  1. Doesn't it depend on how long it's been since the last election? Harper could easily drag his feet on the throne speech and delay it well into 2016. Who knows what could happen between now and then?
  2. I would like to see legalized, regulated prostitution as well - but I don't think that was anywhere in the LIberal platform. And more to the point, legalizing is not the same as "mandating". This guy is out of his gourd. The Conservatives sound more and more like Republicans of the north.
  3. Just how desperate can the Conservatives get? This nutter claims the Liberals will "mandate brothels". WINGNUTS!! GET YOUR WINGNUTS HERE!! CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN!!!
  4. It never ceases to amaze me the types of statements that are made on MLW. You're a Conservative supporter, you say. Maybe you should be a government spokes person.
  5. I would say that would be true only if the LIbs get a majority or a very strong minority. If they get something in the 130-140 seat range, they will have to work with someone and Trudeau has been adamant it won't be any party led by Harper. In the fullness of time, it might be possible for Trudeau to work with the Cons once Harper has left and there is a decent interval to let people forget. In the beginning, though, he will have to make nice with the NDP.
  6. I usually go with CBC Polltracker which is an aggregator of polls. Liberals - 35.1 Conservatives - 31 NDP - 23.3 The seat count projections rely on a lot of math and it will be interesting to see how close he is. It says the Green can't get more than one but I know they have a legitimate shot in Victoria as well.
  7. I always do anyway. And I have not been happy with "anyone" for the past 3 elections.
  8. I like STV. It provides PR while still allowing a focus on individual people, not just the party. ETA: which is why, I believe, it's not used more. Parties and party insiders don't like it.
  9. I don't know. They've been saying "The Harper Government" for the past 10 years. The entire party brand is synonymous with dear leader.
  10. You don't have to convince me - I live in BC and witnessed the STV debacle. It was headed by 2 senior NDP insiders. I will say, though, that I personally believe that Gordon Campbell was a supporter of PR. And I believe you - Trudeau will try to push through AV, which is why I would prefer he didn't get a majority. In the federal case, however, the NDP has no interest in AV or FPTP and this election will only solidify that sentiment. After 10 years in the wilderness, there might be sufficient appetite on Team Liberal to go along with it. Hope springs eternal.
  11. Mohamed Fahmy expresses his sentiments at being abandoned by this government. You have to wonder if the government would have pushed harder had he been white and had a Christian sounding name. Disgraceful.
  12. AV is not PR. It should be rejected.
  13. Any way we could get them down to 5th?
  14. You want to be a bit careful relying too much on this poll. It was an automated poll and they are less reliable than talking to real people. Some of the results look questionable. For example, I see that it says that the NDP have a lead in Cariboo-Prince George and Okanagan-Shuswap. I won't say it's impossible but I will believe it when I see it. If this is really the case, the bitterness expressed by Conservative supporters here at MLW will have some basis come next Monday.
  15. That is a valid concern - but I'm skeptical they can pull off a majority.
  16. I'm outraged. Trudeau will be the most dishonest Prime Minister since..... Harper!
  17. Isn't it a bit early for all the bitterness? The Conservatives haven't even finished losing the election yet.
  18. And the latest sign of the desperation of the Conservative campaign is, get this, they have called in the Ford brothers to save their troubled campaign. :D :D
  19. So, a decade after Harper coming to power on a platform of accountability and transparency, government secrecy is so deeply engrained that a government leak is now considered a threat to democracy and a reason to call in the RCMP. Let's get rid of these guys in 6 days.
  20. More Harper Lies Macleans Magazine corrected Harper's crap about how the Liberals are allegedly raising taxes. Dear Canada. Please give this odious party so few seats that they will tar and feather this cretinous man and run him out of town.
  21. So you believe that Duffy needed Harper's permission to repay the money? "Good to go" meant that Harper approved Duffy repaying his expenses? Again, I think you would be among a very few people who would believe that.
  22. Hahahahahaha You think Harper read about it in the papers? lol If you really believe that, you're the only one.
  23. Harper was the issue. His supporters kept trying the "nothing to see here, folks" line but the issue was less about Duffy or Wright than it was about Harper. After he dictated his own interpretation of residency and the PMO was seen meddling in the senate audit, then he tried to say the senate was an independent body and he knew nothing about what was going on. None of it made sense and he looked like a liar. Which is probably what happened.
