According to the law in order to maintain a free society, special measures may be taken to create programs or employment opportunities aimed at reducing that male dominance. That isn't how I understand it. Right now the Canadian dollar is around par with the US dollar. If a widget costs $2CD then it is also $2USD. However, when the Canadian dollar was below parity our $2 widget actually only cost Americans about $1.50 USD. When our dollar rises above parity then the reverse is true - our $2 widget now costs them $2.12 each. If an Asian manufacturer sells widgets for around $1.50 US it makes a strong case for American retailers to switch to off shore suppliers. The rise in the Canadian dollar hurts Canadian exports to the US, our primary trading partner. Thus to remain competitive Canadian manufacturers have to keep their cost low when the Canadian dollar rises to parity and above.

First of all limits must be reasonable and the Court must be able to justify the limits as being necessary to the security of the public. Is a limit of preventing protesting reasonable and is it necessary to protect public security is the question that must be answered. Perhaps, but in all cases the Courts cannot just limit freedoms without being able to demonstrate that the limit is necessary. I forgot to add....that there are many occasions on appeal where the Court finds that limits are unreasonable or cannot be justified. If this guy incited a riot then perhaps, but if he was just one of many who jumped into a mob mentality then I believe the court has to go much further in proving that restricting his freedom is necessary.

It would just mean the same corruption in a different form. The Reform/Alliance/Conservatives promise a reform of the senate. Instead, the reform came in the form of Harper stacking the senate to allow more of his legislation through unscathed. It doesn't reinforce democracy.
