  1. You forget that the CBC is more than just news. Quirks and Quarks, Under the Influence, North by Northwest, Marvin's Room, Backstage with Ben Hepner, Ideas, Q, As It Happens, Hockey Night in Canada, the Nature of Things, the Next Chapter, Market Place, Coronation Street, Frankie Drake Mysteries, Still Standing, Murdoch Mysteries, Kim's Convenience, etc. The purpose of a public broadcaster is to provide quality programing for the broadest audience, rather than the lowest common denominator. What private broadcaster is airing proframs like Quirks and Quarks or Ideas? I am not denegrating private broadcasting but for a small market service provider, quality programming directed at a diverse audience is not possible without public financial support. The Conservative Government that founded the CBC understood a national public broadcaster is necessary to give something for everyone. If you defund the CBC, can you assure that quality programming in science, liturature and culture will continue?
  2. No, the news media is a business. The shareholders care about credibility because politically motivated bias does not attract and hold eyes and therefore, does not attract advertising dollars, and that has a negative impact on dividend cheques. Have you noticed that the politically motivated bias media doesn't make much money? Consider the Rebel or the Daily worker. What is their circulation compared to the Globe and Mail or the National Post or even MacLeans? If you want to defund a newspaper, all you have to do is turn it into a political tool. The stock price will plummet.
  3. Goddess, Dougie, Blackbird, Taxme, are you guys in? Let's back a winner. Let's fix this country. Moonbox, West, Army Guy, WestCanMan?
  4. Don't worry about that. I'll be your campaign manager. We can start construction on the log cabin you were born in as soon as you give the word.
  5. I nominate Nationalist for Leader!?
  6. The last King in our Royal Family who dabbled in the devine right was Charles I. It did not end well. It was an alien concept then as it has been ever since. While our head of state is elected by God in theory, they are still bound by Parliament and it has been that way for many centuries. They also facilitated the transition of India from a depotic system before British rule to the largest democracy in the world after they left. It was the Christian churches that abused and neglected indigenous children.
  7. Why do you care about foreign politics? American politics is normally boring. When President Trump ran for office, it became entertaining, but the fact remains, it is just entertainment. Americans are not very good at politics and certainly not worth your hatred. Nothing in politics, or life for that matter justifies hate. Politics is governened by the same rules as sport. It doesn't matter whether you win or lose, it is how you play the game. Lighten up, turn your eyes to the big leagues (Canadian politics) and get into the game.
  8. The democrats have no authority to declare anyone guilty. President Trump was tried in the senate and acquitted. According to Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, in their book Peril, the President's son, Hunter, is a drug addict. That is an illness affecting a lot of Americans. Being an addict is not a crime, anymore than cancer or TB. You don't mention his other son who was a decorated war hero. Like the many allegation of criminal behaviour against President Trump, allegations against President Biden's son are irrelevant unless they are tested in a court of law.
  9. Every church is apostate and false to another church. As I pointed out, we have been worshiping God for over a hundred thousand years. We are talking about tens of thousands of theologies. I don't think anyone has addressed the question, was Stanley Knowles evil? What are the immoral laws that the "socialists" put through? Why use an American site to argue against democratic socialism? Just for the record, Canada has never had a socialist federal government.
  10. I don't want to put words in your mouth, so what do you consider immoral? Remember that some of the controversial laws were ordered by the Supreme Court to comply with the Constitution.
  11. Since dental health and proper pharmesutical treatment are important to good health, and many low income people cannot afford dental treatment and pharmesutical intervention, the savings to the healthcare system will more than compensate for the costs of these two programs. I submit that helping avoid worse health outcomes is not evil. 1)Materialism is not a product of socialism anymore than capitalism. It is hardwired into the brain like compassion. 2)Most people who are in low income situations in Canada are in that position due to illness, incapacity or marriage breakdown. There are also periods of high unemployment where people find themselves unable to find work. 3)I've lived in both BC and Saskatchewan most of my life under NDP, PC's and Social Credit (now called Reform). The only one that didn't respect private property was Social Credit. No Conservative or New Democrat tried to take away my property. The American author is incorrect. 4)She confuses marxism with democratic socialism. They are very different. 5) This is a stretch. I don't think socialism had anything to do with the fact that several friends of mine were finally alled to get married when the law changed. The American author would rather have a traditional marriage- that is the union between a man and a womans estate and status after he bought her from her father.
  12. Render unto Caesar, that which is Caesar's. How is that different than if you owe money to any creditor? If you do not honour your debt, your creditor will take you to court and get a judgement. Are you saying the Crown is not entitled to collect money owed? We don't actually know what Jesus would have done. There isn't any surviving evidence he existed aside from multiple revisions of books written decades later. All we have to go on is our faith.
  13. Again, what is it with you and all this American stuff?
  14. You have been misinformed. David Frum explains it better than I can.
  15. I think they will start by writing you a letter. I really don't think guns come into it. The point is, you had a hand in electing them, either by working hard for the winner or not working hard enough for the loser. If you don't pay for your groceries, that is theft and you may be prosecuted. If you don't pay your rent, you may be evicted. If you don't pay for the services the Government provides, they have the right to take such action as they are entitled by law to protect their interests and the interests of the country.
  16. First, what is DDDEEEERRRRPPPP? Who is CCCG? We need some perspective here. What is the perpose of a news media outlet? Like Teck Cominco, the Royal Bank, Imperial Tobacco, the purpose is to make money. The reason they call it Main Stream Media is because it is where most people get their news. The media outlet makes money according to the number of consumers it reaches for its advertisers. The traditional way to keep people reading / watching is to strive to publish acurrate information by fact checking and corroborating. If there is a loss of credibility, there will be a loss of advertising dollars. The publication will have bias, but it is displayed openly on the editorial page. The Globe and Mail and the National Post are Conservative, the Star and the Edmonton Journal is Liberal. The Daily Worker is nuts. A mainstream paper or station will separate the opinion pages from the news pages. That is not to say they don't make mistakes but they hate mistakes because that costs money. If a journalist is BFF with a politician and discovers a scandal, they know if they don't cover it, a dozen others will. The "arson hoax" claim is good for the media. Just when a story is fading, the forces of Justice step in and make an arrest to resurrect the story. Professional experienced journalists don't care about promoting a political agenda. They need a story and when someone says something that will draw attention, they cover it because that makes their editors happy, because that makes the shareholders and advertisers happy. When a politician of any stripe tries to evade, prevaricate, or outright lie, the professional journalist will call them out. In the US, the media loved President Trump. He saved the New York Times from bankruptcy, because he was good for a headline every day. In Canada, Prime Minister Trudeau's news value deminished pretty quickly after the election until he went to visit the Aga Khan and then dropped in on India. No sooner than that faded and the SNC scandal reared its money making head. For the first couple of years of his term, Prime Minister Trudeau was the gift that kept on giving for the share holders and advertisers in the MSM.
  17. The same can be said if the dissenter heresy. (Evangelicals, Methodists, Baptists etc.) By definition, the One True Faith is the only Christian church. It goes by other names, such as Church of England, Anglican, but it is the Church that is the only One True Faith...or not. There is no one true faith. Humans, both Homo Sapien and Homo Sapien Neadertalis, demonstrated a belief in God and an after life. Perhaps the Denisovans did as well but there is insufficient data to know. Faith in God has been with us for hundreds of thousands of years. Everyone of them believed they were practicing the One True Faith. There is a radical difference between socialism and marxism / Communism. Was Stanley Knowles evil? F.R. Scott? Jack Layton? J.S. Woodsworth? W.A.C. Bennett? Why do you keep refering to Americans like Sanders? The United States is a great country but they have the most inept politicians in the western world. (Sorry Bush-Cheney. We love you and if you were President, the world would be a better place)
  18. Okay, I have had my period of reflection and find I am stupid, so now, please enlighten me. Slowly, because spelling was never my strong soot.
  19. Your assumption that I believe President Trump was innocent unless proven guilty is correct. I take issue with your use of the word "till (until.)" That would be a presumption that the guilty verdict was preordained. Unless confirms the presumption of innocence. I think the matter of further investigation is a matter for the American justice system. The office of President of the United States demands respect. It does not matter what the incumbant's name is, I always try to refer to the person as President Trump or President Biden.
  20. The Canadian state does not take taxes by force. The Parliament and Provincial Legislatures, which you had a role in electing, voted for the taxes to give you and your community the services you need and desire. If you have a problem with how tax money is spent, you have the opportunity to change your MP or MLA in the next election. If your candidate did not get elected, that is on you for not working hard enough in the campaign, or perhaps your views are different from other members of your community. Or maybe you feel entitled to live in this country rent free?
  21. The Jesuits are Christians just like you. Isn't a Christian educational institute a good thing?
  22. The idea behind socialism is an organized means of ensuring people have enough to eat, shelter and the neccessities of life. It was the perview of the temple / church / mosque, but the problem with that is so people in need fall through the cracks. Some believe government is a better platform for ensuring fewer people are in need. It has been part of the social contract in our culture going back thousands of years. The Roman government collected taxes and provided food and shelter for the poor. The myth about Nero was actually an attempt by the Roman administration to provide affordable housing. The slums were breeding grounds for pestilence, so they were burned and the residents were moved into social housing...likely with the same results we see today in the projects. Even Neanderthals took care of their less fortunate members. There is the dig at Shanidar in which the reamains of a man were found. He was about 40 when he died in a rockfall about 75,000 years ago. He was born with a withered arm and when he was about 20, he broke his good arm, which never healed properly. His remains showed he had been well fed throughout his life. His community cared for him for twenty years after he became severely disabled. He lived in a community who's graves showed a belief in an afterlife. Human compassion has been a vital evolutionary survival mechanism. Socialism could be considered an organizational attempt to improve on that. Society works as a team. "All for one and one for all" is a better strategy than what is mine is mine and the rest are on their own. Where is the evil in that?
  23. That is like asking if you are the communications officer of the GRU. It is preposterous.
  24. But it was not the media that speculated. It was the victims.
  25. There is a minor obstacle in your title called due process. Even in the US, a person is innocent UNLESS proven guilty in a court of law. Mr. Biden, President Trump and Mother Theresa all have the same rights to due process. His addiction issues are documented but the rest is speculation. The President's other son was a war hero. Does that make the President a war hero? I wish I could be praised for the actions on my children and I would hate for them to be smeared by my sins.
