  1. No its not, well, maybe in your mind but that's it. Read the thread title again and try not to distort the actual meaning.
  2. This has to be the winner of the most ridiculous post of the month right here. Okay, you said it, now prove it. Show us where it lists the deers right not to be hunted. Any legal document will do, the Charter, federal, provincial, municipal, any document. Hell, a bubble gum wrapper will do, come on, trot it out and show us where these "rights" are listed. I see, so by what mechanism are "rights" removed from these animals yet granted to others. We won't even touch on the moral aspect of why its okay to kill and eat some animals but not others.
  3. Now thats what I call a Utopian vision.
  4. You should tell that pile of codswallop to the thousands of scientists who are successfully using it in a plethora of disciplines, it might come as a shock to them. The fact is that it does form a part of what is called "accepted" science, just because you deny it does not make it so. Given the fact that a trained chimp has a better grasp of science than you it does not surprise me at all that you would claim it invalid. Do a little actual research before offering an opinion that flies in the face of accepted and proven knowledge. The study and use of mitochondrial DNA is helping to forge new inroads into our knowledge of ourselves as well as our knowledge of such things as cancer and genetically inherited diseases. Actually great advances in such area's have been and are being made, using, you guessed it, mitochondrial DNA. These are advances that can be shown to be real and factual, not faked or made up. Just because it blows holes in one of your key points does not invalidate it. Your denial of fact illustrates nothing more than...well...denial, and your abysmal lack of knowledge concerning all subjects beyond whatever you can get away with making up. Linky linky.
  5. Very true, they're basically throw away computers, more so than the others. When it comes to new hardware I generally don't buy it as soon as its released, I wait a few months, new prices are outrageous. Even then I won't buy the very best in all categories, why pay roughly $1400.00 for an extreme edition Intel CPU when you can buy a $400.00 CPU and O/C it to levels equal to or exceeding the extreme edition one? Motherboards are a different story, I don't mind paying top dollar for the M/B, it is the foundation of everything after all, cases are another important area as well. Right now I'm using an Antec 900 gamers case, I love this box, it looks good, has plenty of room inside and is all ready for the Zalman Resorator to be installed (gotta buy some extra water blocks because I want to cool the GPU's and RAM on both video cards as well as the North Bridge). I've used consoles, they just don't do anything for me. Technically speaking, the first digital game I ever played was a console, Pong. One of the high points of my gaming experience was the first time I programed a simple little game in Commodore Basic for my Vic 20. That was what really hooked me on computer gaming, I don't do any kind of programming anymore though, the art has advanced too far and I've been out of it for too long now. In short I'm pretty much a hardware junkie ( no sh*t eh, I've got eight computers in my home right now and am thinking about building a dedicated media box as well). Since I live alone and have a pretty good job I have the leisure to indulge myself to a certain degree. It is necessary for me to have the power though, when you run games like Crysis or WIC at high res with all effects maxed out it can bring a machine to its knees in a big hurry. Anyway, back to the point. This Dell is a Hybrid in the minds of the Dell marketing people and their minds alone. In truth its just a low end machine, not much different from any other low end machine out there.
  6. I'm not sure what the point is that you're trying to make by submitting these links. Neither one is more than a verbal soundbite without substance or relevance. Both represent the views of single individuals and as such can not be seen as being of any significance over all.
  7. You certainly are proving your superior intellect by resorting to simple insults and unfounded presumptions. Basically it appears that you judge any who do not share your immediate views as being inferior. This in and of itself shows me the true nature of your judgements and exposes your somewhat limited worldview for all to see. From the responses you've posted it is quite obvious that you measure satisfaction in life by the material gains you make. Thats fine, we all do to some degree or another. Thats not all there is to life though. You enjoy attempting to ridicule me because I served, thats fine too. You haven't taken the same path as me and thats why I understand you have no idea of what life is actually about. Thats fine too, for you. You make huge assumptions, secure in your self given certainty that you are right, despite all evidence to the contrary, and when shown you are wrong you retreat into insults and falsifications. You assume that you know both the material and intellectual credentials of all who post here, (reminds me of someone else actually) and you exagerate or just plain falsify certain "facts" to make your point. Given all of the above why do you think even for a moment that you could ever possibly insult me? Yet another stunning example of your superior intellect at work. Maybe that's what passes for humour in your intellectually/materially superior world?
  8. You're a plagarist Topaz, this is an old Chris Rock routine you've adapted that was funny for a moment but no longer. Shame on you for being an intellectual thief. Is that all you've got? Pathetic.
  9. Sure it would be, In your opinion. Some of us however do not wish to be cooped up in some room day after day. Never pushing yourself, never really living. If thats what you see as being more advantageous then more power to you. For myself I happen to see living life to its fullest as being far more advantageous. Living life to its fullest doesn't mean being an office drone all my life, nature gave me certain skills and a propensity to forge ahead, no matter the cost or discomfort. To ignore or deny that would be to ignore an intrinsic part of myself. So for you being an office drone may be the pinnacle of achievment, however it is not necessarily true of all. For myself I much prefer the chalenges presented by change and hardship. After all we only truly grow and develope as a result of of change and hardship.
  10. In your opinion. You know what they say about opinions don't you?
  11. Interesting, not correct but an interesting premise. Here, learn a little about the formation and history of 16th Waffen. A Brief History
  12. No, I think he merely wants to point out that the post in question had a lot of words but essentially didn't say anything much at all.
  13. Nothing wrong with that, in fact thats a big part of what makes the system work. For myself I think its a good thing that he can run. Our system is based on the principle of everyone having a voice, to muzzle him would be to repudiate the principles that we hold dear.
  14. Actually it appears that you are the one who needs the help. Did I not just tell you that I've read many books whoe's subject is Military history? Or did you miss that part? Being retired Military I tend to have an interest in this sort of thing. Some of the conscripts may have had less than desirable levels of training but that does not negate the fact that Canada was and still is to this day considered to be a Nation with very high Military training standards.
  15. Sure they are, thats what happens after successive years of cutting them to the bone. Do you think they can fund their efforts by collecting empty pop bottles?
  16. Hey, at least its a source. How about one detailing how poorly trained Canadians were? I did ask earlier if you'd provide one. Other than your opinion that is. I never said they were involved in D Day, merely used it as an example of Allied training and preparation. Allied training standards were quite high for the most part, being heavily based on British training principles. If you want an actual factual example of your premise then look to the German Military at the close of the war. They were in such desperate straights that they pressed old men and kids into service with no training at all to speak of. That would have illustrated your point far more effectively. Oh yes, some vague statement telling me to go read a book (no titles, just any old book will do I guess) does not count as a source. The fact is that I'm more than a bit of a history buff and have read numerous books about WWII, amongst other conflicts, so your advice is just a little too late on that score.
  17. From reading this thread so far its pretty apparent that Native activists and supporters are very much against McHale running. I have to ask, why? If he actually is a lost cause why such vociferous opposition? You would think they'd be encouraging him so they could laugh their asses off when he fails miserably. Could it be that he does actually enjoy the support of people affected by this whole farce occuring in Caledonia? If that were indeed the case then it would tend to debunk the claims that the people of Caledonia support the Six Tribes network and their thuggish tactics. Just wondering anyway since I haven't been following McHales activities. He does seem to piss off and scare a lot of Native people though. Must be a reason for that.
  18. Never heard that one before. Would you care to provide some proof of this premise? Allied troops trained for over a year prior to the D Day landings. I guess a year of training for a single operation can be construed as poorly trained. Not!
  19. Thats a hard one to dispute. What I find interesting is the fact that in the "Harper does it again" thread Liberal supporters are back on the hidden agenda/scary scary scary bandwagon for no justifiable reason yet right here is a perfect example of Liberal hidden agendas. This example is however convieniently overlooked by Liberal supporters.
  20. This type of reasoning just blows me away. The people who make such statements appear to have this amazing ability to disregard reality and propound baseless ideas as fact. Not one person making such statements can point to one shred of fact or evidence to support such a view. They just ramble on about how they think this will happen then expect everyone to breathlessly say "oh my god, you're right, we're all going to be draffted". Such a truly daft premise.
  21. Well its good to see the Liberals remain a one trick pony. Gut the Military to fund other programs of a, ahem, highly dubious nature. Nothing new here just the same old misguided Liberal philosophy of stupidity and duplicity. What I find interesting is the part where they laugh about not having a housing strategy while they claim to have one. Could this be an example of a hidden agenda? Could it even fall into the Liberals very own self created "scary scary scary" type of backroom machinations. How anyone can support the Liberals and their wingnut ideas is beyond me.
  22. What are you talking about? This is what was said, followed by what I said. Nothing about the Pyramids or Stonehenge shaping our culture.
  23. True, I just can't stand low end hardware, or Dell. They pissed me off with their proprietory designs, I've heard that situation has improved lately but can still be a problem. If I had my way I wouldn't run Windows at all, Linux is far superior but Bill has the PC gaming market sown up with DirectX. Given that you have to run Windows if you want to game then XP is the only choice really. Vista sucks big time, one of my machines runs Vista ( wanted to see what all the fuss over DirectX 10 was about) its subject to crashes for no discernable reason, program incompatabilities and some hardware problems too. Its not doing too well in the market place from what I hear as well, rightly so. Microsoft (and some other companies) are the only ones who can get away with selling you a broken product and then tell you to wait because they're going to fix it later. I didn't need to OC my machine, I just love to see how far I can push the hardware. Since this is a G0 stepping chip I'm running I expect I can get even more out of it than 3.1, when my Zalman Resorator liquid cooling system arrives and I've installed it I'm expecting much better OC's. In fact I've read that people have exceeded 4.0 Ghz with the G0 stepping chip and liquid (one guy hit 4.7 stable under load for 24 hrs). Fun fun fun. The best advice I can give people who buy a mass produced machine is to buy a copy of XP (not everyone needs Pro) and format the machine then reinstall. They should also identify the primary components of the machine then go to the manufacturers website for the latest drivers. Quite often even the bundled drivers are full of junkware and are always outdated, they'll do in a pinch but are far from the best. Like I said, I'm tempted to build an octo core machine but the latest word now is that octo chips are going to be availlable some time next year. Its probably wiser to wait and save a bundle of money. A decent dual chip board that will support dual quads is outrageously priced, about $800.00 or so if I remember correctly, of course quad SLI is already here. For now SLI is more than adequate and my board will support 1333 FSB and triple SLI. Running two 8800 GTX's is wild, three would be awesome, even though the 8800GTX is no longer a new video card it still kicks ass. Actually my frame rates in anything are pretty impressive. Counter Strike Source, they're out the window, Crysis, I'm averaging 90 to 110 FPS, World in Conflict, same thing, even in graphically intense scenes my FPS don't drop below about 65FPS. This is why I won't use a console, they're boring, the games are kind of reminiscent of Kindergarten (even PC ports have way more content) and I really dislike gamepads, I'm a keyboard and mouse gamer. My mouse is corded but it's the best I've used. The Lachesis just feels good and is very fast and responsive. I had a Logitech cordless (I think it was the G8 if I remember correctly) but I far prefer the feel of the Lachesis. Anyway, its good to know that someone else on the forum games.
  24. Interesting, does that mean that they no longer consider it to be for astronomical purposes? They did find the holes in the lintle stones that enable rods to be inserted which then align perfectly with various stars at given times of the year. Possibly it served more than one purpose. I've been to Stonehenge, it may just be a collection of very old and large stones but it exudes a certain aura or power. Hard to say why or what it is but it was almost tangible. Or maybe I was just awe struck when I finally got to see it. I've seen the Pyramids but they just didn't have the same effect on me. I agree, after all the study of both helps us to understand the forces that have shaped our world and our Political/Social systems.
  25. No I haven't. Do you have a link or something, I'm curious and would like to see what they propose.
