  1. Thats true, I never meant to imply that they were deliberately trying to wipe out entire groups, just that these things are sometimes done. As for Wright, as far as I can see he's nothing more than an angry nutbar. As a matter of fact when we deployed to Somalia they forced us to use Mefloquin, a highly dubious substance banned in many places as it can cause temporary psychosis in quite a few who use it. I've often wondered if it played a significant role in the Somalia scandal.
  2. Actually I remember reading about that experiment quite some time ago (years), it truly was heinous thing to do. Another one that shocked me was when I read about another experiment, this time targeting mental patients. They exposed these people to varying levels of radiation in order to study the effects on the human body, of course it was done without consent of any kind. If I get time I'll see if I can dig up anything on it. As I said, it was shocking. That didn't take too long after all. Theres actually plenty of info about this. A note of clarification, this article states that consent was in doubt, they're still argueing about whether it was recieved or not I guess. NY Times
  3. This whole thread sort of relates to what I've said previously about food being one of the most very valuable commodities we have. It also serves to illustrate the lack of wisdom shown when we become entirely dependent on others to feed us. Its unfortunate that for many years now we have done far less than we could or should to support and encourage the agricultural sector. Of all things we can invest in our farmers should be one of the priorities, these are the guys who feed us after all.
  4. Well, back to the thread title. Just this morning while getting ready for work they had a piece about the flood on the news. From what they said they are running full tilt in order to process claims under a Federal disaster relief program. So it would appear that "insensitive Harper" is indeed doing something, at least the Feds are, which amounts to the same thing.
  5. Thats very true and if you think about it, especially comparing it to even relatively recent times, it is a low rate. Now how bout that gold star?
  6. This is another rant that I hear all the time lately, yet I've never seen any proof at all of this. Is there any proof that can be shown? The reality would appear to be the opposite in fact. Just recently a young woman I know was busted with a 1/4 lb of weed, a set of scales and about $600 or $700 dollars. She was given a one year conditional sentence. In other words if she keeps her nose clean for a year all charges will be null and void with no criminal record. That seems to be quite a far cry from "1000's of people will be unjustly incarcerated".
  7. Ooh! Ooh! Pick me pick me! High can be defined as anything that can be twisted to support an irrational, even fanatical hatred of the U.S.A. Do I get a gold star now?
  8. Could you provide an example of when such an "only solution" has ever worked in the past? Perhaps refer to Neville for some pointers on the success of such an approach. Now, the above, well it can be summed up as opinion, nothing more. As such it carries the weight of opinion, not fact. As for the style and prose, I hate to tell you this but its rather overblown and long winded. What is truly admirable is the way in which you managed to use all the buzz words available, much to the detriment of the point you were trying to make. So, more to the point. Does anyone here honestly believe that the Taliban would negotiate in good faith?
  9. Ah, here we go again, its about time, been a few days. No guilt at all here CR. Don't let that stop you though. You just keep using those amazing powers of yours that allow you to invariably ascribe the wrong motivations to those you know nothing about. As I said in another thread, predictability can be so gratifying, and you're so gratifyingly predictable. Just another post from you based on your usual method of posting, pulling vapour out of the air and trying to pass it off as fact. How's your new reality you've been imagining working out for you anyway?
  10. Well hello to you too, but you got the wrong guy. I think you meant Argus since this is my first and only post in this thread.
  11. Or perhaps its just a thinly veiled attempt to illustrate how evil and bad all white people are. It would be like me mentioning how I saw a group of Natives in an alley downtown shotgunning Lysol then proposing that because I saw this group doing that all Natives do it. Obviously that isn't true, along the same lines as this behaviour not being true of all white people, or even very many of them for that matter.. Its just a rather feeble attempt to demonize, it holds no water, especially given the fact that it cant be proven in any way, one way or the other.
  12. I don't have to. I have a really nice tinfoil hat.
  13. Actually I agree with some of your points. However that does not make the comparrison valid. War is not just, never has been and never will be. In short, the goal of war is not to seek justice, its more closely tied to conquest or survival, but most certainly not justice.
  14. He may have retired but it doesn't negate the fallout he created.
  15. Damn! And I thought my pirate persona would make a good cover for my real agenda, that is being a plant for the Skulls. Now I have to come up with a new cover. Thanks Margrace, not! But I still do have a really sweet tinfoil hat.
  16. Nope. The place is unreal now, it's surpassed the other known bad spots for murder. In the article I was reading they interviewed a senior citizen. Her house is ringed with razor wire and she's qualified on pistols Ak's and sub machine guns. She took these steps after her home was invaded and her husband killed in front of her eyes. Keep in ind that this woman is not the exception, she's the norm. Nelson did what has happened to other African nations once they revert to black rule, he managed to turn it into a shit hole. Not the same place I lived in back in the sixties thats for sure. Of course thats not politically correct to mention but it is the truth. Look at Rhodesia, aka Zimbabwe. It used to be one of the breadbasket nations of the continent. Now they can't feed themselves and the inflation rate is so high as to be an absurd joke. There are many more examples of that kind of thing on that continent.
  17. No hijacking, I just couldn't believe that anyone could be so disconnected from reality as to actually believe that. In fact since you don't deny it I guess it must be true. I'm still having a hard time believing that you genuinely believe this. In fact now I'm wondering what factors led you to believe such a fallacious concept.
  18. Quite a bit actually. When they first became availlable the Chief of Police of Johannesburg was the first to get one fitted.
  19. Blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda. What the hell does any of your ranting and raving have to do with my really nice tinfoil hat?
  20. You could say any place is dangerous, its all a matter of degree. When people have to fit anti personel flame throwers on their vehicles I'd call that just a little bit extremely dangerous.
  21. Actually no theory at all here, just pure unadulterated fact. So what if you earn your groceries in a hurry. What you are saying is that you place a low value on your survival, suit yourself then. For me survival is of the greatest value. Its hard to place value on personal possessions when you're dead, go right ahead though, devalue your personal survival.
  22. Oh oh. You just said the taboo word, responsibility. This is what I've been advocating as part of the solution to these problems but as you can see from the reaction the entire concept is anathema to Natives and their advocates. The very strong impression I'm getting is that they want autonomy to the extent that they dictate demands and ignore laws whilst being supported for perpetuity by the rest of us. This does not sit well with me on a personal level. All my adult life I've never asked for anything of another, never drawn welfare or unemployment, never used the health system, never asked for grants or dispensations. This being the case I see no reason why others should not attempt to practice this philosophy. Of course the health system and its use is entirely dependent on the health of individuals.
  23. This question leaves me with mixed thoughts. On the one hand there is the visceral reaction, the instinct to just say "thats wrong, because of all the conflict and fighting". On the other hand there are also positives attached to the issue. It will be a major project that will span a number of years. There will of course be a lot of western contractors, there will also be a lot of local hires, not just to run the place but for the actual construction. It will also generate spin off employment in the community and also most likely a good portion of the nation. Things such as food suppliers, busineses contracted to provide services and goods, that sort of thing. Last but not least it will benefit the children. Once again this wont just be in the park itself, but also in the community. No matter how much anyone loathes western ways its pretty hard to find fault with Donald Duck (except for his sense of style) and Mickey Mouse. Its my opinion that both of the above set a far better example than Fisel the killer mouse does. So, all in all I believe this could be a positive initiative when weighed in the balance.
  24. Hey now! Theres only one of those around here that I know of, and that would be...ME...Yay! Right now I'm sitting here wearing my pirate pants, gonna be doing my pirate dance soon.
  25. I guess you didn't hear about the latest breakthrough discovery. They found after extensive testing that if you use it shiny side in, dull side out, it has the opposite effect. My tinfoil hat is really nice. The shell is a perfect bowl shape formed by using the packaging that my surround headphones came in.
