Just like Duffygate. He's a micro-manager right up to the point where it's time to find someone to take the fall. Then he's completely oblivious.

So when the Conservatives cheated on elections and redirected voters to the wrong poll, they meant well?

Bad as Mulroney was (and he was pretty bad), at least his attempts at constitutional reform were well-meaning. You can't say that about cheating on elections or manipulating the senate. Or race baiting politics.

Seems way too early for this question.

Strategic Voting - It needs to be done
ReeferMadness replied to marcus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It's not just the people running, it's the people supporting them. Adscam was a betrayal but as you said, the Liberals lost power because of it. The Conservatives have cheated on every election (and actually obstructed the investigation in the robocalls scandal) but their base hasn't changed at all. -
Oh. You mean like someone can say that homosexuality is a malady that can be cured and people will fall for it.

That's because there are too many hypocrites. Harper rode into Ottawa on promises of openness and transparency. He clearly has not delivered but people will vote for him anyways. The people who are cutting those thousand dollar cheques need to have the integrity to face down their local party and tell them that those cheques won't be there until the transparency returns. Until that happens, we should expect more of the same. -
Even in the worst days of Brian Mulroney (and he was pretty unpopular), I don't recall the type of outpouring against a leader in Canada. The outrage against Chretien was that of people against a common thief. This is different. There is a very visceral outrage against this foul man. Check out this poem set to video. He nails Harper.

Maybe they could try a pastel sweater vest and have him talk like Mr Rogers.

Strategic Voting - It needs to be done

I would recommend looking at all of the sites and then applying your own knowledge of the situation on the ground. I know that at least a couple of the sites have a false sense of what is going on in my riding as well. -
Strategic Voting - It needs to be done

Another strategic voting website (and aptly named) anyonebutharper.net. -
Yup. Harper is running around trumpeting TPP but forgetting to mention that CETA isn't ratified. Cuz he got political mileage out of it last year.

Another fine commentary from a patriot and a "real" conservative about the odious man who is unfortunately PM. It's so well written and poignant, I'd like to use it all. But I'll choose the segment on race baiting: and leadership. In a week, let's choose better for next time.

Harper's Rare Misstep on the TPP
ReeferMadness replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That's really not helpful. -
Sad but true. There's really no choice when it comes to the politics of economics.

Oh. In that case, just ask a bunch of random strangers on the internet who may or may not like you. :D :D Stocks will definitely go down - no matter who wins. Sell! SELL!!!

Harper's Rare Misstep on the TPP
ReeferMadness replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yeah. And yet people not only accept it, they've already decided it's a good deal based on what Harper and right wing economists say. Democracy is a facade. According to Wikipedia, the Americans have briefed Corporations on the deal - but who has Harper involved in Canada? Is it just the government or has he brought in oil companies and the big banks? Does anyone know? Does anyone care? The fact is that this is now a done deal for Canada. The only way it won't pass is if the US or Japan turns it down. Canadian citizens are peons - Harper is trading away our rights without telling us. And it seems most of us don't even know. Or care. Here are a few other choice quotes from Wikipedia: (we're not even being told who Harper has consulted) millions of lives. It goes on and on. This is why this agreement was negotiated in secret and sprung on us. This isn't about being good for Canada or being bad for Canada. It's about what is good for corporations and bad for citizens. -
Harper's Rare Misstep on the TPP
ReeferMadness replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So you and the rest of Team Harper can't have it both ways. Either it's a secret and he shouldn't be talking about it at all - or it's not and it should be released. The whole process of him patting himself on the back and using it for political points while telling us he can't release the details shows a distinct lack of integrity. And I don't really care what Chretien did. -

Now, we're hearing Harper has given away the farm on intellectual property. That would explain why they are so reluctant to release the full text on the deal. -
Like the 600 dumb academics who signed the open letter? I guess you think smart people believe in conversion therapy.
