Why do we always wait to the last minute.
Alta4ever replied to Machjo's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I just wonder where you come up with some of this, not to be disrespectful, but at time I really have to scratch my head because it defies common wisdom. Groups with direction will find themselves without and will act without thinking of the consequences as with what happened on the Russian Bloody Sunday. Also happened to start the revolutionary war and more recently Kent State Massacre. Governments can get swept up in the mentality too, too see it all you have to do is look at the UN Human rights council, many just follow the herd there, they don't speak up or simply stay away. Businesses will do the same, if company A has good idea company b, c, d, e and so on follow along. An individual may not be happy to follow the group or may be would not follow a group if they weren't in it at that moment. The minute you pull an individual out of the group and question them why, or give them a little education about what they are doing, they can change in a instant. Even politics is herd mentality, the creation of "brands" and so forth. Do you really think any political group wants to research and decide for yourself on an issue no they want you to just buy in to the brand without question, through their "spin on the issues" or what was known as propaganda. Stock market booms and busts also highlight this, which co-incidentally is what this threat is about. http://www.adsavvy.org/understanding-the-h...herd-mentality/ http://dividendmoney.com/herd-mentalit/ -

Yep they get told they are un Canadian and bullied by friends of Medicare to no end for even suggesting minor change as Klein was. Just like a province can't exercise its constitutional right (exceot if your quebec or Ontario) lest you be labelled un-canadian. As were the supporters of the Alberta Agenda. Its great we have all these rights on paper, but get demonized for trying to use your "Canadian Rights". -

I have yet to see a mob look beyond that moment, no amount of rules gets them to look ahead, single one person out of the mob and low and behold they then think beyond the moment. -

Have you not seen mob mentality? -

There is only one answer, a person is smart, people are stupid. Once the collective "forgets" so to politicians and business people, because their immediate concern is always what society is thinking now, not yesterday, and not to tomorrow, just what is happening now. -
What about those who just do care, you would be surprised how many fall under that category, and forcing them to vote won't make them research or find out, some will close their eyes and pick for other it might just be who looks the nicest, maybe who seems the least threatening in stature or appearance. I would rather have 10% of the engaged voting, rather then 100% of the twits who really are only voting because they have to and not making informed decisions.

You just said an oxy moron a political party with any sense.... -
Voting should never be manditory, I don't want to ever face charges because I didn't like any of the options and stay home or spoiled my ballot.

What ever happened to having 3 months savings in the bank to get you through a rough patch? And don't tell me you can afford to save it, everyone called it call making a sacrifice for a short amount of time, everyone is capable of it, and it would get you past the 6 week wait.

They don't I have been hearing rumblings from very moderate people, who are in high hopes of the WAP, as am I, as right wing as I appear here I really hope they stay to the moderate centre right because it will ensure an election victory and the removal of the PC's from this province. -

Its definately no the same here, If i needed treatment in Manitoba Alberta health is going to only pay so much, anything above it is out of pocket, with that said everytime I do travel to Winnipeg or anywhere out of province I buy travel insurance not that I mind it is very in-expensive. Our healthcare is in deep decline in this province and needs fixing, too bad Kliens third way was shot down it probably would have worked. -

Hopefully ed will be thrown to the curb, we have an upstart center right party the Wildrose, many Albertans have great hopes, but also I hope their is a movement a foot to kick ed to the curb at his next leadership review in November. There are no conservatives left in the party their is no principals left in the party, just power hungry tyrants, that despise dissent. -

I want my choice in which hospital I visit, who I get service from, we also do not have this choice, they will treat you if it is an emergency, but if it isn't they want you to go to your local doctor or hospital, no matter how poor the service. -

I trust my ablity to pick the right one, you tpouched on something important you must research claims history, you must know what is in your policy, you must know what you are buying. But ultimately you have your choice. -

No it is up to you, you decide what policy you will buy, you decide on the coverages in the policy, the only difference is you have to take responsiblity for your choice later on if you just signed on the dotted line and said insurance is insurance. -

You can choose your coverage, you do not have a politician making the choice for you. If you don't like what one company offers, go to another. -

Stelmachs super board was a flop, they are talking about closing hospitals and even one MLA was booted out of caucus for speaking on his constituents behalf over an anouced Long term care facility that was cancelled, because Ron Leipert decided it really wasn't needed. -

I have no such love or faith for a system where the policitians can make the choice about what is and isn't going to be covered by the provincial health care plan. -

It is being rationed more and more every year though, I don't know about Manitoba, but it is happening in Alberta. Stelmach has to go. Hopeffully the WAP can get their party together, they have become the great hope of the province. -

I would much rather have the opportunity, and if it does happen to me, I have made sure to put the proper insurance in place to exercise that opportunity.
