  1. I agree, they have no idea as to what those terms mean. If they did, they wouldn't use them because it makes absolutely sense. I especially like the "Obama with Hitler mustache" posters. Ya that makes sense.
  2. whether its racist or not i think depends on the intent of the person who made the poster. As well the intent of the poster's meaning to those who use it. I agree with other people here, the poster doesn't make much sense, other than The Joker being a villian.
  3. http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2009/09/29/a...o-obama029.html Somebody in power has finally figured out that the strategy of the last 8 years in Afghanistan hasn't worked. They don't need a new strategy, what they need is an entirely new philosophy in that region. I doubt though that Obama will do anything other than "send more troops". It's amazing to me how Obama and NATO seem to have been walking around dazed over the past year, as they have no idea what exactly they doing.
  4. You speak as if all socialists are the poor and they all benefit from the redistribution of wealth. That's incorrect. What about when rich countries like ours gives money & aid to poor third world countries to help them develop? Are we "jealous" of the poor countries? Do they have more than we do? Socialism is about trying to fix income inequality between the rich and the poor.
  5. I respect a solider's opinion. But that is all it is, a soldier's opinion. This solider thinks were are making a difference and not losing the war. How does he knows this? He has a narrow perspective of the war limited to where he is stationed and the areas he has seen. What does he know about the gov't stability and politics of the entire country? About the strength and successes/failures of the insurgents not in his area of deployment? About the other areas of the country? This soldier could very well be making a difference in his area of deployment, but the rest of Afghanistan could be a mess. This is a very complex region and a very complex war.
  6. This is odd. When i click on any thread, i can see the opening post, but anything underneath it is gone and replaced with header links showing the responses to the opening post. I can click on the reply links to see them but can only view them one at a time. This is an example of what i basically see beneath an opening post, except in bigger text and they are all links: - - GostHacked How about we have Israel declare what her nuclear ... 7. Maybe Iran should give up its weapons when Israel actually ADMITS it has weapons and lets inspectors in to see them.
  8. I certainly don't think Canada is immune from terrorism. The arrest & breakup of the Toronto terror cell plotters is proof of that. However, that man who travelled to Canada didn't seem to target Canada in way from what i read. But we are certainly a target, especially since ramping up our forces in Afghanistan
  9. man that 1st song is just horrible. Not very catchy at all. 2nd one is much better, though i sense some plagarism there.
  10. No it's not. However, for those people protesting the health care reforms etc. while holding up blatantly racist signs...well those people are racist.
  11. I didn't see the US getting involved in a civil war over women's rights. Does that mean that women's rights issues were not as legitimate? C'mon that's an absurd statement.
  12. Why should he face trial in the U.S.? Even if he is a terrorist and a traitor, he should still face trail in this country under our laws. Criminals should be punished, but in a fair and humane way as is the rule of law both in the U.S. and Canada. The U.S. has proven that what happens in Gitmo is far from humane or under the rule of law. That's why it's being closed down. I don't have much faith that he will be treated fairly in a Gitmo trial. The 40% of Canadians polled who think he will be treated fairly in a Gitmo trial are either dim or delusional. Unfortunately, Khadr is a Canadian and is our problem.
  13. oooh there's that scary word: socialism! Exactly what kind of "socialist" do you think Obama is? What is it exactly about Obama's policies that has taken the US away from being a "free democracy"?
  14. Yup, you're the type of person who falls under the "typical Palin supporter" label. You know, the type of person who can't spell.
  15. The blame only goes to Bush because this mission was doomed to failure from the very beginning. All participating nations are also equal to blame. The philosophy behind the mission is a joke. You can't win a military victory in Afghanistan. Well you could, but you'd need about 1 million or more troops on the ground there. Since that would need the draft, it's quite an unlikely scenario...and even then it's no guarantee. Given the history of those foreign forces who have tried and FAILED to conquer Afghanistan going back to Alexander the Great, NATO thinking they can solve the Afghanistan problem the way they have been doing it is completely moronic. I don't have a problem with the Canadian military going into hot zones and shooting their guns. However, this must be done in only the most dire of circumstances. Afghanistan and Iraq doesn't fall into this category.
  16. Hmm, i think you're on to something! Don't forget not educating the sons too, we'll need them too of course . Basically, we need to change the sex-ed they learn in school. make them watch pornos instead. And no more safe sex. WE NEED TO BAN CONDOMS AND BIRTH CONTROL!! We need the good ol' days back when everyone had 5-10 siblings.
  17. Yup, sadly. Change we can believe in yippee! Now lets kill some brown people...
  18. Ya, nobody buys Spider-Man and Superman comics anymore Yes, character flaws do make for more interesting characters. Spider-Man (nerdy teenager), Iron Man (an alcoholic), and basically any character created by Stan Lee in the 60's had some kind of flaws to appear more human and easier to relate to. But at the end of the day most from the pre-70's era were still always-do-rights & learned from their lessons. Darker characters like Wolverine, Punisher, Ghost Rider, Swamp Thing only came because comic readers started to become adults (same happened to pro-wrestling). I grew up on Luke Skywalker, He-Man, and Hulk Hogan as my fictional heroes, and all were squeeky clean. Few (good) parents throw their 7 year-olds a Punisher mag or let them watch 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin.
  19. You meant Moonbox. 2 different people. Confusing? Yes. But i was here 1st haha. Anyways, screw the polls. If towards the end on an election campaign polls show the Cons near or at a majority, i think you'd see a shot of movement towards the Liberals in order to prevent a CPC majority. I'd think NDP & Green supporters might jump to Liberal if that was the case, and some on-the-fence voters who would have voted CPC otherwise. It sure would be a darn fun experiment though to see what the CPC would do with a majority. WHO'S UP FOR ANOTHER WAR??!? Anyone wanna sign-up with me to shoot at Ruskies in the arctic?
  20. he shoulda played the Muslim card. Everybody loves muslims.
  21. Bush sure was a tough & tenacious S.O.B. i'll give him that. At least until the end of his 2nd term when he finally realized how much people hated him & how much screwed up, he started to show some bruises.
  22. I don't think Obama played his race up much in the campaign. There was the thing early on during the primaries w/ Rev. Wright, and his speech about race afterwards, but on whole that hurt him. Obama talked about "change", which was maybe 70% anti-Bush/anti-neocon and anti-status quo and 30% the race thing I think the media and Obama supporters made a much much bigger deal about Obama's race than Obama himself did.
  23. You want to solve this problem? Give Canadians massive tax breaks for having kids, especially with someone with 3+ kids. Do this instead of bringing in the kind of immigrants that have little education or transferable education/skills who end up sucking the system and yet haven't spent their life (or their parents spent their lives either) paying into the system. Why not give more incentives to Canadians to have more kids instead of just bringing in more immigrants? i don't understand it. it doesn't make economic or social sense.
  24. Yes it is. I've worked at a daycare as an assistant. They are run by Early Childhood EDUCATORS. And much of what you teach young children isn't ABC's and 1-2-3's either. Though i think it's always better for the child to be with a parent, at least until pre-school.
