops, and started yelling and screaming and spitting on them...And nobody did anything about it for at least a couple minutes...he was later escorted off by city police... Then there are at least dozens of times where people have taken a pis$ or Sh1T on the tomb of the unknown soldier... Lets not forget one soldier shot and killed in Ottawa while on cenotaph duty by another Canadian.... A recent survey done on who purchases and wears a poppy on Nov 11 ,in some provinces the percentage was as high as 40 to 50 %, when asked how many actually attended a ceremony only 30 to 40 % said they do... A veteran was offered MAID for his aliments he received in combat , it made national media , but what really happen after that....not much...he was not the only one.... Another article published in the media stated that todays Vets are offered 20 cents on the dollar compared to world war vets, and Korea vets had gotten... And finally we as a G-7 nation can not even equip our men and women with the latest in training or equipment to give them a better chance on coming home to their loved ones....Can you feel the love...how proud Canadians are about our military...Canadians have no pride in their military to them it eats up valuable funding for more social service programs ...Imagine not having the time or energy to protect your own nation...that there is where a majority of Canadians sit right now, we should all take pride in that right.... DOn't get me wrong...there are millions out there that do support vets and our military and to them i salute you...I don't have any words for the rest of you....The way we treat our vets and serving military should disgust you period...end stop...., to the point where it wants you to take action.....

All very true, after high school i had choices, take up fishing or working in the logging industry collect poggy in the off seasons....both have long since collapsed in the maritimes anyways...So ya the military was my way out of buckF8ck NB....as for my position i did fairly well as a non commissioned officer... moved out of MOMs basement by age 17....got to see the world, met some of the best Canadians in our country....Also met some d*nks but at least they got off moms couch....My sh*t has got more war time experience than your entire family tree.... All of this coming from a guy who has been caught lying his ass off on most of his posts, why would this one be any different.. The west has plenty of equipment, instead they are providing mostly old or obsolete stocks...look at what we sent LeoIIA4 training tanks....we really could have sent the whole fleet, we have 40 tanks that are fit for war.....all the others are training tanks, the tanks we sent over to Latvia are training tanks.....So ya Canada has lots to offer becasue our entire inventory is so old....as for the rest of the west same thing, europe alone could provide 3 to 4 tanks of the latest tanks, with no really loss of combat power, instead we send in hundred's of Leo I so old we even got rid of them... same as combat aircraft, and a lot opf other gear....instead NATO slow roles it support trying not to offend Russia...Ukraine is not going to last forever.... As for the lack of manufacturing capacity...well we knew this was coming for decades....even the US has let much of it's capacity fade...

The Victor writes history, the loser gets to pay for all of it.... Before that happened a lot of good men died while waiting for equipment, Don't think there is not a cost to being unprepared....our sons and daughters will pay that price....and i don't know about you but nothing this country has to offer is worth my sons or daughters lives, both of them are following in my footsteps....for a country that is so ungrateful at every turn.....We don't have a very good history of being prepared, both WW wars found us incredible short... So ya in todays environment you can a build ship in 2 to 3 years, build aircraft at 2 or 3 per month, Ukraine has demonstrated that combat losses can not be sustained with our present industrial complex...it would take years and trillions of dollars invested just in new infrastructure to meet those needs...Hence why they say the next war is come as you are....

It is one thing to say your a supporter, but it seems US has supplied arms, even position warships and manpower to Israel, UK has supplied Naval ships....and perhaps some military supplies but who other than those two do that and above the table...plus maybe a few other coalition naval ves, from various other nations.....but the list is short....

When has it not been the standard, since man has be able to swing a club, it has been this way...it is why we as a nation are so weak...
