There is a big difference between a church service and a funeral, a funeral brings people of all faith to morn the loss of a loved/respected individual, a church service brings the regular congregation.

The few times I have taken communion at the local Baptist church, no body does it right away, some sit and pray for a few minutes, others wait until everyone has received the host before taling the communion others its mear seconds.
