  1. But are they set to balance their budget without a couple billion bucks per year in equalization gravy? Now that would be different.
  2. charter rights apparently cannot find a link that would substantiate his claim that the government of Canada is sitting on a $2 trillion cash trust for First Nations, soon to be $75 trillion. Maybe Chippewa knows where the money is hidden. Link. Link. Link.
  3. The railroad was not built to help the West, it was built to exploit the West. Of course. Duh. The subisdies are given by your federal govt from taxes you don't pay to benefit you in Manitoba. Of course. Duh. I don't hate Canada, just hoping that some parts of them will someday contribute something, anything to the common cause. Of course. Duh.
  4. Funny, the rest of the country calls them expenses. I got a 'loan' from my uncle last week, , I think I'll call it revenue too. Manitoba is a dead weight on Confederation, maybe the US will take it.
  5. $2 trillion is cash you say? $2 trillion divided by about 700,000 First Nations persons means the govt now owes each man, woman and child $300k and that number will soon be around $11.1 million per man, woman and child. And the govt has that in trust you say? With that kind of cash, they are bound to have a website, it only costs about $50/month. Link me to it. Now.
  6. Doesn't the Harper Government, like all the federal govts before him, throw support to First Nations to the tune of around $8 billion per year, every year? Are the Libyans getting that kind of dough now from Canada? Oh, and thanks for posting something less than a page!
  7. Love that deficit math that doesn't mention the disproportionate transfer/equalization money(billions, every year) that MB gets to 'balance' its budget off the sweat of others.
  8. No, it tells police that once there were guns at some address at some time. It does not tell them what is actually in the house now. It does not mean that there are no guns at places that do not report registered weapons. There was a crime that needed solving in Mayerthorpe? Roszko did it, never in dispute. They did not need the gun info to convict Cheeseman and his buddy, they are both dumb as posts and were going down with or without the gun evidence.
  9. would you define Winnipeg as 'world class'?
  10. The funnniest thing about this thread is that pinko thinks Winnipeg is urban.
  11. Aside from that, Fontaine is a repulsive conniving hack who enjoys the life of privilege he enjoys and wants to perpetuate for himsself and his cronies. If the future of First Nations in Canada is in his hands, they are utterly screwed. If a First Nations person were to be Liberal leader, my choice would be Matthew Coon Come, who is none of what Fontaine has become. He was run off the national First Nations political scene for calling out the cronyism and corruption. My idea for helping First Nations get a seat at the Big Table: the Minister of DIAND should be appointed by the PM and should be First Nations.
  12. You better hope they keep doing that instead of starting to shoot whitey
  13. drugs and alcohol are a sideshow, but it does give the cops and DIAND an excuse to pretend to be doing something.
  14. You are right that guns are legally supposed to be registered. The reality is that many are not and will not be because the owners have chosen to ignore the law. It is dead easy to buy ammo or new weapons through proxies and communally, common practice in some communities , known about by local law enforcement and.... ignored. I know a woman who buys ammo for at least 50 hunters in her community, all of whom own several weapons and zero are registered.
  15. the problems in Hobbema go far beyond a poor child being randomly killed. Chalk up another statistic in the war on Indians we have waged for a century and a half.
  16. In fact there is no need to register any of them, either under federal or under some potential future provincial law. More accurately, the millions of currently unregistered guns will remain that way. Hey, it is just like real life for gun registration, the reality does not match anybodys statistics.
  17. Canada has never been neutral in this 'conflict' or in many others for the last 150 years. Really, you need to forget that nonsense, we are not now and have never been a neutral country. If Canada were to become a neutral country, we'd be obliged to arm ourselves to the teeth at huge expense, like Switzerland or Sweden. To do anything else would be the stuff of gross negligence by any govt of any political persuasion. Harper is following the course Canada has followed for decades, that Canada will not recognize a Palestinian state that refuses to acknowledge the right of Israel to exist. Quite simple, quite consistent. And quite right. I am pleased that our govt for the last few decades has made this quite clear and continues to do so.
  18. No cost is too high, no tax is too onerous for the privilege of living in The Best Place On Earth.
  19. I don't understand the premise of the OP. If the talks are secret, how could I follow them? If they are secret, how could you know anything? Unless..... you are part of the Harper-Obama disinformation conspiracy intending to hide The One World Government Program until the last second.
  20. The very first thing CRA does in most cases is send a threatening letter. It is actually a form letter of sorts. known internally as a 'snot-o-gram'. It is intended to frighten and buffalo a taxpayer into paying up without CRA having to do any actual work. Lawyers often do the same thing as a matter of course in civil disputes. The difference is that most people are far more worried about CRA than some random ambulance chaser. If you write back and tell them to bring it on, and that you owe them nothing. that is often the end of it. Of course, if you do have subtsantial money owede, it might be prudent to pay up. All it costs CRA is a stamp and a few minutes labour and provides them with excellent payback.
  21. Jimmy is playing for the other team now? I did not know that.
  22. You're on crack if you believe any of that. People make careers in the union industry, just as their members do in whatever business they are involved in. If you are a paid union exec and don't know how to manage the local in such a way as to get the members to support you personally and thereby ensure dinner is served at your house, and to vote the way they are steered, you're not much good at it.
  23. It is tied with NBA for least interesting major sport on TV. The production values in the NFL are superb, but the game itself is agonizingly slow. Too much defence and too much 3 yards at a time offence, but worst of all is the interminable, endless wretched bombardment of commercials. Really, it is unwatchable with all those nitwits analyzing every nanosecond of every play. At least the CFL has so many mistakes that the result is wildly unpredictable and it is possible to remian conscious through the whole telecast.
  24. Only applies to nonprofit organizations like government and charity, for-profit corporations go bankrupt when they get that bloated.
