Will lower crime rate hurt Conservatives?
Alta4ever replied to capricorn's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Could the crime rate be lower because people are reporting fewing crimes because of a loss of confidence in the system? Really what do call the global warming fearmongering that the socialists are pushing? -

Canada's Corporate Welfare Bums
Alta4ever replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Environmentally Damaged? Have you been to Alberta? You have no idea what is happening here, just what you think you know from media snippits from journalists who don't reside here(and don't have a clue), to politicans who could care less about advancing the real truth instead of their agendas. Oh right to you a gas vital to life on this planet is considered pollution. You have not a clue about this province you have no idea what enviornemntal damage is being done or where, all you know is the picture of stacks taken in the winter venting water vapour and being told its pollution. Maybe you should stop with the arrogance get off your high horse and come to Alberta for a couple of years to find out what is really happening here. Alberta's getting no free ride, we are working hard and toiling, when we were almost cippled by the rest of Canada thorught the NEP, we got nothing in return, we had to tighten our belts, we had to work harder, we had to builkt our industries back up. We never would have profited from the boom had it not been for the work done to build the industry so we could extract the resources. The rest of Canada did not help us with wealth transfers like other provinces in confederation get. Even while we did all of this Ottawa still took from us to give to eastern provinces. We have built up our industry, but yet we haven't problems with acid rain, or smog, or over harvesting of resources, such as other provinces in confederation. We have managed just fine, our province is good shape and despite having to carry the rest of Canada along. Even in a slumping manufacturing economy, and an American economic recession, Canada's economy has been able to roll along as strong as ever thanks to the economic engine Alberta has become in the last 6 years. We feed the world, heat homes and provide the oil/fuel so you can get to work. We have made sure not to do considerable damage to delicate eco systems unlike other provinces hydo dams which has destoryed habitat vital to certain species of fish. Provinces that have destoried great lakes through pollution, or polluted ground water with to high a concentration of livestock intesive farms. I suggest you fix the problems in your back yard before you mess with mine. -

Dion's "Liberal Green Shift" carbon tax Plan
Alta4ever replied to madmax's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I suggest you talk to a plumber and Hvac specialist to find out how much these things really cost retrofitted into your home. If you want high efficiency you pay for it. A Bosh washer dry set around 2500-3000, a high efficiency fridge is around $2000, not to mention the stove another $$800-$2000, a freezer is $500-$1000. You must not be buyng the top of the line high efficiency appicances, just the mid range. I just went through all of this after doing a lot of shopping around and research. Most middle class families won't beable to afford this or service the debt for it, they will be stuck paying more taxes getting the Green Shaft from Dion. -
Dion's "Liberal Green Shift" carbon tax Plan
Alta4ever replied to madmax's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Not everyone can afford to buy a new furnace (roughly $4,500 installed), and new high efficiency hotwater box ($3500-$4000 installed), and high efficiency appliances washer dryer fridge, and stove ($5000 to $10,000). How many people can afford all of this? Not to mention these will all be needed to be replaced before the you've saved enough in energy savings to pay for them. YOu might be lucky if the savings pay for the debt servicing that would be required. Welcome to the Green Shaft Tax grab. You are living in a dream world, can you afford $20,000 tomorrow to save a few pennies in taxes? You can bet the the liberals know that most middle class Canadians won't be able to afford to upgrade and will be stuck paying the tax. A tax that will increase as energy prices do. This will do nothing but drive up inflation and push more lower middle class families into poverty. This tax was not devised to save the planet it was devised to provide a slush fund for a Dion/liberal government. Talk about your smoke and mirrors. -
Dion's "Liberal Green Shift" carbon tax Plan

Oh look here is the same comment again from another liberal. Nothing but another tax for wealth transfer programs. Hopefully may will stop drinking the liberal kool-aid and see this cash grab for what it is. -
Dion's "Liberal Green Shift" carbon tax Plan
Alta4ever replied to madmax's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Straight from the liberal party, this won't be "revenue neutral", its nothing more than a wealth transfer program. Dion and his NEP 2 will destroy this country, and this is proof that it really never was about climate change, its just been all about keeping Albertans at the oars of the slave ship Canada. -

They may not there are few that exist out here, but the vast majority is against it.
-
It us not the Mp's that are wasteful it is the huge civil service that is costing more. Not to mention that we have areas of the country that have too many MP's because of mimium riding numbers for certain provinces, such great for thought from Canada's worst Prime Minister, PT. But thats a different story anyway, this argument is about work ethic.

Fine that must be why we know everything you spew is crap. Dobbin I know the farming community here a lot better then someone who gauges their support for a program based on the few protesters they see out their window in Downtown Winnipeg. Unlike you I actually network with people outside of my area, my job (which is in insurance services now) takes me across this county on a regular basis. If fact I was in Winnipeg for the Brokers Convention in May. You may not beleive a think I write, but I guess that is just you not wanting to face what the political reality of this subject is here in Alberta.

A substantial penalty? It would just mean a little negociation and restructure of the CWB.

Liberals in deep shift over green slogan
Alta4ever replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Tried for something that hasn't been proven, if it turns out all of you are wrong, maybe you should be charged for the ensuing economic disaster, the goricals are bringing on. -
Yes you can, even if dobbin is right about NAFTA and WTO, they are just wrinkles that will have to be ironed out. If it is the will of the people it will be done.

Isn't that number rather close to the pleblisite?
-
I don't believe I know. You just have no appreacation for what is being done for you.
-
Given the debate I doubt many care.
-
Really you think so huh? I managed a farm book of business when I worked for the local insurance agency of more then 1000 farms. I live in a major farming community, both my in laws and my whole family farm. So you were saying?
-
It obvious you have never followed an Mp around or even hard a look at their schedual either. They are accountible to the voters and can be turfed in an election. Define monitary constraint? Everyone has a monitary constraint, I think you are a little jealous of the salary, my advice is that maybe you should run for office in the next election.

Funny that wasn't the case when rapeseeds were taken out of the board, it didn't take a parlimentary vote. I haven't met a farmer who questioned the methodology of the poll here, again it just sounds like sour grapes.
-
It wasn't telling and was manipulated? You can't be serious. Farmers were asked to select one of the following three options on the ballot. 1). The Canadian Wheat Board should retain the single desk for the marketing of barley into domestic human consumption and export markets. 2). I would like the option to market my barley to the Canadian Wheat Board or any other domestic or foreign buyer. 3). The Canadian Wheat Board should not have a role in the marketing of barley. They seem pretty straight forward and simple, or do you not understand simple language. I have no doctorate but I understand what is being asked. Sounds like you have some sour grapes, and are grasping at straws. The whole i didn't understand the question argument is very childish, and always the last resort of vocal interests who think they know better then majority. The big difference between what I support and what you support is that my poltical leanings are a bottom up approach were we the people set the policy, not a top down approach. The grassroots has asked for this and the people will prevail. Those farmers who were made criminals by the CWB in the 90's will win the battle, as they represent the majority, and bet if these three same questions were posed again the vote for option 2 would go down and the vote for option 3 would go up. On a side note I very rarely have been asked such simple questions the ones I was asked in a provincial poll about the PC governments handling of the pine beetle was much more confusing. Each question was a paragraph long, and then was graded on a scale of one to ten. Without knowing what the questions are that are asked in the poll you quote are, we have no idea what was really being asked of the sampling and who was being sampled. The governments plebiscite was only to barley producers, we know what the questions were and the percentage of response to each questions. There were no unknown variables, unlike the poll you quote. I was last at the CWB in May, I saw no one there but workers, and I bet they have a vested intrest in protecting their jobs. As for plenty of farmers attending, how many did you actually talk to? Have you been to a grain elevator and talked to the farmers there? How about a farming community coffee shop have you talked to the farmers there? How can you base your stance on this topic, by looking out a window at protestors in the street, or pictures in paper, heck how can you even undertand the issue if you aren't even talking to the people it effects. If you go by protests there was a very well attended one in Alberta against the wheat board when a few brave producers took a load of grain over the boarder. Why does that not change your opinion if all it takes to form one is watching well attended protests?

They do work when they aren't in Ottawa. As I said if you actually new your MP and followed them around for a week you would find how wrong you really are. Most of our MPs work very hard for their constituencies and only take two to three weeks a year for vacation. They spend very little time with their families because they are trying to serve us and better our country. All you seem to be able to do is criticize everything that someone else does for you. While you and I do not have the same political leanings we can both show a little respect for the hard work, stress and public scrutiny, that they go through. While there are a few exceptions to the rule, most work very hard and if you compare what they make next to what a CEO gets for running a corporation (not nearly as important as our government) you would find their pay scale sorely lacking. If they didn’t do the job would you, I doubt you’ve ever run for public office. But then again like too many others on this board you do not listen or consider, you just run with you preconceived notions, and ignore all else.
-
Just because Mp's aren't sitting in the house it doesn't mean they aren't working. They do have constituency offices to be in, events to attend, consituents to meet with, reseach and drafting of private members bills. If you actually knew an MP you would find out just how hard they do work when they aren't sitting in the house.

In your poll how many of the farmers asked were still active grain and barley producers? Did they take an acuate sample? Since when does a monopoly need to advocate itself if there is no choice. Why is grain shipped straight to the port charged for freight to winnipeg then to the port? Why do grain farmers in eastern canada not have to be brought under state control? We live in a free market economy capitalist economy, the government has no business taking away the farmers property for less then market value. There was nothing in the budget about it was there? Barley was voted out majority rule, enough said. more then two thirds wanted barly out completely or marketing choice. It was a very simiple question and choice. Farmers deserve market choice, since they take all the risk, produced the crop they deserve to own the crop, and the last say in how to market it.
