  1. Personally i think he has one of the best shows on MSM TV for sure. His show tackles important issues which for whatever reason many in MSM don't debate or have intelligent discussions about. The people he brings onto his panels are decent as well. I also think he is a very calm, rational, well-informed, and intelligent individual. I wish CNN would kick "Rick's List" off the air and stick Zakaria on the news every day. The MSM needs more Zakaria's.
  2. Are you saying it should be illegal for me to walk around in a halloween mask in stores? Ridiculous. But a bank maybe i can understand, and schools if you are an adult guest. Hell, a winter toque and a scarf covers about as much as a veil. Only time i can see a veil being forced to be removed is when proper ID must be shown ie: taking a passport photo, drivers license photo, health card etc., when voting. Also when working at a job (like RCMP or military) which demands a certain uniform to be worn.
  3. This is INCREDIBLY stupid to be giving Afghans this kind of weaponry. Odds are decent that Canadian soldiers could be getting shot at & killed by these very helicopters and weapons in a decade or whatnot. Did Canada learn anything from the 80's USSR invasion and the CIA funding the Mujaheddin?
  4. Why? If there is great demand for particular skilled workers where the lack of them is hurting the health of Canadians, why not? Wealthy people pay more taxes generally than poor people. Is that "justice" too. Everyone isn't treated equal in Canada by law. Just ask senior citizens. Justice be damned. Do what is needed to better the country and keep the idealistic poop on the sidelines.
  5. this poll makes no sense. the answers are weird.
  6. She was fired for one reason only: as a political move to take the heat off the CPC. If Harper had kept Guergis on, the opposition and the media would have been blasting Harper/CPC this entire time, thus damaging the party. Harper keeping her on would have been more politically damaging (especially if she was eventually proven guilty) than the damage caused by firing her even though she had not been proven guilty of anything. She is now cleared, and Harper can bring her back into the party and apologize or make whatever moves he wants. Point is that it was the right political move for the CPC/Harper, even though it was wrong ethically and possibly legally. Actually it could turn out to be the wrong move after all if Guergis isn't let back in and she decides to sue.
  7. Just finished playing through Braid again. Awesome game but a little confusing on the plot.
  8. I don't know about "rare", but yes there are definitely many foreign muslims/arabs/persians etc. who fight in the Taliban, similar to foreigners (ie: bin laden) fighting with the Mujaheddin in the 80's.
  9. I actually doubt that. I think if Harper/CPC got a majority he would slide further to the right and if he were smart would slowly try to do so to see how much he could get away with before the public revolted and poll number started to slide. He would be a fool at least not try to test the public's threshold for a more right-wing policies. He could also push more right-wing policies in the first few years once elected, then go back to more moderate polices within a year or 2 of another election. As we know, Canadian voters have a short memory.
  10. And if history repeats itself, some of the guerrilla fighters trying to repel the current occupiers of Afghanistan may be tempted to expand to transnational terrorism after we leave just as members of al-Qaeda did after the USSR pulled out. lovely.
  11. You think this is achieved without affirmative action. Whitey still often gets the job all thing being equal, or even when blacky is more qualified. Just ask my dad. Retired long-time small business owner. Didn;t much like brown people.
  12. I loved GI Joe as a kid but never saw that thing. ITS HUGE!!!!!!
  13. I'm sure it had some impact. I also subscribe to game magazines and they have ads in there.
  14. But what's the alternative? Stay another 10 years, then leave? Stay until we crush the Taliban, which could take 50 years?
  15. Holy freaking crap i think you actually made a good point.
  16. He/she didn't refer to "every attack" in the world, but was referring to 9/11. 9/11 occurred partly because of blowback, but also because of wacko radical Qutbist beliefs.
  17. Al-Qaeda have not repelled this invasion, the Taliban has. And as i stated before, no my knowledge the Taliban have not attacked the West other than on Muslim territory in defense of their own country. Yes they did harbour al-Qaeda, but the Taliban did not hijack any planes on 9/11 or attempt attacks any other Western cities. The Taliban has shown little to no sign of being a major threat to launch transnational terrorist attacks against the West.
  18. We aren't teaching terrorists anything. You do realize that there are are hardly any al-Qaeda left in Afghanistan, right? I'd rather have them return to Afghanistan and blow them to hell in one of the supremely poorest nations on earth than ramping up strikes at them in nuclear-armed Pakistan.
  19. I agree it would be a show of weakness. However, remaining there would continue to weaken us as well as we waste money, resources, and lives. As i also said, the longer we occupy middle-eastern countries, the more reason we give them to attack us. I think leaving Afghanistan shows we can't just go into any country and hold/control and occupy it. However, if terrorists return to Afghanistan we should surely show them that we will blow them to hell if they try to set-up camp.
  20. Is this true? Gmail looks more professional than Hotmail? Seems silly, but many of my friends switched to gmail from hotmail over the years and use their full names so maybe they use the address for work. I will be using this email for work also so this is a definite concern.
  21. ahh thanks, i didn't know what that feature was called. I checked and hotmail has bcc also.
  22. There are people who work in the "green" industry that do have an agenda which is money and/or profit driven, but just as there are people in the skeptic circles who have an agenda with energy corporations. 2 sides of the same coin looking for coin. Not to say all or even most people on either side are in it for the $$$, but it interests do play a part in environmental debates. The tricky part is distinguishing the honest scientists from the dishonest ones, and/or the impartial data from the "agenda" data. This the thing that pulls my hair out because it's so hard to know whom/what to trust on either side.
  23. He's a scumbag but i'll welcome him and his money back into the Canadian economy.
