I think this says it all. This is not a research scientist with a highly respected medical or science university. This is like a professor at the "Toronto School of Business" coming out with a new theory on Black Holes or some such. IOW, hardly a source to be taken as reliable. I want my Kimmy-Points

Evolution is typically the result of countless generations of culling. Those born with unfavorable characteristics are killed off. Weak, slow, or stupid, they lack survival characteristics, and so become victims in the "law of the jungle" wherein the strong, fast and smart survive to breed, therefore passing on their more favorable genetics. Unfortunately, once a society becomes "civilised", those who are weak, slow and stupid, are able to find niches wherein they survive and proliferate. Indeed, as a society we encourage this with welfare and other such programs which allow these genetic inferiors to survive and reproduce. What to do??? I for one am not about to play God. I would rather err on the side of compassion. But the fact remains; Civilization brings evolution to a halt, or at best, a painfully slow crawl.

Dixie Chicks Song
PocketRocket replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Ah, I SEE. I'm glad we live in a society that is so much more civilised than the Muslim world. *AHEM* So remind me once again, exactly which Muslim was it that threatened the Dixie Chicks over their original statement about GWB??? Oh, I'm sorry, it wasn't a Muslim at all??? It was a Bush supporter you say??? Oh well, that makes threatening someone's life alright I guess. Oh yes, and BTW, who the hell is Ricardo??? -
Dixie Chicks Song

They told the Pope to shut up and sing??? And told Danish cartoonists the same??? I'm not sure what would be worse, a terror campaign, or listening to Danish cartoonists singing.. -
Dixie Chicks Song
PocketRocket replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Oh my. The propensity of some people to twist a song from its original intent. Anything can be read into anything. For centuries, Christians used words from the Bible to justify killing, pillagin, plundering, and many other forms of good anti-social fun. Now the Quran is being used the same way by radicals. "Rock the Casbah" was actually considered by some to be a pro-war anthem. "Money" by Pink Floyd was considered by many to be lauding the attributes of the filthy rich. Yes, JERRYSEINFELD, it is indeed possible to read your interpretation into this song's lyrics, except perhaps for this line...... But knowing that this is not the original intent makes all the difference. -

I have stayed out of this entire issue for quite some time for a couple reasons, the main one being that I don't feel I have full understanding of the issues. But whenever I see this it sticks in my craw..... So, my question in reply to this oft-repeated statement is simple; Do you, and all your non-Canadian peers, have OHIP cards or Social Insurance Cards??? If the answer is no, please say so. If the answer is yes, then I would put to you that you are prepared to take advantage of the benefits and priviledges of being a member of Canadian/Ontarian society. I am sure at the time these treaties were laid out, that free health care was just one among many benefits currently available to you that were not included in the treaties, let alone even invisioned by the treaty participants. Still not picking sides in this, and I am, in fact, glad that McHale showed his true colours for the nation to see. This is simply an observation regarding the "We are not Canadian" attitude taken by many.

Can we separate Morality from Religion? (Poll)
PocketRocket replied to Electric Monk's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Yes, we can. Simply put, do not cause harm to others. If you want to take it one step further, do not, through inaction, allow harm to come to others. -
Killed 7 People - $200K Fine
PocketRocket replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Well, that's something. A start at least. Hey, I worked for this company one summer doing road construction in Northern Ontario. So if this company did not provide accurate information, that would certainly take some of the blame off the shoulders of those who were actually doing the digging, doncha think??? This makes me scratch my head a bit. If the gas company is being charged with not providing accurate information about the location of the pipes, and IF the diggers did do their best to acquire the information, why wouldn't this let the diggers off the hook??? Strange. Gonna have to watch this and see how it unfolds. -
Maybe you don't have windows media player....go to mercer's site, you can get it in quick time. Thanks for the reply. Actually I do have media player. It seems the problem was my browser. I'm using Firefox, and it did not automatically tie the link to Media Player. After reading your reply, I tried Internet Explorer. Worked fine. Thanks.

"Wimp" is not an insult, it's a determination that I've supported with an explanation. Is it an insult to call a wife-beater a "coward"? No. Sorry it took me so long to get back to this. Why is a wife beater a coward??? Is it not possible that some wife beater at some point in history was not a coward??? He may be a moron, but the fact that he beats his wife is no determination of his courage in other areas. As for this terse reply of yours, I notice you did not address the rest of my post, where the real meat-and-patatoes lay. Until you do, I stand by MY "determination" that you hold a personal grudge against Harper.

Did you read ALL of your links???? This is the "Read More" link for the second article on this site.... http://www.homelandsecurityus.com/site/mod...php?storyid=598 ....in which an "alternate explanation for illegals carrying KI (potassium iodide) tablets" is given. Even the website operators bought into it's credibility, which kind of makes this particular link ineffective for your purposes here. And THIS link points out that these plans were foiled, although the use of the word "interdiction" rather than something more easily undestod by the less pedantic among us, "stopped" for example, made this a bit less clear than it could have been. I have no doubt that there are some who would love to nuke any or all of the USA. But then again I have heard many of our supposedly "saner" westerners call for the nuking of large parts of the Middle East. I suppose the difference is that the loonies over there take action, while our loons simply sit at a keyboard and rant on the internet.

Admittedly, I have not read the full text of the speech; I simply don't have time this morning. But according to the news, the Pope called Islam a religion that "lives by the sword". Apparently this is the statement that ignited all the foofoorah. (note: "apparently") And to protest this statement, they are burning the Pope in effigy. Anyone else see the humor in this???
