Obama Keeps Gates as SecDef
Sir Bandelot replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
You're quite welcome. And I'm glad that my kudos in this case, do amount to more than a piece of koon shit... Did Mr. Gates have much of a political life before he was offered this position? Not sure but I think he was in the Auto industry from what I recall, some kind of business executive. Well if someone does their job right, let them continue. There's plenty of time to change out Gates later anyway if that should become necessary. I guess you could say, they will do whatever they want, regardless of whether you agree, or not... right? -

There's different kinds of winning. Economics is a major part of war strategy so it has to be considered. Everythings about balance and if other countries don't do their part, it comes down to some more realistic questions, not just slogans... If victory is impossible, it's even more retarded to just keep pouring money into it and watching lives piss away, when the outcome would be the same in each case. That is frugal, good economics. So, thats the reality your just not trained to know about... Yep, time for barking dogs to get back into their cages -

So everything is ok then, you don't need any help? Your only enabler is the politicians... they hold the money bags that pay for the guns and stuff. So, sure maybe sometimes an army can win the war, then it's not a question of win but how much it costs to win. Even, what does win really mean, if the long term outcome is more or less the same as what could be achieved, by some other means... -

Which proves that such military interventions are expensive and innefective means to solve the problem. this has been the case in the history of Afghanistan. PN Karzai and his people are frustrated it is taking so long... not really they are used to it for at least 150 years, they know it will actually take forever to solve the regions problems. But look, a few talks with the taliban and the situation could immediately change, without a single cruise missile being fired. -
Obama Keeps Gates as SecDef
Sir Bandelot replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Strategically this is a very smart move to maintain continuity and troop support as the new administration settles in. This shows real wisdom is in the decision and non-partisanship. Gates seems to handle the role well. The larger question of troop withdrawl, tied to redeployment elsewhere can still be addressed. -

Bank of Montreal reports Q4 profit of $560M
Sir Bandelot replied to Sir Bandelot's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Here is what I actually said- -
Bank of Montreal reports Q4 profit of $560M "$560-million profit in the quarter ended Oct. 31 was worth $1.06 per share, up from $452 million or 87 cents per share in the year-ago period. BMO said it ended the quarter and financial year with a solid Tier 1 capital ratio of 9.77 per cent, and its annualized return on equity of 14 per cent reflected the benefits of its diversified businesses. Full-year net income of $1.98 billion or $3.76 per share was down from the previous year's profit of $2.13 billion, $4.11 per share.' Anyone not see the irony in this latest news artical?

Thats the way it should be in a minority government, I say let it happen. What Layton needs to do first is make sure all Canadians know about the level of betrayal happening here, with the Harper gang. This needs to be brought out in public more so that the people know, we have been lied too -

Here is the link for it- Nov. 21, 2008 "President-elect Barack Obama won the Democratic nomination with the enthusiastic support of the left wing of his party, fueled by his vehement opposition to the decision to invade Iraq and by one of the most liberal voting records in the Senate. Now, his reported selections... suggest that Mr. Obama is planning to govern from the center-right of his party" Obama intends to lead from Right Center - MSNBC.com -

Knives out for Palin
Sir Bandelot replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
True American Woman it's a mistake to generalize like that. Each of us have different personalities and only choose to show them when it's appropriate. No one is just a business person, or angry politician all the time. We all have different roles in our life. Each of us has a business persona and a family one. But they might not choose to put them on public display. The question is, where is that behaviour appropriate... does it have a place in politics, or business. I'm not implying it should be banned or only ugly people should enter politics. Just trying to consider, what is their message. On other words, what is this person selling? And with Palin... well... -
Knives out for Palin
Sir Bandelot replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Perhaps but I don't think it's a position that should require so much on-the-job training. There should be minimum requirements. I don't think she had any special merits that made her better than the others. Except for her personal popularity, which was enormous and accounts for most of the support that she got. Thus she was truly just a publicity stunt... -

I don't look at it that way, I think there's leadership and then there's baby-makers. Hillary is married and a mother so she must have a feminine side, but some women (and men) are dominant and some are recessive. let the leaders lead, by whatever style works well. Also let the babymakers stay home IF THEY WANT TO.
