I'm guessing it took you a while to decide whether or not you should include the Liberals and NDP...

He should read this article: http://www.socialimage.net/2006_09_20_the_hill.html

Invoking Obama is a lame, too.

Federal Political Party Test
Ontario Loyalist replied to Smallc's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Interesting. The party platform that appeals to me the most in fact is the Progressive Canadian party, but I'm doubting they'll run a candidate and there really doesn't seem to be much more there than a website. The next logical choice would be the Greens, but after watching Dion this morning I'd seriously consider the Liberals; and that is the result that this little game gave me. My riding is Conservative, it wasn't won by all that much last time so if itlooks like a tight race between the Liberals and Conservatives then I would vote Liberal. -
Should have figured. Whatever the case, as you say this probably should have been rectified by now.

Don't you remember "Beep! Beep!"??? If this isn't nonstop, I don't know what is... Every time I flip through the channels there always seems to be one.
-
Very curious to find a website in which much of the text is in Latin; the Greens are going to have to do something about these kinds of excentricities if they're ever going to be taken seriously: http://dickhibma.com/index.asp#

I'm sorry I missed that. Hope I catch it later if it's replayed. It won't work. The NDP has a legacy of socialism that doesn't sit with most. The Greens are a party that draws from both the right and left, is more centrist. The only people who consider it a "leftist" party are hard right ideologes.
-
Heart, not heartbeat. That's just the way it is, though. No need to get worked up about it. I'm a leftist? No wonder Harper gets elected if people like you can't tell the difference betwen left and right... I never said it was "more Canadian".
-
Well, traditionally that would be the NDP, and to be quite frank I think the Greens are going to be the end of the NDP. Layton thinks that this is between him and Harper? Now, that's funny.

Too bad Saskatchewan is in the middle of nowhere. The heart of Canada will always be Ontario and Quebec because of it's proximity to the US northeast.

4) Harper's wardrobe... It would be nice if they could stick to the issues, but let's be serious here: it ain't gonna happen...

$2,000 to commemorate a UFO sighting
Ontario Loyalist replied to Ontario Loyalist's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
But for the average Canadian who doesn't pay much attention and may have missed that or won't come to that conclusion themselves, it makes no difference; all they see is billions of dollars having been spent in the weeks leading up to Harper's illegal election... -
Why do we have a Governor General?
Ontario Loyalist replied to PoliticalCitizen's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You should really consider learning the difference between past tense and present tense. Whatever the case, I personally find it somewhat dismaying that members of the military would not have unflinching devotion to our Head-of-State. I never stated this. Again you fabricate. I said that both the far right and left wings have to create their own "monarchs" in the form of dictators that do not have the same checks that have developed in our system. Certainly a republic could become a dictatorship; didn't Plato state that republics tend to degenerate into tyrannies? And are we not seeing that process in the United States? Well, this is the work of the elected government, isn't it? If the monarchy had more power, this would not be the case. -
Sierra Club ranks Greens first

Ummm... I believe that Osama planned the attacks because of the Gulf War, which was about oil, and the US's general policy of trying to maintain influence over the politics of the region. They need to do this because oil is becoming increasingly scarce. -
Yes, I think Harper considers himself to be a god.
-
I've seen about 40 to 50 of his ads. Claiming that Canada has to "stand for something" is a little absurd. Canada had no identity before Harper and the Cons came along?

Amidst the massive amounts of pre-election payments being doled out are curious grants such as $2,000 given to commemorate a UFO sighting: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...y/National/home Ridiculous and hypocritical...

Why do we have a Governor General?
Ontario Loyalist replied to PoliticalCitizen's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Our system is fine except for the lack of PR, but the only real problem is Harper and his gang trying to make it look like Parlaiment is "dysfunctional" through their own disruptive tactics. Canadians are being bamboozled big time, and when the time finally comes and the histories of this administration is written boy is it ever going to make for interesting reading. If Newman is still around, I'm sure he'll entitle his book: Another Renegade in Power. -

Well, Steve's becoming quite the dictator, that's for sure. Not surprisingly you don't know your history... France is trying to meddle in Africa again. Geez, I was watching the Irish news show on PBS the other day and Ireland is losing jobs in a manner you'd think it was Ontario, extensive flooding, poor crops because of excessive rain due to global warming (according to the minister of environment). Do you even know what's going on in Ireland, or did you just randomly pick it? -

France is failing in its own right. Whether it's the riots or its attempts to restore its Empire, France is hardly a beacon of democracy. Ireland? If that's the best you can do... -
Why do we have a Governor General?
Ontario Loyalist replied to PoliticalCitizen's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Both the far right and left have produced their own "monarchs"--dictators--and societies where people's rights are fundamentally negated. Our monarchy has eveloved over the centuries into a stable and moderate institution, where as communism and fascism were rapidly forced upon people via revolution, and with devestating consequence. Changing Canada's form of government is much more than simply taking her picture of our money. It means undoing everything that we've done up until now to create this great country; it means disrespecting the legacy of those soldiers who fought and sacrificed in two World Wars. -
Do you have sons? Do they repeatedly get dumped or divorced because feminist inspired women like you? Most relationships fail because women are disconent with the financial situation, or the guy isn't paying enough attention to her. You'd think that now that women know what it is like in the work world that they'd understand that a man has obligations when he is employed, that their employer expects them to work a certain amount of hours, that it's not really his fault if a job keeps him from his family. Maybe if women became more understanding and supportive again, there wouldn't be so many issue; but feminism has taught them how to be selfish and antagonistic, and as a result the family has become the the battleground in feminism's war against men.

Why do we have a Governor General?

So when did the concept of a Republic come about? It has a long and sordid history, too, and in many ways one can argue that it is "outdated". Do we really want to be like the United States, Weimar Germany, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Georgia to name but a few...? -

That's exactly right. Her role necessitates that she advise Harper to work with the mandate that Canadian voters gave him in 2006 and to respect his own fixed date election law.
