  1. No, seriously. You aren't suggesting that one must read this book to come to some epiphany about the way things were before and how terrible and teeth-gnashing worthy they are now because...because of Trudeau?? What I like best about this fear-mongering baseless appeal to the insufferable and mindless right-wing partisan moron crowd is the way that the dust-cover author grouped the words, "immigration, diversity and corruption" so neatly together. Sheesh. Really? Good God, if they can't even get the dust-cover description in order, the last thing I will doing is waste any time or coin trying to decipher how a published, non-fiction author could be so daft. But I'm glad you enjoyed it. Did it come with a complimentary tin-foil hat too?
  2. So now the ban deniers are in action again, disputing official reports. This time it is the Star who gets the 'C'mon man!' No ban on Harry Potter, Twilight Xmas donations, says Sally Ann You rock Sally Ann! Toronto Star: C'mon man! (but they should still ban Twilight crap, just to be fair)
  3. The analogy I would have given was 'fairy tale.' But I get the religious angle too.
  4. A "call to arms?" Is this guy advocating for armed insurrection of the government? Too late for what - more peace and hockey?!? Good God man! What sort of terroristic evil are you trying to feed us here on MLW??
  5. The Duke and Kim Darby - could it ever be better? The Duke, well, I am sure I have seen most of his movies and still watch them when I get a chance. 'The War Wagon.' Says it all. Two years later along comes 'True Grit.' When I first saw Kim Darby as Miri on the Star Trek episode of the same name, those evil 'grups!' Man on man, she was a hottie - even in the dirty make-up. For a kid in the late 60's of course. Then along came 'True Grit.' OK, it's the Coen Bros, so I am going to begrudingly watch. It will be good like all Coen Bros movies. But let's be perfectly clear here: No one - and mean absolutely no one - could ever replace The Duke. We clear?? BTW - as anyone seen 'The Last Rites of Ransom Pride?' It is a quirkly little flick about the end days of the Wild West that is sort of like Sam Peckinpaw meets David Lynch. Very interesting...
  6. I thought this was kind of funny. Hey I respect the Salvation Army, but even some of the most respected organizations deserve a 'C'mon man!" This is one: Sally Ann bans Harry Potter, Twilight Xmas donations "Black Magic??" Have they ever read or even seen Harry Potter? The guy is a GOOD wizard who is fighting the EVIL wizard and usually comes out the winner. You know, Twilight stuff I can understand, because the whole Twilight thing is despicable what with the teenaged blood letting and Twilight Mom phenomenon. But Harry Potter?? C'mon man!
  7. Yes, that irresitable force of power and higher understanding that is being nailed shut as we speak. Guess it wasn't so... juggernauty afterall?
  8. He did an actual set, so he wasn't likely drinking much. So the guy likes hockey and now it comes out he loves AC/DC. Another nail in the Ignatieff juggernaut.
  9. In other words, Health Care by committee. No thanks. I'll stick with what we got.
  10. In other words, it can't be done. Show me any complex organization in the western world without an equally complex bureacracy. Heck, even the lowly office clerk working at Joe's Garage has rules to go by.
  11. Exactly! So I implore you to present your "facts" in court and see how well they stand up. Plus, use quotes from your various sources to help the court "understand." Then let us know what the results are. I for one, would really appreciate your efforts at clearing this all up for everyone.
  12. So how often are the PSC directly involved in hiring do you think? That is, what is your estimate of hires that the PSC actually does (i.e. "is involved") for the rest of the bureaucracy?
  13. Marguerite Bourgeoys already has a sainthood and other postuhumous perks while Jeanne Mance has a building in Tunney's Pasture in Ottawa. Laura Secord already has a chocolate factory, all these famous ladies are already imaged on to one thing or another. I say, stick with the male theme, and put on Louis Riel.
  14. Depends on dead guy quotes. When you get busted, be sure to quote Thoreau. No wait. When you get busted, let me know so I can attend your hearing, then quote Thoreau. Thanks!
  15. How quaint. You mean "economic theory" like this: That sounds exactly like something pulled out of your ass. Like everyone else.
  16. Yeah, anything to avoid the truth that he is shootin' blanks. Here and at home.
  17. Oh, no worries at all. I just find it interesting to see what they are up to considering they are a failed culture and all.
  18. Absolutely. I probably have more childen than you do as well. I have 5, how many do you have?
  19. Small minds find small things amusing. Knock yourself out. Right you already admitted seeking out the lowest common demoninator is some sort of victory for the LPC. Doesn't matter what a party's platform is, if their tactics are the same old, same old - well check the latest polls. Canadians have had enough. You don't get it, Igantieff doesn't get it and until the brighter lights in the party are in charge, the LPC's victory cheer is going to be "We're #2! We're #2." They're #2 all right. "Politics is politics" is what you are saying, so why the complaint? Check the polls. Sorry, do you own research. May I suggest the poli-sci program at the University of Calgary? Exactly. They're 'separatist traitors' only because they lack the brains and vision to sell it first to their own party, then to Canadians as a viable option. The Liberal wagging and then tail-turning on the "attempt at a coalition" was embarassing. If they had a strong leadership cadre they would be in government right now. Instead all we got is some political fashion mavens too worried about optics. I'm a Liberal who has been voting Liberal for the past 25 years. What, are you afraid to hear that? Do you think that some LPC apologist garbage suddenly makes me a CPC supporter because I dare criticise the party? That is how out of touch you are really are. Even you admit that this legislation is supportable, but the LPC has certainly whipped you into shape pretty good. And neither are the LPC at this time. Thus, better the devil you know, than the devil you don't and Harper likes hockey. An apologist gets some satisfaction of being 'no worse' than the other party because "politics is politics." And why would someone get satisfaction of this degree? Because they follow the party line to a tee and are willing to sacrifice their integrity for power. That is this version of the LCP right there. There is nothing wrong with questioning the leadership of the party, the local candidate or executive of the riding association. THAT is democracy. Being a shill is not. Once again, since I dare criticise the losers I am automatically a "supporter of Stephen Harper." Silence! The grand poobah demands silence! Piss off. Here is an interesting clip from an editorial from the Star as posted by Evening Star: Harper loves hockey, so you can bet he plays the dump and chase game. Are you familiar with the tactic? Then you got alot to learn. So instead of calling the CPC bluff, instead of taking that appeasing horseshit and turning the tables, all we get is "politics is politics." Oh well. Same old thinking, same old box. For chrissakes, the Star figured it out, you think some brain in the LCP would see opportunity, but nope, they try and spin principles, do-nothing and hope for an election. Meanwhile the CPC is harvesting voters on this issue. Do you really think they really want to combat human smuggling in terms of helping people?? Gawd... So either have some balls and come out and say it, or you can continue the hypocrisy. Either way is fine with me. Already covered that above. So long as you find succor in second place, you'll be just fine. He is the Prime Minister. The CPC is the ruling party. Again. I think I have made it perfectly clear what I believe in. What I don't believe in is simply sucking back the garbage and somehow thinking it is noble because "politics is politics" after all and us Liberals have to stick together at all costs. Not with Ignatieff. Bring back the Rhinos so people have a real alternative to vote for.
  20. Here is the CPC government agenda illustrated perfectly. Slowly move jobs from the public sector to the private sector via 'management consultant' and reward all those hard working CPC supporters with some nice consulting gigs. Don't get me wrong, the Liberals did the same, but they were all about the trough where possible; the CPC it seems, want to privatize as much of the public sector as possible and organize the rest according to the latest organizational management fashion styles. One of the interesting developments - other that the demise of Frank magazine in Ottawa years ago - is the recruiting of executives from outside of the public sector domain to oversee the 'need' for these management consultants - many of which come from that executives former company. Now is this a good thing or a bad thing?
  21. I'm voting Liberal next election, which is a vote for McGuinty, if he is still the leader.
  22. What I scoff at is your partisan hyperbole that serves nothing, but your own petty interests. Who gives a crap what the "right wing in all their dogma can't" admit they are as bad as the Liberals? You admit your stink, but do nothing to clean yourself up. Good for you. Yeah, he predicted he would win. He seems to have a better grasp on it that Ingatieff. No wonder. So you don't understand how government works? Funny, I was thinking your were incapable of simple thought. They are the government, they were elected to form the government. The LPC don't even have the balls to form a coalition, nevermind their whining about "procedure." Are you kidding me?? Have you been following along or are you just spinning away in your little idealogue tornado? Think for a minute, you admit the LCP is just as bad as the CPC. No kidding. Don't you think practically every other rational Canadian can see that as well? Why bother with change when it isn't offered? And the CPC government is working out OK, why not keep them in since the alternative is just as bad as they themselves admit? Taking a stand and leading what exactly? The race for number two? Again? Because that's politics toots. And if you are incapabe of raising the bar - and be seen doing it - then there is no leadership and there never was. No, you admit the politic tactics are the same - the same lying, the same bullshit, the same disingenuous spin, the same manipulative crap - that lost the last two elections for the LPC - and you are expecting some sort of sympathy? Puh-lease. Liberals To Kill Tories' Controversial Human Smuggling Bill So do nothing. Hope for an election. In the meantime Canada has no response to human smuggling. Excellent "leadership." Let me refresh your memory from yesterday: Now take a look at the quotes from the news story above. Even YOU think it makes sense to revise and work on the Bill and I think that is a sensible course of action. But the so-called "leadership" of the LPC has something else in mind and it certainly doesn't appear to have anything to do with a Canadian response to human smuggling. Well, that's politics for ya! Considering he accused the Liberals of being just as guilty, which I personally think is crap, yeah I would say it's non-partisan. But you are partisan and an apologist, so you would see it as crap. Even though you admit that working on this Bill is a good idea. Obviously you didn't get the message right away. I am not "disputing the facts" I am saying they are irrelevant. As in, who cares? Oh good God - are you daft? Are you having trouble following along or keeping up there Nicky? If you are describing the current state of the LPC leadership then I approve this message.
  23. Interesting cable from wikileaks, not sure if it has been posted here already. 10BEIJING263 For example: Man 'o man, the Chinese Academy of Science is rocking some cool ideas!
