It seems to me ; my nephew was able to retire from the navy after 20 years with a good pension. I doubt that he ever was in any real danger; not that others have not been. In civillian life; one needs to work much longer to be able to retire. In civillian life; we generally pay for our own education. It is a trade off. We did not send them into Iraq, did we?

Everybody in every profession feels that THEY are overworked and underpaid; including myself.

Who do you think is the problem? The suffering patients with injuries that are not being treated. Prior to the Campbell government we had waits but never this long. All the extra money for health care went to the doctors. Both government and doctors bear some scrutiny.

Canada is pissing them off????? Just what do you think the USA/British coalition is doing to a good majority of the world. We are standing with the majority on recent international happenings.

Well most of us were adamant that he does not until that country has a regime change. That is why Harper lost. We didn't want Canada to go running to Bush's USA with cap in hand. We Canada, took the right road; Bush took the low down road.

We do have to start somewhere with China. They do want more than raw products (which again makes them the same as the USA) I would guess that most of our trade surplus comes from energy (oil, naturalgas, and electricity) So...... China is now looking for luxuries for their single child spoilt children. They are one of our chief exports for coal,m I believe; not a product that we use much more but one that can reopen old mining towns and make them profitable again.

Brenda Stronach needs more time in politics before she should attempt to take on running the country. I do believe that Christy Clark left politics here in BC as she saw the "old boys network" would ensure that she would not get a chance to become Premier unless the party is completley down in the polls facing extinction such as what happened to Rita " whats her name" and Kim Campbell. Perhaps, as women; we will have to abandon voting for our favorite party and vote for the strongest female candidate in our area. Time for a revolt.

Campbell did give a huge raise to doctors and cut nurses and other support staff salaries. My husband's doctor doesn't come to his office before noon???? GP. The rich doctor's now want more golf time or ???????

That is because the premiers especially here in BC are not funding health care adequately. Lots of money for a fancy RAV line and an expensive paved road to a ski hill but not for health care or childrens services. It does not have any comparison to Russia. Geesh.

What a pile of hogwash. Other countries and previously Canada ran health care systems properly. This is all fun and games with trying to pry more money out of the federal government. It should be run by the federal government. Comparing it to Russia is hogwash. Orthopedic surgery is not elective or cosmetic surgery. People are in pain and incapaciatated and on the EI dole because they are unable to work.

Like in North Korea perhaps?????? Things couldn't get much worse for the people there. However, I do agree, if a country has the cash for a large military or a space program (Russia) why are we giving aid or forgiving debts. Defer the debt, perhaps, in times of stress but not completely forgive. Nobody forgives any of my debts.

Sound a lot like our trade relations with the USA. If we don't try for trade with China; the USA is and will leave us way behind. We have not been vigourously seeking trade with China as we should. China is posed to replace us as the largest trade partner of the USA.

What is the h does the cuts that Campbell made to our health care have to do with Russia???? What has his closing down of many hospitals have to do with Russia??? We are paying higher premiums in BC under Campbell and still waiting in pain for surgery. Boy, you sure are reaching there for excuses.

As of July 31, 20000 people are waiting for orthopedic surgery 8 to 9 weeks. Three years ago( at the start of Campbells tenure) wait times were 6 weeks for 11000. This does not include knee or hip replacements which have also risen. The article does not mention it but this time would start after seeing a specialist and having an MRI which takes 6 months or so for specialist appointment and another approx 9 months to get an MRI unless you are willing to shell out the money yourself. Private clinics have NOT shorten the wait times.

This article is on the CBC web site. Why should a engineering school be compelled to provide a prayer room for religious purposes. These students knew it was a secular school when they enrolled. More and more we are losing our Christian rights (now politically incorrect to say Merry Christmas-- we are asked or encouraged to say happy holidays) Keep religion out of our workplaces and schools. If you cannot accept thsi; go where it is provided. I worked with a girl whose religion did not believe in Christmas; she was offended when asked if she wanted to chip in for a Christmas present for our bosses; but she was more upset when she did not recieve a Christmas bonus ( This was done not in retaliation but not to offend her since she did act so offended when asked to contribute) In other words; they don't mind the perks of paid Christian holidays a well known tradition in this country. As much as I would like to celebrate every religions holidays with a paid holiday by my employer; if we did; how often would we work.

The "surplus" is NOT really a surplus. It is what we have to pay off some of our large deficit. EI should be reduced since it is now only covers when one gets laid off; mainly seasonal workers (many who are paid well due to the seasonal nature of their work) We no longer can quit a jobs despite for any reason. Employers take advantage of this and refuse raises. Some types of employment make it difficult to look for other employment while still employed. This gives the government a windfall and the working public subsidizes the seasonal workers.

NO they did not. What civillized democratic country is worse than Israel??? Name one besides the USA. In fact the reverse is true with those supporting Israel.. as long as it is Israel committing the atrocities it is okay because of the holocaust. They, of all people should know what pain they are causing innocent families. Killing innocent children is never okay.
