  1. Most people who had polio were over it in a week as well. They had flu like symptoms. Covid can have permanent impacts as well such as organ damage even after mild symptoms.
  2. Where do get that information? Are saying that people did not die from omicron variant?
  3. 6 million people died of covid. The global deaths thing is a straw man or what ever you call it. It is actually over 6.3 million people died from Covid 19. It has visted the worst catastrophe on the United States in history. That is the important fact. Over one million Americans died from covid.
  4. The kids carry the virus back to their family. What do you think the psychological effect on a 10 year old child when the learn the virus they brought home killed another family member?
  5. That would only be true once everyone is vaccianted. And that is why Canada has had a better outcome than countries like the US and Sweden. The vaccines would have maintained their effectiveness if everyone was vaccinated. That is how we defeated smallpox and how we are going to eliminate polio. The arguements that covid doesn't kill very many people and most people just had flu-like symptoms can also be said about polio. Yet nobody is saying we should not vaccinate against polio.
  6. You say "and some people did (die.)" No, over 6 million people died and counting. You talk about the financial cost of saving peoples lives. You can't compare money with life. You can always get more money, but you only have one life. We chatized people for spreading the unproven and unlikely claim that Covid was created in a lab because it had no basis in fact. All the evidence points to a natural source, like every other pandemic in history. We now have evidence that the precautions we took to prevent catching Covid also work to protect ourselves from influenza. That is what we should be teaching kids. Things like washing your hands, social distancing wearing a mask and getting a flu shot work. During the first year of the pandemic, flu disappeared.
  7. So, what do you suggest we do to prevent people from catching Covid 19? Even non-symptomatic cases can lead to long covid and organ damage. Judging from a comparison of Canadian and American experiences, the Canadian response has saved 60,000 lives.,
  8. Zeitgeist, have you any credible evidence of people dying from second hand smoke yet? All I've ever heard are things like "Everybody knows" and "people say."
  9. Unvaccinated people became petrie dishes for the virus. The virus invades the host and replicates, mutating many times. When it has a mutation that is resistant to the vaccine, it spreads into the vaccinated population. It is simple evolution. So, if you are carrying the virus, you are a breeding ground for vaccine resistant variations that can be harmful, even deadly to others. Another thing that bugs me is the idea that it only kills old people. That is a pretty cavalier attitude towards other people's lives. I'm in my mid seventies and I have every expectation to get another 32 years out of this body. For those who share that old people prejudice, smarten up, Bucko. If you start behaving yourself and show your elders some respect, you too, may be lucky enough to grow old. My seventies are the best years of my life.
  10. I hope you are right, but NRKreports, the BA-5 variant of Omicron surging in Portugal, is creating concern in Europe. This new variant is more resistant to vaccine and there may be an need to bring back restrictions again. This is what happens when there are enough unvaccinated people to give the virus a growth medium in which to mutate into a resistant variation. If it takes hold, they will have to de-design the vaccine and we will go through the whole process again. This virus will keep killing us until we take it seriously.
  11. My point is, the mandates on smoking come from the same people who placed the mandates on vaccine compliance. Members of Parliament ban smoking and they ban unvaccinated (or failure to provide proof of vaccination) people on the hill. Public Health authorities have determined that smoking is harmful to others and they have determined being unvaccinated is harmful to others. Why should there be a double standard?
  12. So is the science regarding the vaccine. If you actually have any credible evidence showing non- smokers have died from second hand smoke, I would appreciate hearing about it, providing we don't contribute to thread drift.
  13. BC man among first Canadians approved for COVID-19 ... - CBC https://www.cbc.ca › news › canada › british-columbia Wightman was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a rare condition that affects the nervous system, just days after his first and only dose of the vaccine. The condition can cause paralysis, muscle weakness, and even death.
  14. Should she be allowed to smoke cigarettes in Parliament? Should she be allowed to smoke on an commercial flight? Is that not an invasive intrusion by government? The governments and many businesses mandate a ban on smoking in many public places. How is that different than vaccine mandates?
  15. The timing of the news item coming on the heels of my unfortunate post is not lost on me.
  16. A BC man has just been offered a settlement for serious side effects from the AstraZeneca vaccine. He is one of 10 people affected.
  17. She is failing as an MP who is morally bound to set an example to her constituants. There are a number of people who have fallen victim to the mis-information put out by the anti vaccination scammers. Most people in leadership roles have publicly been vaccinated to set an example. The Prime Minister, the Queen, Presidents Biden, Trump and Putin. I understand some people are frightened of needles but there are coping mechanisms to deal with that, so she has no excuse. If she values the honour of being a Member of Parliament so little, she owes it to her constituants to resign.
  18. In the 1860's, everybody was a drunk. That was what led tp the temperance movememnt. You need to read Gwynne Dyer's biography of Sir John A. He stopped drinking.
  19. Tamara Lich and Pat King. I am not saying there is anything bad about flying the American flag. It is just not patriotic. I would avoid copying the truckers action when trying to overturn the new regulations. To get it overturned, we are going to need public support. Alienating a lot of people as happened in Ottawa, will not get support for our cause. A better strategy would be to get Provincial governments to challenge the regulations in order to delay passage until the end of the session, where it will die on the order paper. It gives the grits an out by letting them go to the voters and say they tried, and Charest can say we blocked it. It won't be an issue in the next election regardless.
  20. It is hard to classify them as patriotic people when they were flying American flags and taking American money. Having a separatist leading them doesn't help either.
  21. I'm no expert on the second amendment. If the US banned automatic and semi automatic rifles and all handguns, but left each American citizen the right to have one rifle if they wished, bolt action or lever action, maximun 10 round magazines, would that still comply with the second amendment?
  22. Pop question. I've asked several times with no answer. Why were the people in the truckers convoy in Ottawa flying American flags?
  23. No, all you needed to do is take the opportunity of getting vaccianted, not just for your own sake, but to save the lives of others. How can a rational person refuse to get vaccinated in the middle of a deadly pandemic? Refusing a life saving measure is not rational. When the vaccine was first coming out, some people were willing to do anything to get vaccinated, from flying up to the Yukon to jump the que to going to the US to get vaccinated. Nobody's right to protest legally was taken away. Nobody has a right to break the law.
