  1. Haven't you heard? These are conservative cod. "Neo Cods"
  2. Of course that is wrong, that almost goes without saying. But it's wrong to apply this criticism to muslims en masse, when there are millions who are just as appalled by the violence as anyone else. And that is what I keep trying to tell people, somewhat akin to criticizing christianity for the crusades. It's not the spirit of the religion, that was hijacked by people who use its name as a cover for their ambitions. Or, that a group of Jews is controlling the whole economy of the world, therefore all Jews are evil and must be eliminated. So lets paint a graffiti on the walls of the synagogue. Same difference?
  3. Wichman entirely missed the point with his divisive comments.
  4. And yet interestingly today General Jim Jones, the current US National Security Adviser in an interview on CNN clearly denied this. As he states, there will be a lot of speculation at times like this, but "we stick by our assessment" (that the nuclear program was halted in 2003 and Iran is no closer to achieving nukes). So, whose propaganda is this
  5. Iran is going to be allowed to run its reactors and continue making enriched uranium. As long as they play the game right and cooperate with the regulators, Obama does not have a problem. He's smiling again. As he put it... "Since Iran has agreed now to co-operate fully and immediately with the International Atomic Energy Agency... " Err... Mr. Obama, it appears that they agreed before you started jumping up and down about it.
  6. Maybe the left doesn't believe in that law.
  7. I would not doubt for one second, that if a serious pandemic did break out that would change. Forced vaccinations, especially for the young whose parents don't want to vaccinate. Then in effect we are all property of the state- not just your goods, or your wealth or your land... but your hide.
  8. From what I can ascertain, McCrystal is recommending that if they are to win this war according to the current mission objectives, a "surge" is necessary to defeat the Taliban. Without this, the mission is lost . He recommends either the full surge, or not at all. No half-measures. These other guys are criticizing him, as the article states " a lot of assumptions were exposed to the light of day" in his report. And the one that they specifically highlighted, is that McCrystal is incorrect in his assertion that a return to power of the Taliban also means a return of Al-Qaeda. They are defending the Taliban... or at least seem to be advocating that it would be alright for the Taliban to be in power again.
  9. White House eyeing narrower Afghan war effort Top officials challenge General McChrystal's assessment One senior administration official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the meeting, said, "A lot of assumptions -- and I don't want to say myths, but a lot of assumptions -- were exposed to the light of day." Among them, according to three senior administration officials who attended the meeting, is McChrystal's contention that the Taliban and al-Qaeda share the same strategic interests and that the return to power of the Taliban would automatically mean a new sanctuary for al-Qaeda. Ok, let me dumb it down for some of you... this means they are recommending the option of allowing the taliban back to political power, presumably as part of the shiny new illegitimate (but democratic!) government of Afghanistan. Eliminate the Taliban? We will not negotiate with Taliban? Never mind
  10. The way I see it, they have less risk of being sued so they don't need to worry as much about quality control, testing and clinical trials. They can put the product to market faster. That gives the pharmaceutical companies an advantage to make more profit, while the risk is carried by the government. IE the taxpayer will cover it, not the big pharma corporations. They just take the money and run. What a sweet deal
  11. Naa I would be a liberal, but I hate Ignatieff. I would be an NDP'er, but I hate Layton. I would be a CPC'er... etc
  12. And some probably will want to change, and would voluntarily make use of available treatment. Some might even volunteer for castration... but the ones who want the treatment won't even have the choice. The only option they have left is what the Tories give them- no treatment, longer prison terms. In the end they are released anyway, maybe worse than when they went in.
  13. Well if there's any positive outcome for a CPC majority, it will hopefully be the complete annihilation of the Liberal party, to the loss of official party status in the house. I would welcome that. The LPC is an outdated dinosaur from the past that is unable to set itself on the right course. It is no longer useful to Canadians. The party must be dismantled, and maybe a new one rebuilt. Let a new phoenix rise from its ashes. I believe its in the best interest of this country, in order to go forward.
  14. Right, but how else are we going to get those shirts for $19.99? Or any other thing for sale, in any store, anywhere it seems... But despite your criticism of China, it's quite apparent that our western governments do not take the same issue. Empire State Building turns red-yellow for China's 60th NEW YORK — New York's iconic Empire State Building will light up red and yellow Wednesday in honor of the 60th anniversary of communist China. The upper sections of the building are regularly illuminated to mark special occasions, ranging from all blue to mark "Old Blue Eyes" Frank Sinatra's death in 1998 to green for the annual Saint Patrick's Day. --- "Economics Trumps Virtue"
  15. Where exactly is this 'cash mountain'? Do they have a nice ski resort there? I've got 5 people in my house, so they must be holding my $150,000 in safe keeping for me.
  16. Not sure about that, but in any case you'd have a long way to go. Even murderers get released eventually. Maybe they cannot be rehabilitated, no matter what. But what if a person does show genuine remorse, and does change themselves and their life. What if a person was young and naive, or things somehow got out of hand and they made a mistake? I believe they should still be punished, yes... but for life? Besides the length of sentencing though, it's obvious that this is a step backwards (eliminaing treatment), as are the mandatory minimums and other so-called "tough on crime" agenda of this party. Canada moving back to the sotne ages. What next, public floggings ala Taliban?
  17. Well I would say he sucks, because I have specific issues with Jack. He is a big disappointment, and a traitor. In my view NDP would do well to replace him with someone else.
  18. Good, because Jack Layton and the NDP SUCKS
  19. First of all, as a real conservative this party offends me by calling itself by the same name. It's become increasingly clear that they don't support any form of rehabilitation, either for sex offenders or drug addicts. Their enthusiasm for mandatory minimums is also testament to this attitude- incarcerate, with impunity. But hey, there's big money for the prison industry. And that's what this party is all about.
  20. Claim?
  21. Err... maybe some of you folks have bad memories but I do not. It only came down to semantics, the definition of "bail out". http://www.cbc.ca/money/story/2008/10/10/flaherty-banks.html The federal government's $25-billion takeover of bank-held mortgages to ease a growing credit crunch faced by the country's financial institutions is not a bailout... Anyway we argued that one enough, eh... lets leave the doublespeak to the politishans
  22. Great idea. Why don't you go and ask for it back Dancer. Don't forget to put hat in hand.
  23. They didn't vote for the economy to collapse either. They may not have voted for his radical left wing ideas as you put it, but besides that they also didn't vote for George Bush to hold hands with his friends in Saudi Arabia, probably the worst country in the world when it comes to dictatorship and tyranny. If you think the president would only hold hands with nice people you're naive. It's not about liberty, it's about whose side you're on. If the country cooperates with America, it's never a problem about human rights. What else didn't you vote for. I didn't vote for Afghanistan. I didn't vote for the bailout of Canadian banks, or the stimulus package that mysteriously cured our ecomonic problems without spending it. Something tells me, even if I did or didn't vote for these things, they's gnna happen anyway
  24. It's only a minority by one percent
