  1. He has a certificate of live birth proving he was born in Hawaii... but you don't question his citizenship... just whether on not he was born in the US? He has shown the document given to him by the state of Hawaii. They say it's fine. Heck, even Ann Coulter says it's fine. Do you really want to be nuttier than Ann Coulter?
  2. Or the guy who confused O Canada for Oh Tannenbaum.
  3. Right. So who are you blaming here?
  4. Last year my kids performed at Sea World in San Diego. There was a mix up with the music for the anthems, so they asked if a few of us parents would sing O Canada. We agreed... but fortunately the CD worked so we didn't have to "perform". We did, however, sing along with all 3 anthems (Canada, US and Breat Britain) After God Save the Queen was over, the ladies in front of me wondered aloud why they played America the Beautiful. I told her it was Great Britain's national anthem, so she said, "they must have stole it from us." I'm wondering.... how would someone know they had to "aggressively volunteer music and vocals"? When I'm at an international event, I assume the anthems are taken care of, unless I hear an organizer frantically trying to find music.
  5. So? It's not found on mine or my kids' birth certificates either, but it's all the proof of citizenship needed.
  6. It matters to most of us. There's a difference between enforcing a daily singing and treating 2 anthems unequally at an international event.
  7. What? You only get one if you order it.
  8. THat's a lot of ifs. The certificate of birth wouldn't have been issued if there were blanks. You're really reaching here.
  9. haha! No, he's alive and well, and still a big guy. My boy is pretty excited. Fielder was signing autographs, but was finished when my son went out. He happened to see him walk into the washroom. He claims he wasn't really stalking him... he had to go too......
  10. In other other words... the Cert of Live Birth lets you know the details exist on the long version.
  11. My son went to the Vancouver Canadians baseball game tonight with his all-star team. Hall of Famer Cecil Fielder threw the first pitch... and he signed my boy's ticket after chatting in the washroom. How cool is that?
  12. THey didn't have the right to sell the book in the US... but their own license agreement would trump that? I don't think so.
  13. You can't be 45. I already claimed that age.
  14. This is 4 years old! It's not completely accurate anymore. That said, I'm 45.
  15. My post continued to talk about what Bill Maher mentioned in the article. You chose to ignore that for your own reasons. That doesn't make for valuable insight. I had you figured well before this morning.
  16. Maybe the people who like fair trade coffee aqre interested in seeing the growers receive a fair profit too? Given your statement in parenthses, it's odd that you'd turn around and ask that.
  17. Oh, I see. You're arguing the title, not the article itself. My mistake for assuming you actually read the thing and had some opinion on that. So what's next... shall we chat about the daily headlines?
  18. So, after praising a definition for not mentioning the US... your response is to nit-pick it for how the US is better... or at least, not worse? Not really sure why, but that gave me a chuckle.
  19. I'm not a 416er, so I don't really care.
  20. No, it's really not. Obama was asked for proof and he gave it. Were the other candidates - past and more recent - held to the same scrutiny?
  21. The "value" of the headline is that you have an idea what the article is going to be about. THat's of value to people when deciding what to read or not. You think I didn't understand your egg analogy? You seem to think the only alternative to making a profit is to lose money. That's not the point here. Great! Bill Maher lists examples of things he doesn't think *need* to make a profit. I have no idea what point you're trying to make here.
  22. That was in reply to this post: So maybe the truth is that it's YOU who can't "define" anyone else without mentioning Americans.
  23. It's not the catchiest, true, but it's not dumb, in that it has value. because you say so?
  24. Of course. THe trade imbalance is in our favour, after all.
