  1. Honestly, with screwballs like you supporting monarchism in this country, we have little hope...
  2. This kind of nonsense just doesn't help...
  3. No, I think the whole arctic thing in general was taken from Diefenbaker, who also tried to use it to define his reign. Dief also used to whine about the media, just like Harper. The true degree of emulation will only be known once the books start to be written...
  4. Hmmm... a Green? Now what riding would this be? Guelph? A couple days before the election I may do a riding by riding prediction of at least southwestern Ontario...
  5. The parties didn't really merge; the PCs were absorbed by the CA which took on the outward appaearance of the old Tories in an effort to shed its image of being a radical western republican-style party. Whatever the case with the Progressive Canadians, they carry on the legacy of the Tory party...
  6. The Reform party received much support from the rest of Canada, as well. The part may have elevolved a little, but it still is essentially the Reform/CA. Of course some PCs joined for political expediency, simply wanting a conservative government regardless of the party's policies.
  7. Oh, well, I suppose you don't care for the competition, do you...?
  8. Oh, you never know. I can see Ontarians going Green; both discontented voters from the Cons and Liberals need to go somewhere... it remains to be seen if they will bounce back, but I think that the Liberals may actaully be beyond hope.
  9. No, the Conservatives are just the Reform party in blue. You confuse the Conservatives with the Progressive Conservatives, which still exist under the name Progressive Canadian Party.
  10. Yeah, strategic voting. Wouldn't it be great if we had a PR system and every vote counts?
  11. I'm not apologizing. It's good to see, though, that you can admit that I'm right.
  12. Sorry, but I believe that the Greens had an MP when the election was called.
  13. Well, the Conservatives were a "very" right wing party (still are in some respects) yet they seem to have made the transition into "the middle". It's quite possible that the NDP could achieve that as well...
  14. Yes, I've noticed that about your posts...
  15. Well, the Liberals may just implode in this election, and be replaced by either the NDP or the Greens; once either or both of these parties enter the mainstream it is inevitable that they will engender the same kind of issues with voters that the Liberals do and have; what party will become the focus of discontented voters seeking a change...?

  17. Each party with an MP should be represented in the poll.
  18. So what? There's no rule about it having to be named after the next PM. No, the next one will be named after a PM from the party in power, and any of these parties still exist by that point... just that the Louis St. Laurent was... perhaps the CCGS Elizabeth May ?
  19. Only when he loses, I guess...
  20. Conservatives who think the NDP or Liberals are communists are quite common it would seem. For what reason should the CPC and Republican party NOT be compared. They're on the same page in many respects. Harper makes himself out to be a Canadian patriot, but he would happily turn this country into a republic. Rememeber, he's only in power to serve the West, and the current political structure is perceived to be more beneficial for central Canada. This in part his is much suspected "hidden agenda"...
  21. In some ways there is a similarity with Diefenbaker. I don't think it's a coincidence that Harper just happened to be in the arctic shortly before this election and that the new boat will be named after Dief.
  22. Oh, my quip was not in reference to the order, rather their inclusion... Frankly I couldn't care less if you don't include the Greens because your poll is irrelevant...
  23. I suppose this has been mentioned elsewhere, but the Liberals still don't have candidates in thirty or so ridings in Quebec from what I understand...
  24. I'll never take them seriously regardless...
