  1. BBM....dedicated to you. Education pays big-time, StatsCan says Stay in school and the odds are you'll get the big bucks. You will never understand Che Guevara but that's OK, as you will have lots of company (just came back from watching Redford's Motorcycle Diaries - fuck it deserves an Oscar!)
  2. My point is life can exist quite harmonously without Sunday shopping - we existed before without it, and we will continue to exist if it were abolished again. Switzerland is a good example of a very successful economy with NO SUNDAY SHOPPING. So if the Swiss are able to survive so can Canadians.
  3. Regardless, it is the dumbing down approach. There is another very significant aspect to life, that is the socialization process, which is also a very important part of the school process. Just because some "psychologist" says it is so, does not make it so. Do you remember the nutbar professor psychologist at U. of Western Ontario, I think it was, that said he was able to prove that blacks were inferior, etc.?
  4. What is the source (URL) for this quote?
  5. So Canada's only $510 billion more in debt than Alberta. Not bad. I say use every cent to pay down the debt. That will bring us to: 510 billion - 8 billion = 502 billion. Before you know it we'll owe less than $500 billion. Jeez, Canada's on a roll, here!
  6. Trust me, if it's an Abbotsford thingie, it a Bible thingie.
  7. They could do worse than pick Bill Clinton's Canadian sex toy for leader.
  8. 1901 First Nobel Prize award. 1905 Norway declares itself independent of the Swedish king. 1948 Count Folke Bernadotte was (assassinated in Jerusalem by a Jewish terrorist organization (lead by Yitzhak Shamir) when mediating between Jews and Arabs. Source
  9. Alfred Nobel's Life and Work I think it has something to do with the history between Sweden and Norway.
  10. Harper's political career as a federal leader of a contending party is over. He made a terminal error in judgement allying with the Bloc. The Bloc had a bit of boost just around election time. They don't have much of a future either.
  11. The last election was the Conservatives to lose and they did, and what did you expect with such a neanderthal leader. Why would Canadians bother to vote for another Conservative party when they already have one in the Paul Martin Liberals?
  12. Article Lib 40% (up 3) Con 25% (down 5) NDP 17% (up 1) Grn 6% (up 2) In Quebec: Lib 39% (up 5) BQ 36% (down 13) NDP 11% (up 6) Con 5% (down 4) In Ontario: Lib 42% Con 27% (down 5) NDP 21%
  13. Argus....you gotta get a life. Girls are now playing high school football with the boys - get used to it!
  14. Do you all agree with me that the most prestigious award that we honour our fellow earthlings with is the Nobel Peace Prize? I mean what else could it possibly be? How did it possibly come to be that such a progressive and social democratic society such as Sweden (you know the country that all right wingers love to trash), originated such a renowned and sought after prize? Nobel Prize Website
  15. As I suspected, and the reason this thread was started, this is far from over: Lava Oozes Out of Mount St. Helens Check out the webcam. you can see IMR on the trail on his way up to the top to see what's inside.
  16. August1991.....actually Canada and Switzerland are quite similar in a lot of ways. Both are picturesque countries with majestic mountains piercing the clouds. Both have more than one official language, both have a highly educated, well trained work force, both have good pharmaceutical industries, great skiing, and great tourism industries, and both have a tendency towards neutrality.
  17. The Silence on Sex Candidate Whatsa matta you, don'tcha know how to use google?
  18. Switzerland has one of the most successful economies in the world and they don't allow Sunday shopping, so why should Canada? All Sunday shopping will result in is more polution and more workers being abused and forced to work on their Sabbath. Perhaps if we only allowed public transportation and emergency vehicles on the public roads, and workers were compensated with shift premiums, and the legislated option not to have to work if they choose to spend the time with their families, then maybe OK we could explore it. In the meantime, until these conditions come about, let's close Sunday down to the greedy pigs, er, capitalists.
  19. This idea that the segregation of boys and girls, creating a false world, will somehow overall improve their situation is another one of the many, in a long line of many failed experiments. Haven't we learned anything? It reminds a bit of how we treat alcohol. We would be much better to let children gradually have a bit of wine with their meals as they are going up, rather than this prohibition until, what is it now, 18 years of age, when all hell breaks loose, at least for those that held off until then. Of course most kids have already breen drinking by the time it is legal for them to do so.
  20. Paul Wells rarely fails to rise to the occasion. A journalist with a brain - how refreshing!
  21. B.C. schools remove 'distractions' from boys' classes I always knew you could count on the Bible Belt when the chips are down. Let's all put our collective heads in the sand and hopefully the problem will go away. What a bunch of morons. Let's not teach sex education either, let's not teach our kids about birth control, condoms, preventing STDs, etc. Please spare us from this enlightened society.
  22. Federal parties in talks to avoid confidence vote What tripe! The government, and the government alone decides what is a confidence vote, and what is not. And oh yah, why don't the authors of these articles or the editors have the cahones to put their names down on the byline, eh? What cha fraid of boys & girls?
  23. Martin aide tied to cash PM Martin didn't know anything about the sponsorship money. Right!
  24. The trouble with you guys is you don't change with the times. Now that it's obvious Americans are too stupid to vote for Nader, Kerry actually does have a chance after all. The folks that live in the past, and don't change their ways, die of remorse.
  25. After seeing you elect both Reagan and Bush Jr., I think it is difficult for Canadians to underestimate Americans' political acumen.
