  1. I agree. He was like "balls to this, i'm outta here!". He should have said something like "If you only had a small amount on personal possession then no, I wouldn't spent state time and money arresting people like that. I don't agree with legalizing medical marihuana, but we should be going after the big operations that are dealing and not the little guys like you". Then before the dude can open his mouth, bail!
  2. With the babyboomers, this country is screwed. To pay for their healthcare and other benefits, we'll need to raise taxes or go into more debt. The alternative is to cut healthcare services and senior benefits, or cut all government spending across the board. Either way, somebody is getting screwed. The gravy train is ending, the gov has to either cut services or take more money from pay cheques. I'm just glad I'm not an aging babyboomer right now!
  3. Obama/Biden vs McCain is a proven loser, so why go for a loser again? I think it's a longshot for a Nixon repeat situation again. Palin was a bigger problem than McCain on that ticket, but he did pick her. Even if Mitt asked McCain he may have taken his crack and may not want to run again. Romney/McCain isn't a horrible ticket for the GOP, but I agree with most here that it's very likely not going to happen.
  4. That's absolutely ridiculous. Why would you purposely want to lose? Spend all those millions to lose? Also, the people who chose McCain were essentially the tens million Republican party members who voted in the primaries. These were ordinary people who wanted to win as bad as Obama's supporters, they had no collusion agenda to sabotage their own party's chances.
  5. I just threw out some older pentiums circa 1998 cleaning out the basement. Guess I should have kept one. Arrrg!!
  6. Romney wins in Florida by a very big margin. I guess he'll be winning most of the rest of states unless Newt can pull off front-page debate responses days before the voting.
  7. Yeah I'm playing X-Com on dosbox. Nifty! Still haven't tried bothered to figure how to play my old Pentium I era games that require old versions of Windows (probably Windows 95) but won't play on current Windows.
  8. I remember this story when it first hit, when Rick was a nobody not running for Prez. Now it's even more hilarious. I'm also reminded what an ass Santorum is when it comes to homosexuals. So for the GOP we have left a crazy Christian homophobe, an angry old white guy, a hardcore libertarian, and Ted Danson. Go Danson!
  9. Good riddance to disgusting people. I'm glad this sends a strong message that Canada doesn't put up with this crap. Bravo to the judge.
  10. Dipping into the past, playing 'X-Com: UFO Defense' for PC. It's still super fun, aged amazingly well with age!
  11. I think his post is sarcastic. I think.
  12. A blockade is an act of war. Saudi Arabia would be none to happy. There could be regional war, and the US and very likely NATO would get involved. So ya, war. This would then give the US/Israel & allies the provocation they would need to launch an air attack on Iran nuke facilities. Given it's an election year, Obama wouldn't want to be seen as soft so he would blow something up almost certainly if Iran refused to back down.
  13. The whole thing seems kind of useless. Why waste taxpayer dollars & rep time drawing up & voting on this?
  14. I think that's an understatement!
  15. Noticed this recently. I used to have SunTV on channel 66 (666?) with the rest of the Rogers basic cable channels under channel 100. Now it's gone, and ch. 66 is replaced with 'CityNews Channel'. It's kinda like any other "headline news" type channel, ie: crappy. Now if you have Rogers basic cable no more SunTV. If you want SunTV, as far as I know you have to either pay $20 for the next level of Rogers cable ("Digital Plus") or pay $5 for the "news" package of channels. IMO I think this is too bad since SunTV, while IMO complete rubbish half the time, at least offered very different point of views than just about all other Canadian MSM TV...which is almost always a good thing. I'm curious as to the reason for this change.
  16. Money isn't the cure-all. There is no cure-all. Maybe many of the problems have to do with the fact that native culture and ways of life have been completely thrashed upon since colonial days? Maybe that the aboriginal communal way of life is not compatible with the rest of Canadian capitalist society? Money can't fix a person's identity or culture. Maybe the natives have been pretty much doomed to be f'ed since the day whitey moved in.
  17. At the time there wasn't a ton of choices. He wasn't going to pick Hillary. If not Biden then who? John Edwards? Bill Richardson? That's about the other choices.
  18. LOL at anyone who can watch the whole thing. More than a hour of blah blah, I drifted off less than 30 mins in.
  19. oops, this was supposed to be posted in the "religion" thread.
  20. Tried to start reading the New Testament. Seems it's kind of full of b.s. like everything else. From Matthew 5, Jesus says: Say wha? This is likely the very verse that made it so difficult for my parents to get married within the Catholic Church. Daddio was divorced, big no-no!!! I guess I'm a child of sin or something 2 sentences after the above wacky verse Jesus goes on to say some famous verses I like, ie: love thy enemy, and 'turn the other cheek'. Btw, the disciple "Matthew" did not write this gospel as it is often attributed to him, and it was thought to be written about 90 years after Jesus' death by a Jewish intellectual who obviously didn't witness any of it. This is typical of the other 4 canonical gospels. So how the balls can you take any of it seriously?
  21. I think the debates are a bit ridiculous now. The candidates all seem to agree, they should be debating the issues instead of talking about this or that allegation. Romney's tax returns and whatnot are relevant but when these sorts of things clog up a debate and are the main things to appear on newsreel highlights for those who didn't watch the debate it's ridiculous. I would think people should be voting mostly based on policy and who will be most adequate at governing, not who had the best zinger based on questions about extra-martial affairs and whatnot. The fact that Newt kicked butt in South Carolina largely based on an answer to a q about his love-life instead of what his policy stances are and his record in gov't is pretty scary. All four GOP candidates have records that speak more truthfully than any debate quips can and is the most effective measure of what each would do as President, so does the primary process have to be so dragged out and sensationalized? These momentum shifts based on what a candidate said and/or was accused of yesterday instead of how he voted/governed/achieved over the last couple of decades is ridiculous.
  22. Shady, Waldo, any letter grade you want to give Obama? Maybe I should have made this thread a poll lol.
  23. I bet that Atlanta Jew now has like 27 bugs all over his house sucka!
  24. Why? Egypt's uprising was fairly non-violent in their protests and look what they did.
