Perhaps they did fail. But they carry zero blame/fault for the killings. If an engineer builds a bridge that falls due a design flaw down the engineer is responsible.If a doctor prescribes medication that kills a patient due to an allegical reaction the doctor is responsible for not checking but If a guy takes a firearm and shoots people with it then its the fault of the police? Thats plain rediculous.

Sharing the blame? I would say they shared the blame if they took turns shooting people. But they didn't. only one person shot people. Ergo that person carries full responsibility for the shootings. It isnt the cops fault that the shooter shot people.

No. I am saying that the guy doing the shooting is 100% responsible for the deaths of the people he shot/blew up.

No. He caused such tragedy because he made a bomb and set it off and shot a whole bunch of people. The actions and/or inactions of others did not cause the tragedy.

I agree with you. This award was entirely reasonable. Air Canada is supposed to supply French language services where appropriate. Even Air Canada agreed that French language service should have been available in this case. Just to clear up the $12000 dollar reward thing; $6000.00 was punitive damages the rest was to cover the complainants costs. This wasn't about 7up or sprite. edit to add: Federal Court of Canada Thibodeau vs Air Canada wich is a lot more usefull that some bullshit NP opinion piece.

No I am no Quebecer. Raised as a WASP in Saskatoon. Was astounded at the age of 15 or so to actually hear real peaple actually talking to each other in French! Never heard it again either. Met my future Quebecois wife in Victoria BC (she came out there to learn English). Eventually moved to Quebec City and had children. We were together for 25 years, about half of that time split between Victoria, Saskatoon, Southern rural Ontario and Thunder Bay. The rest in Quebec city where the kids were raised. I am an Anglo through and through but my years with my wife showed me the widespread bigotry of my Anglo ilk towards Quebecers. Whereas in Quebec I experienced very little of that. It opened my eyes thats for sure. I think coming up with a workable solution is very very unlikely. There is nothing Canada will offer that will satisfy seperatist desires. Treating Canada as a partnership between two parties - Quebec and the ROC - will never wash in the rest of the country for nationalistic/patriotic reasons that the politicians have to take into account. Too many in English Canada will not allow it. Mulroney figured he could roll the dice on the matter and with Meech lake and Charlottetown. The politicians made the minimum offer to meet the minimum demand (from a federalist premiere no less) and English Canada punished that good deed by destroying the Conservative party. The best Quebec can hope for is to be one province amongst 10 (plus territories). There will be no better offer. and that really doesn't cut it for seperatists. Thier minimum demand is not compatable with what Canada can give; Nationhood. No veto in the world is equivalent to that. Parizeau and Levesque were right; There is no other future for Quebec if you wish to remain Quebecois.

The province currently isn't being victimized by Canada. I know Benz speaks of political victimization - but I don't see much of that. The Social victimization of Quebecers for being French-speaking Quebecers is overt and continuous. Just see the way Quebecers are spoken of on these very pages.

The victim narrative of seperatists is real because if it wasn't there'd be no seperatists. But that doesn't quite fit in to your narrative does it? Seperatists, in your narrative, have nothing to lament or wish was otherwise. They're just makin the whole thing up outta the blue! Yeah, same mantra thats been going on for years and years and years. Hell, ever since the establishment of Quebec Hydro - or saskpower for that matter. Debt! Debt! Yet somehow we all manage. Quebec will manage just fine. The problems Bouchard speaks of can be overcome can they not? Yes they most certainly can. Well obviously that would bug your ass, but it wouldnt bother too many seperatists; They will have achieved what they have been dreaming of for generations - and for what? A soveriegn Quebec nation! I know that don't mean squat to you. Perfectly understandable that you see absolutely no value in that. But you are a fool to assume Seperatists are lying and seek separation soley to cover up some nebulous problem within Quebec society.
