  1. God might be better described as a drug.
  2. Good conclusion. Wrong, but good. This isn't about climate change. Please apologize to Steve. Thanks.
  3. quote] http://www.canada.com/topics/bodyandhealth...1a1&k=24128&p=1 Nice of them to try to hide information, that we the tax payer paid for, to have ourselves better informed with the truth, eh?! Nice of the previous government to spend taxpayers' money on such a frivilous study.
  4. Nothing will stop jdobbin's efforts to monopolize this thread with his utterly useless countdown. I'm thinking of starting a countdown to the day the Liberals pay back all the sponsorship money they stole from taxpayers. How many days are there before never?
  5. But she did have to wait in line. Even though the commissionaires became aware of her at 8:15 am, she didn't get out until 10:45 am. A couple of hours seems reasonable to me. No reason to scream bloody murder. I do have to ask, if you're going to try to hang the Conservative government on this one, how do you feel about the health care wait times caused by the Liberal government? And will you be voting Liberal any time soon?
  6. Thanks for the link. Did you read page 2? Since there are provisons in place for people like her so they don't have to stand in line at all (no, it's not Harper's fault her family was vacationing in Australia) and if they do they can go to the front of the line, I really don't see what the big deal is about. Also, she could get her passport within 48 hours by paying an additional $70. That sounds reasonable. Read page 3 of the link and you'll see that they declined to expedite her application. I did read the entire story, including page 3. Her application was expedited. She was moved to the front of the line. Her friend asked if they could expedite it even further. Basically her friend was saying "Can't you do it any faster?" This is to what the manager replied, "No." Procedure does take some time. Pure media spin. This story could have been written very positive. A lady with terminal cancer didn't have to wait in line and was able to get a passport within 48 hours so she could see the world. That wouldn't have sold as many papers.
  7. How could this citizen have been more responsible? http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/news/st...1d0310f&k=66359 Thanks for the link. Did you read page 2? 8. For a party which campaigned on a platform of government accountability, it's astonishing how rapidly they've transformed themselves into a party that blames their citizens instead of takes responsibility. As minister responsible for Passport Canada, you'd think Peter MacKay would be willing to take some responsibility. Citizens have to be responsible as well. Trying to blame this one on the Conservatives is a bit of a stretch.
  9. But for Tory supporters to feel this way about May surprises me. Perhaps they, like the NDP, view her as potentially stealing some of their votes as the electorate becomes increasingly more disillusioned with the inept, current government. If a Liberal government was in power, do you think they would have let the comment go unchallenged? May is all about getting attention. Aside from this, I think running against Mckay shows poor judgement. The best thing she could do for her party is win a seat. Currently the Greens are nothing more than a lobby group.
  10. By whom? Iraq? Certainly not. No, not by Iraq. By a terrorist organisation and those who supported them. Are you of the belief there most be a state to qualify as war? Groups are commonly engaged in war. 911 was no different. Do you not believe retalitation was warranted? Well, by your own admission, retaliation against Iraq was unwarranted To be clear, I was referring to retaliation against Al-Qaeda and the Taliban of Afganistan. It's amazing to me, some people still confuse the two wars.

  12. Firstly, would you not consider 911 to be an act of war? Plenty of innocent women and children killed there. Pearl Harbour was on North American soil as well. As far as the blanket statement that North Americans do not know what war is, I think you could say many people are too self-absorbed to care what their soldiers are facing abroad. It is sad to see comanies allowing to take an extra day at xmas in lieu of Nov 11. How disrespectful. One point the clip does make, is to always question what you hear in the media. Often, you'll hear is that Canada is a nation of peacekeeping, not war mongerers. The reality is we've never been war mongerers and most likely never will be, but we will be a nation that goes to war to achieve peace. Some believe "peacekeeping" is about entering after a conflict has ended to provide more of a maintenance role. This is not who we've (Canada) been historically. The Korean war, Falklands and Kosovo were all wars.
  13. Seems like it can be done without destroying the economy unlike Baird's forecasts seem to suggest. I'd argue "drastically reducing reliance on the burning of coal, oil and other fossil fuels" indicates Canada's ecomony would be drastically affected.
  14. My thought would be pull the guys balls off and deal with the legalities later....if it means saving the lives of my people. Actually this approach might be justified for the Taliban. What good are 72 virgins, if you don't have any balls?
  15. That , coupled with the Harper rant about Mannings wardrobe, is the gist of the discussion, save for the Rovian tactics to spin it . Now watch this get spun. Did Harper ever criticize Chretien's or Martin's wardrobe? There is a big difference between the image of a party leader and the image of the Prime Minister, who represents our country. Secondly, yes people are trying to make a big deal out of Harper needing a stylist and, more accurately, who should pay for it. It's likely arrogance out of frustration, for the media trying to tear him down on every little thing. Yesterday, Robert Fife, basically blamed him for the Shayne Doan incident. Please, let's debate who was more arrogant, Chretien, Martin or Harper and who took the greatest advantage of the taxpayer, Chetien, Martin or Harper. Tell me who you think and why.
  16. Convenient how your "memory" paints the Liberals in the most favourable light. Unlike you Ricki, I don't need to lie to cover up for my masters.... I have no idea who the stylists where, how does that apply to this siutuation anyway? If you were responding to the posts instead of trying to spin this, you would realize that no one begrudges that Harper needs a stylist, its his arrogance that we don't need to know what it is costing us. You can bet the Liberal stylists were their friends. Judging by Chetien, they got paid for little or no work.
  17. .....now the fear of torture, that works. I would agree with this. Fear of torture is a stong motivator in interrogation. There is a big difference between "talk or something will happen" and "don't talk and nothing will happen."
  18. If you ask me, once Canadain soldiers turn prisoners over, they or the Canadian government shouldn't have to worry about how they are treated. NATO should be the body that ensures POWs are treated as they should be under the Geneva Convention. End of story. Move on.
  19. CO2 is a poison?
  20. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you seem to be stating that when the earth goes into a warming cycle and causes melting, CO2 naturally rises. Therefore, the manmade claim is skeptical at best and shoudl be debated further.
  21. Shane Doan wants to put soldiers on our streets. We're not making this up.
  22. What's in your face are numerous posts trying to inform you that the debate isn't whether the planet is warming or not. So how does buddy whosit having to pack up his non-CO2 emitting camel and head to Moose Jaw add to the debate?
  23. The government is apparently paying money for this team. If the hockey team wants politics out of hockey, they should really stop receiving money first. Actually, you and I are paying money for this team. We're also paying MPs salaries to get things done. One of these is worthwhile and makes for good tv.
