Hey, at least I'm not being a jackass like I was when I first joined. We are arguing in peace without me spewing rhetoric and as smallc says, hyperbole.

It seems that many Canadians would readily accept a foreigner bossing us around. I wouldn't. I don't think foreigners should be able to be PM but that's what we're setting ourselves up for. I like the law in the US that states that a foreign born person can never be President.

Top court says Ottawa broke law in financing EI
Mr.Canada replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What did the Tories spend that surplus on? -
Damn, I fumbled the ball and left the door open for you to say that. I must be more careful in the future. I'll get better at this. Thanks. No rhetoric, no hyperbole, I'm making an effort to not be a jackass all the time. Now wheres my pat on the head?

She isn't Canadian. I don't want outsiders deciding our Canadian laws and policy.

Ignatieff on 'The Current'
Mr.Canada replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That doesn't make it false. Perhaps fiscal Tories are good money managers. Perhaps economists are so used to glazing over Liberal books that responsible money management has been so foreign to them that they have a hard time believing it is possible. It took Harper 10 years to uncover ADscam, I guess every economist kept it to themselves until then. -

The LPC or the coalition will not? Is this your position? -
Ignatieff on 'The Current'
Mr.Canada replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I see, so every Liberal PM that Harper ran against was open and forthright with showing the people of Canada the books whereas Harper keeps them hidden from public view. Is this your position? -
I never mentioned anything of the sort. I said she is an American, which she is. In politics, one focuses on truth that discredits a candidate and ignores other truths that make the target look favourable. This is the game.

Ignatieff on 'The Current'
Mr.Canada replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I see. Mr. Harper had a fiscal plan in every election he partook in. Is that due to him being clairvoyant? -

Elizabeth May certainly is an American.

Ignatieff on 'The Current'
Mr.Canada replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Before IGantieff is floated in as PM I'd like to hear what the LPC actually stands for and what it's fiscal plan is. So far they are mute on both accounts. -
The NDP are a protest party, nothing more. They haven't earned any right to a senate seat as far as I can see. Elizabeth May(GP) who is an American, sitting on our Senate? No thank you.

Conservatives Double Liberal Spending
Mr.Canada replied to Fortunata's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I would rather have Paul Martin but so far he's all we got. -
How so?

The way Americans make beer has changed. Regular beer now has 5% across the board from my experience. We went over during this past Labour Day weekend. It tastes just as good as ours. I love Regular coors, that isn't sold in Canada any longer, and it was good.

BoC warns of possible mass home foreclosures
Mr.Canada replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If people cannot afford to buy a home they shouldn't. The government should not be bailing people who are poor money managers. What's next? Someone cannot pay their auto payments so the government will pick up the tab. No thanks. I work damned hard as do many others. I work hard I get to buy things. I pay my bills on time, my credit is good. Why should this change? This isn't a communist country where everyone gets a house and car if they do nothing to better themselves. -
jdobbin, is every single thing that Harper or the Tories do wrong? You seem to attack them no matter what they do. Is it that this is a political forum and everyone is supposed to be hyper-partisan? Just curious.

Welfare is intended to be temp. not a perm. source of income. It's intended to not be enough and to get citizens off their backside and get to work.

Meh, I heard an Englishman say it in a pub once, sounded good and thought I'd give it a try.

Bob Rae to end bid for Liberal leadership: CTV
Mr.Canada replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
We shouldn't fund them at all. However schools should be free to be created and fully funded by pupils and alumni, in other words, privately funded. -
Guyser, I wasn't making trying to make a silly statement. You may well be right about being referred, I have no idea. For the record I'm glad that you and your mother are getting the best of care, as Canadians we deserve no less. God knows we have enough in this world to worry about. Politics is a hobby, it's enthralling and passionate at times but that takes a back seat to things that actually matter. I won't cheapen my statement by saying anything further about this.

Legalize Marijuana and Prostitution
Mr.Canada replied to PoliticalCitizen's topic in Political Philosophy
Yes, exactly Oleg. I'm fully against street level hookers and penalties should be stiffened. However, the sex industry should be regulated along the same lines that booze is. Almost everyone likes sex just like booze so lets regulate it, license it, tax it and run it in a clean way off the streets and tastefully. Like dial a bottle. -
Many on the left are young idealists whereas the right are realists. I once supported the left in my late teens to early twenties but life experience has refined my mind and have realized that being a conservative isn't a bad word, this sentiment is growing. Even in the cities people are realizing that a vote for the Tories is a vote for Canada and a vote for Canada is never wasted. People are waking up.
