Political Correctness Destroys Great Retail Chain, Best Buy
Peter F replied to jbg's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
I don't see where the work environment had/has anything to do with Best-Buys decline or how by ignoring the ethic of no-extremely-close-relations-with-staff will improve Best-Buys position in any way whatsoever. In fact, I can't understand why you even bring up political correctness as the reason Best-Buy is in the state its in....other than ex CEO got tossed for contravenening company rules and is now trying to take the place over. -

The problem seems to be that Betsy cannot allow the possibility that the athiests are right. To do so would be a loss of Faith and she must have absolute faith in Christ. So she see's the fact that athiests allow for a possibility of being wrong as the athiest disavowing athiesm and vindication of her faith. There is no maybe in good-christianland. To allow for maybe destroys the belief. Which is why she figures we are all stubborn mules.

Feeling bad about crime and tragedy

It seems to me kinda odd that you're alleged disconnect occurs because the movie was on opening day as opposed to any other day at the movies. Or that it was a block party and not some picnic/backyard BBQ. -

Copper, Transit Workers & Bicycles
Peter F replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If ordinary Canadians (or even extrordinary Canadians) are melting pennies for the copper content then they may be greedy but most certainly are not smart since the copper content of the penny since 1997 is only on the plating. what the hell are you talking about? -
ah, I see. So squishing science into words like 'Stretched' or '6 day's is really a pointless exercise. I don't think instantaneous pop-pop-poping into existance of all plant and animal life by unexplainable means is anywhere near more plausible than billions of years of cnange as shown by geology or animal husbandry or chemistry or astronomy or quilting for that matter. yes! exactly.

Ok, I was not clear. A language is a language with its own unique structure and grammar. If one language is more difficult to learn than another it isnt so by dint of some plot or other. If French is a more complex and difficult language compared to English that does not excuse the English from failing to speak/write French in a competent manner in order to get a bilingual rating. Nor is it the Franco being shown 'favouritism' by learning English and the poor Anglo 'not being favoured' by learing French.
-
He was pointing out that 'overwhelmingly' does not mean 'all'. 'overwhelmingly' means there was at the very least one who was a lefty. Which contradicts your following statement that 'all' were conservative. Which makes me think you don't know yourself and are just makin crap up. Lying, in other words.
-
Ah, should there be two standards in written reports? Franco's writing in English must meet some high level standard with few if any grammatical mistakes and Anglo's writing in French are allowed all sorts of mistakes. Your argument is French is a more complex language than English Therefore Anglos should be cut some slack.

nobody marching about this terrorist either -
I have no A/C...and yet I have a so-called life. Very Strange.

and yet there are lots of anglophones who pass the tests. Your evidence of Francophones getting an easy ride is pretty shakey No. written French is written French. There is no such thing as 'academic' written French. Like English, the only difference between coloquial and academic is the vocabulary used. The tenses and grammar remain the same in both cases I guess we'll never know about Anglo civil servants speakomg French with horrendous English accents.

Canada Day: Another good reason to despise liberals

Liar. -
Actually I don't think you understand a damn thing. According to you Nazis/Marxists/commies/liberals/NDP/whoever-you-disagree-with are 'Statists' wherein those fools think the state should have some control over the people that make up the state. Yet at the same time "the Right" (whoever the hell they are since you have never defined them - probably because you have no effing idea who the right is beyond yourself) are lesser statists! The Right that I know think we need more prisons; a larger armed forces to intervene in the affairs of other states; like the-rule-of-law (completely statist!); Fire departments and hell even taxes! Your a nut. An anarchist nut.

the theory is silly. Since the passage of time is relative to the observer, the theory goes, then the six days of creation can be any length of time at all and so Genesis is squared with Big Bang. If the '6 days' can be considered any length of time one desires the question is then why not say 1825000000000 days? or two? or one? or instananeous creation? If '6 days' can mean anything we want then the phrase is meaningless and if its meaningless and the author/s of Genesis new it was meaningless why even mention it? If the author/s said six days because they knew the audience would not comprehend the immense time involved for creation then 'six days' should have some sort of relevance in regards to the passage of time that the audience could grasp. So the authors said 'six days' and not '6 years' because 6 days was a more accurate reflection of the actual time that it took for creationto occur: That is to say 'about a week in your feeble terms' and not around a month or around a year. I suspect the story of creation involved six days because those days were necessary in order to get to the seventh day - which is the important day after all. To keep the audience from lazing around all the time the six days were necessary filler. And so the story of Genesis has absolutely dick-all to do with Physics and more to do with social control.
