Williams Concerned over Meeting

Hasn't this got messy because initially when PM Martin made his promises during the election campaign, the price of oil and gas was much less than it is now, so there is a lot more money at stake. Regardless, PM Martin & Finance Minister Goodale should stick to their end of the bargain and keep their election promises. It is time to allow the Atlantic region to get on its feet just as Alberta was allowed to do so as well. First we had Lyin' Brian. Now are we goin' to have Lyin' Paul? -

David Basi on marijuana production charges. Humm.......sure isn't the kind of news BC Premier Campbell, facing an election, nor minority government leader PM Martin, also possibly facing an election, wanted to hear.

New Woes Surface in Use of Estimates Will you rely on exit polls in the future? I heard Allan Gregg on the CBC election night or the nite after stating that people did not know how to use them properly, and that they were being misused by the media. What do you think? I think for me I am going to very leary of them in the future, as I am beginning to acquire a healthy distrust of polls. I think polls are used more to manipulate than to inform.

No Flu Vaccine For Canadians While Campbell
maplesyrup replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
HEALTH There is going to be political fallot over this. -
When BC Premier Gordon Campbell started selling flu vaccine to US citizens he said that Canadians in BC would not be deprived. I just heard on the radio tonite , 1130 AM all news station, that a Doctor Ableman in Coquitlam is not able to get flu vaccine for his patients. Has Campbell lied to us? What is going on?

Surrey Panorama Ridge BC By-Election
maplesyrup replied to maplesyrup's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Well let's take tuition fees. Many many students are now coming out of university with massive debt - it is very unfair. Why do we need to charge tuition fees, as we have a tax system for that sort of thing. And you have seen the game being played by the Liberals: Reduce income tax which is progressive and massively increase sales taxes which are very regressive. A long time ago if you wanted to become an accountant you were trained by accounting firms and went to school at night. Now the accounting firms have offloaded all their training costs to either the governemnt or the students. We need to put the breaks on tuition fees, gradually begin to phase them out, and put the costs of training these students back where they belong with the businesses involved. There has been a major shifting of costs from businesses to the government and to individuals. It has got to stop. -

The NDP has a problem......................
maplesyrup replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Cartman....I agree, and that is why Jagrup's election in Surrey Panorama Ridge is so significant for the New Democrats in BC. But your right about the federal scene, the NDP cannot just focus on missle defence, even though they will score major points on this issue. Layton needs to run some candidates from the business community in winnible ridings as well. ---------------------------------- Sometimes fundamentalism gets confused with religion, and they are not necessarily the same. Fundamentalists are crazy as they will not reason. Blaikie is a United Church minister, and Tim Stevenson, probable NDP candidate in Van Burrard in the May 2005 election in BC is a United Church minister as well. -

How many Canadians think US election is rigged?
maplesyrup replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The US media apart from PBS, NPR, and a few publications like the NYT, are in bed with the US government and administration, and have been for a long long time. One of the major reasons that the US is in the mess it is in as dissent is no tolerated, no longer mainstream, if it every was. A very sick society that is on the way out. I wonder what Canada can do to protect itself from the growing emergence of China. -

New Democrats will form the government because they will improve the lives of all British Columbians by creating new opportunities for ordinary people, which include; Ensure education is affordable and accessible to help young people Expand long-term and home care to help families with elderly parents. Halt the privatization of ICBC< BC Hydro, and other public assts Ensure BC businesses are allowed to bid on all public projects - including the construction of our ferries Re-establish the link between jobs and accesss to resources to help people in rural communities to mention a few things off the yop of my head -
Gee.....you left out ordinary Canadians who may want to occasionally travel to the US for a couple of weeks vacation, or who may want to purchase the occasional product from the US. I weonder why! I see Tom Daschle got defeated. Good. He was the major US politician blocking our beef exports to the US. As I have said many times, there is basically no difference between Reps & Dems. Dems are slightly less stone age, but barely.

kimmy......do a poll of Canadians whether they want a higher Canadian dollar or not, and you will get the correct answer. Spare us the opinion of some special interest group that you are stomping for.

How many Canadians think US election is rigged?
maplesyrup replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I saw on Drudge yesterday that ballot boxes in Philadelphia had ballots in them before the start of voting. I can believe it, just like I can believe there were some shenanigans going on with the balloting in Ohio. Both major parties might be involved, but I will never be able to prove it, so I may as well move on from belabouring the point. PM Martin is probably delighted now, as I have heard that the Liberal hierarchy has to: SPEAK TO THE WOMEN IN THE LIBERAL PARTY to make sure they are onside for the missile defence or star wars contracts. Just follow thev money folks. Always knew we could count on Paul Martin to kiss the US ass whenever there are defence contracts at stake. Does CSL have a missle defence contract division yet? -

How many Canadians think US election is rigged?
maplesyrup replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Regardless of whether the election was rigged or not, there is a very fundamental reason why the Democrats lost. Their right wing policies are almost identical to the Republicians. And Kerry was a nitemare as leader of the Democrats. Hillary will now become the defacto opposition in the US and will run in 2008 as the Dem nominee. But the Dems do not have a chance in 2008 unless they become a populist party and get involved in representing the ordinary people in the US backed by big labour. Ralph Nader was correct all along.
