  1. I don't know if I would call it "shrewed"... It may turn out to be a bungled attempt at 'snatch[ing] a majority" at best...
  2. Correct, Hitler is an example... not that I'm saying Harper is like Hitler...
  3. Another flub for the Conservatives and just four days into the campaign...
  4. I don't know, Argus, somebody could come along and possibly get the wrong impression from your post; whatever the case, this girl down loaded hundreds of images and a score of videos of child pornography, images of very young children engaged in sex acts, because she is, and I quote: "sexually attracted to young girls". That's not good nor normal, and you can't tell me that this person is a risk for becoming--if not already--a predator. And we also know that the LBGT community has elements in it that condone and advocate pederasty through "literature" like The Vagina Monologues. Please don't make excuses for her.
  5. Just like Harper visiting the location of the Creba murder during the 2006 election...? Politicians do this, so relax... Anyway, this issue has virtually sunk into obscurity now that the vast majority of us have not succumbed to the illness... life goes on...
  6. Yes, the Harper is a dictator thing is nothing new, and sadly not all that inaccurate. Considering how bad he's been in a minority situation, one can only wonder what he would be like with a majority.
  7. Interestingly, though, the Conservatives are not doing all that well in the Maritimes nowadays, so I'm guessing that the Conservative's western-style conservativism has worn thin. I'm wondering how many Progressive Canadian candidates will be running in the Maritimes, if any...?
  8. They were always a regional party. They were just trying to get more votes and seats and therefore more power. The Conservatives are still largely a regional party, hence Harper's extolling the fact that the West was "finally in" when they won in 2006.
  9. I don't recall ever hearing about a girl being charged or convicted for possessing child pornography. Given what we know about male predators, how is it that they think that a female would be much different and can be rehabilitated. Does she not pose more of a danger considering that society does not view teen girls as being potential sex predators (although I'm sure some would suggest otherwise)? http://news.guelphmercury.com/News/article/378451
  10. Why are you still here?
  11. The fact of the matter is that these people were willing to take the risk not knowing for certain what the consequences were going to be. And the expiriments have just begun. Just because the majority of scientists thought that this thing would cause no problems doesn't justify taking the risk. But now that we're still here, it's the turn of the conspiracy theorists to have a go at it; from what I saw on the news there was a bit of a delay there before the results of the test appeared. I'm sure there will be a few people who will claim that this contrived; they did spend about $9 billion on this thing, did they not? For it not to work would be extremely embarrassing to the scientific community.
  12. Oh, please; yes, let's make excuses for her. Why? Because she's a woman?
  13. Are you serious? There's nothing slanderous about calling a criminal a "crook".
  14. He would be out of his element outside of Newfoundland
  15. It's too bad this poll thingy didn't work. The discussion was to be about which party--if any--would break out of the fringe status with the possible demise of the Liberals and NDP and the mainstreaming of the Greens. Where will those seeking an alternative go? CAP? Libertarians?
  16. Hey, are you endorsing May?
  17. Oh, now layton wants to fund a "green collar" workforce... why would that be?!?!?!?!?
  18. Was she "unequivocally endorsing" the Conservatives during her speech about Mulroney being the greenest PM?
  19. That's not rooting. Complimenting someone for something is not an endorsement or "rooting". You'll have to do better.
  20. Concern for the environment and the support for the Green Party is considerable; they have had a significant impact on the other parties to the extent that they all are borrowing from the Green's platform. So that would suggest otherwise.
  21. Honestly, if this happened to another party, many people here would be howling with delight and derision. Just goes to show you... Well, whether she ran or not, she certainly was crooked and was elected as the riding's candidate...
  22. It's too bad that this is being exploited & perceived as a gender issue. Each player in this farce has political motivations. That said, it's good to learn that this may cost Layton a number of women voters.
  23. Another embarassment for the Conservatives as one of their candidates had to quit because she had several criminal convictions. Interestingly, she appears to be a feminist, too. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/nova-scotia/story...ax.html?ref=rss
  24. How did "our world in the global economy" become "the price of oil"?????? What I'm saying is that certain elements in our political spectrum have succeeded in making us so dependent on the global economy that when it backfires it is going to hurt bigtime. For one thing, these last forty years or so could have been spent implementing alternative energy initiatives, but the Liberals and Cons just had to bend over to Big Business and maintained the status quo...
  25. Personally, I don't care what happens; I just love how science likes to push the envelope based on theory. Sure, the A-Bomb didn't end up blowing up the planet as some suspected, but not really knowing what would happen just wouldn't deter them from testing it anyway and bringing us such joys as nuclear weapons and the threat of nuclear war. Who knows what joys this experiment will foist upon mankind if it doesn't end up being the end of us.
