  1. Eric Kierans, 90 One of my favourite politicians has moved on to greener pastures I guess. My Dad was a very big fan of Mr Kierans, and actually worked on some of his election campaigns. Canada needs a lot more politicians like him.
  2. With Liberal disarray, Jack and Olivia show could play in Ottawa The NDP are hoping to pick up quite a few seats in the Toronto area, including Toronto Centre.
  3. Monday, May. 10, 2004 If a federal election were called today, how would you cast your vote? Bloc Québécois 90 votes (1 %) Conservatives 1654 votes (20 %) Greens 464 votes (6 %) Liberals 2481 votes (30 %) New Democrats 3327 votes (41 %) Other 153 votes (2 %)
  4. Politically speaking the CBC is basically 100% Liberal, so that accounts for some of the discomfort for some of us, both on the left, and on the right. Seriously though, don't you think the right wing gets enough coverage in the capitalist press?
  5. Cons 26% Libs 38% NDP 16% Am I the only one who finds it odd that that breakdown of the data was not included at the Ipsos-Reid website this time?
  6. Of course the CBC is biased, just like you are. There is no such thing as objectivity when it comes to human beings. What is with the business types who make money their God? Isn't having every newspaper, radio and TV station besides the CBC to promote capitalism enough for you? It seems that the business community sometimes borders on fascism, where no other point of view is tolerated.
  7. Devine may get more support than we realize. There was quite an uproar when he was denied the nomination by the Cons.
  8. With all do respect, and I agree that the provinces need to get on board here promoting various languages, Canada was founded by two cultures, with two different languages, and we need to respect the French language, and promote it, and the same for anglais dans la belle province. Elementary Schools need to be basically bilingual, French & English, and then a third (First Nations), and/or a fourth one (Mandarin, Italian, once in high school. For those who are interested there is a great show on Saturday evenings at 10 PM (PT) on CBC Radio ONE called a prespot. It is Quebecois music with a French musician as host who translates the words into English for each song before he plays it. Delightful.
  9. Who cares what religion someone is? It is a personal matter between the individual and their God or whatever, if do not believe in God.
  10. Devine goes for solo shot Maybe it is time to end party politics in Canada. What good does it do us anyways?
  11. Poll suggests uneasy Liberal majority It really is a shame the NDP do not have their act together in Quebec. At some point the NDP is going to realize that they will have a lot of difficulty forming a national government if they do not set up a social democratic party in Quebec. I'm not sure exactly why they continue to go this route, perhaps it is out of fear of splitting the social democratic vote with the PQ.
  12. Would someone please explain to me what the difference between the Liberal and Conservative medicare policies are because I do not think there are any? The way I see it, the Cons & the Libs both want two-tier, and the NDP do not.
  13. So a gut rights group is going to publicize how MPS voted on issues dealing with sexuality. What's wrong with that? I know in the US, and in Canada as well now, groups track voting records of politicians and publicize their track record prior to elections. I find that kind of information quite helpful, don't you? I mean if someone is anti-gay I would want to know about that person's intolerance, in order to not to vote for that person.
  14. Well, it's now official. Chow to seek federal seat for NDP
  15. Yesterday I read that Peter MacKay had, through an intermediary, approached Don Cherry to run for the Conservatives. Today John Reynolds on Politics basically said he doesn't want Cherry. Which is it guys? Do you really want someone that devisive on your team?
  16. Layton's wife seeks nomination as NDP candidate Olivia is going to have an impact much wider than her own riding of Trinity-Spadina, and her entry as a candidate is an exciting and positive announcement for the NDP.
  17. Layton's wife seeks nomination as NDP candidate
  18. Michael....your timing is impeccable. Stephen who? Phantom of the Ottawa
  19. Why Harper won't get my vote A good example of what this article's author is aluding to, is now that the US invasion of Iraq has turned into a nightmare, Harper is trying to change his position about Canada's involvement. It is just not going to wash for most Canadians.
  20. Maybe we just need to rid Canada of its right wing American puppets, rip up a few trade agreements, and have Canadians, with the assistance of our credit union movement, start controlling and developing our resources ourselves.
  21. Willy....why bother waiting as Carole James will be our premier next year. You and Conrad Black can enjoy each other's company elsewhere.
  22. Court ruling on ads coming This is strictly about the rich and powerful trying to control election outcomes promoted by the Conservative leader Stephen Harper. Who did Harper say he represented again? Free speech issue my ass. Canadians want a level playing field during their elections, and thank goodness that Chretien brought in the new election fonancing act.
  23. Aging sex kitten community wins apology Never a dull moment in our esteemed House of Commons
  24. PM to hold Harper accountable for "everything he has said" This is exactly where Harper is going to run into trouble - his past.
