  1. Loonie cracks 84 cents OK I'm revising my forecast for Xmas, 2004 - It was 85 cents but now it is 90 cents. This is absolutely great news for ordinary Canadians.
  2. I would equate the US health care system with the US dolla. An unmitigated disaster these days. No one in their right mind would want a US health care approach unless they get profits from privatization of health care. The people the very right wing Fraser Instute shills for.
  3. Even if that were true, and I have my reservations, what is preventing those people from retraining themselves and getting a job in another industry? Or are they helpless?
  4. Sounds like some people don't want Canadian workers to be productive. So some industries or occupations are faced with a challenge. It is not the time to start whining abouit it, but to roll up your sleeves and work towards solving the problem. My goodness what a loser mentality some people have.
  5. And whose fault is that. Obviously exit polls were used to manipulate and mislead because of the media's news reporting methods. Exit polls have their healthy uses, just not at election time.
  6. Flight to Quality Paul Wells often stands out from the our pack of sheep, er mainstream media, with his well thought out independent intelligent viewpoint. The US dolla has been sick for some time, and now it seems to be going into a coma.
  7. Ordinary Canadians who save for a whole year and then go on their miserly Canadian vacations, occasionally to foreign lands, are delighted about the appreciation in the value of the Canadian dolla. Canadian consumers are happy as well. Just ask someone who has to buy groceries or a TV, etc. Let's focus on helping Joe Average instead of these special interest groups, eh! BTW you don't have to worry about the rich in Canada, as with our tax laws, they are ensured to remain rich.
  8. Sounds good to me! Canadian Dollar Gains Most Versus Dollar: Currency Scorecard Our Canadian dolla is really rockin' & rollin'. Why Canada? I think it has a lot to do with our commodities, our resources oil & gas, gold, nickel, copper, iron, etc., which are in demand. Not that complicated - just the ole law of supply & demand.
  9. Call to secede sounded Looks like California has had enough and some people are beginning a successionist drive - I was wondering how long it was going to take for something along these lines to start happenin'. Progressive US folks are now getting a feelin' of what it was like to be a confederate, eh!
  10. We don't have to abandon our beliefs just because a few million extra God-fearing gay-haters voted for Bush My concern about this is that PM Martin is one of these folks who is prepared to lead us down the garden path. Scary stuff indeed.
  11. Finally! The moment of truth! Is gold going to $500?
  12. Canadian Dollar Surges to 84 U.S. Cents After Dodge Comments Lookin' good Canada! I forecast an 85 cent dolla by Christmas - it sure looks like I am going to have to raise my forecast upwards shortly.
  13. Dollar expected to fall amid China's rumoured selling Most favourable news and the US Dollar continues to fall - a nine year low. And has anyone been watching the price of gold recently - it is at a 16 year high. If China is indeed getting out of holding US dollars what is the significance for Canada? It seems like eveyone wants to shun the US like they have some contagious disease. Perhaps Canada needs to seriously diversify and look at cancelling our trade agreements with the US as well.
  14. Our national survey completed Monday November 1, 2004 shows the Liberals with a 15 point lead over the Conservatives: Liberals 41%, Conservatives 26%, NDP 17%, BQ 11%, Green 6%. An analysis of the regional breakdown indicates that the Bloc has dropped eight points in Quebec with the NDP picking up four points, the Liberals three points and the Conservatives one point. Liberals support is up in Ontario at the expense of the NDP. Martin leads Harper as best PM by a margin of 2 to 1 and 44% of Canadians would describe Liberal government performance as average. Tonight on PrimeTime Politics at 8 PM EST, viewers get the detailed review of the poll. This is also available on the SES website (www.sesresearch.com). Polling October 26 to November 1 (Random Telephone Survey of 1,000 Canadians, MoE ± 3.1%, 19 times out of 20). Percentages may not add up to 100 due to rounding. 15. Income taxes, if we closed the loopholes for the rich, is the most effective and fair form of taxation, because it is progressive. What has happened in BC is obscene as the BC Campbell Liberals have reduced the government intake from income taxes and raised the revenue from sales taxes and user fees. What it means is that the pooor get poorer, and the rich get richer. Is that really the way we want to go in Canada with more than one million children living below the poverty line. don't we all have a collective responsibility to help these kids. I believe that this is a fundamental Canadian value so we need to get on with it. Reducing user fees and sales taxes, and increasing income taxes are the solutions to child poverty, and many other economic problems in our society. 99/602
  16. Why Bush victory could hurt Harper I do not always agree with Herbert's comments, but in this article she is dead on. Terrorism is not an issue in Canada the way it is in the United States. Harper's absurd attacks on Canada over the Iraq war and military issues is a good case in point.
  17. Most Canadians Oppose Missle Defence PM Martin better remeber he has a minority government and start listening to the wishes of the Canadian people. It seems that there is more support for Parrish than the media, with their attempt to discredit her, lets on. Keep it up Carolyn, you have a lot more backing than you perhaps realize.
  18. I this this is what is disturbing people more than anything else in the aftermath of Bush's re-election: The Loonies Have Taken Control
  19. Did anyone else watch Question Period today? Two people stood up for Canada Not Harper who went to the US and wrote articles in the Wall Street Journal attacking Canada. Not Martin who blustered publically about Parrish's comments knowing full well she has him by the short and curlies - Parrish is untouchable. Parrish stood up for Canada today thank goodness. And Jack Layton stood up for Canada today attacking Canada's involvement in this insane US Star Wars plan. I would hazzard a guess that these two people, Parrish and Layton, represent a good percentage of the Canadian population. Outspoken Parrish doesn't seek approval
  20. August1991....lay off the booze and we'll be fine!
  21. You are making assumptions that it stops with Basi. At vthis point, like Adscam, we are not quite sure how high up this goes, and what the drug money was used for.
  22. August1991 has been into the sauce again. You can always tell.
  23. Ohio, and only Ohio is where the action was. And I suggest to you that slowly but surely we will discover the dirty tricks the GOP used to once again steal an election. US democracy my ass!
  24. August1991.....fuck you and your right wing personal attacks. Why don't you lay off the sauce, eh!
  25. I think it might be the other way around refering to the previous post. But i have a question for you health care opinion experts: Is this BC Campbell's way of privatizing health care: Nurse shortage forces St. Paul's to use private clinics
