Is the Spending High or not? Do you agree with this level of spending.

There is no reason to keep the Senate however the Senate is government. It is an unnecessary government. Here is a link to prove that the Senate is government. http://www.sen.parl.gc.ca/ I think your political bias towards the CPC desire to have a different way to select dead wood is getting in the way of whether or not the Senate is government.

I see no reason for an opposition party to crack the whip on a budget vote. It has been the practice of the opposition conservatives.

I agree. "Vote the party line or take a hike" doesn't sit well with me. As the sole political representative of any given region, it's an MP's' "Duty" to carry out the will of the constituency regardless of sandbox politics or party loyalties. The role is to respect the will of the constituency. Maintain party Loyalty when requested. Do what you analyse to be in the best interest of the community regardless of the "will of the constituency or party loyalty. Not all MPs follow the party line. Those that do not can be turfed. That is the risk they take. Not all MPs do the will of the people and are not re elected. That is the risk they take. Not all MPs act in the best interest of the community. I think they must bet the ones getting re elected

Question for any police or prosecutors...

This poll isTroll Bait. -
Dion was asking for it. There were soldiers in the gallery. Harper's a pretty smart guy and made Dion look like a fool. Harper owes Dion nothing. Politics is rough, if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen. The Prisoners are missing and anything could have happened to them in Afghanistan. The most likely scenario, knowing Afghan customs, is that family have sprung them with bribes. They are probably back in Pakistan rearming to attack Canadian Soldiers. Harper takes pot shots because he can't help himself. I am certain the soldiers may have enjoyed the demonstration of Harpers Bravado, but that doesn't identify where the prisoners are today. This is the same Problem the Americans Have in Iraq. Bush is no longer saying "Bring em On". He is saying, get me the heck out of this mess. It is common sense to want to know what has happened to the prisioners. Other NATO allies keep track. Not good enough for us or Harper or is his only goal to make Dion look like an Idiot. Big Deal, he scored points. The Soviets had to deal with this same problem when they took prisoners in the 80s and handed them over to their Afghan Allies, it didn't work out for them either.

Whenever I read a thread on the CBC in these forums, it becomes apparent that there are those whom are going to oppose whatever it does, under any circumstances. Any Canadian Production being watched by a large viewing audience is a good thing. Regardless, I don't watch Canadian Idol or American Idol. Yet this is often the programming for the viewing public. Take good news as good news. If the CBC has ratings success, then I would think we should be pleased by this.

He just squeeked past the NDP in the last election. Is there someone else nominated to run in the riding? Is this riding up for grabs?

JBG, I don't know how it works in your country. But here in Canada, a budget isn't how we make babies. I will explain how it works in Private Mail Wait a minute.... Is Viagra in the budget??? That might do it. I stand corrected.

Ontario going to $10 hrly wage within two years.
madmax replied to Topaz's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Liberals running scared of the NDP? This is nothing but damage control. Not because the Liberals think that people need an income boost to $10 in the next few years. It is because the NDP earned another seat in Toronto and they need to neutralize the NDP momentum. They also realized that while controversial, the NDP $10 min campaign had staying power, unless they came up with one of their own. Typical Liberal Strategy. http://www.cbc.ca/money/story/2007/03/21/m...y-min-wage.html -
Thanks for those numbers. That was a thorough analysis. I haven't even looked at the budget, but I am reading your critique of it so I am taking alot of what you put forth at face value. I can see those who are dissapointed have a distinct vision of what a federal budget should entail. This appears to be a very populist budget. It also appears like an election feel good budget if you live in Quebec. I don't know how thrilled I would be if I was Premier of BC Sask or NFLD. At least it isn't a partisan attack. A Liberal, NDP and Conservative Premier have to explain to their electorate why this budget sucks for them.

It would appear that Separtist Quebecers have Harpers attention and your Separatists movement does not.

And another towering Leftist intellectual joins the site. Great. Just Baylee.

Are you questioning Harper's sexual orientation? I thought the Conservatives were supposed to be the homophobes. You will notice in the sidebar beside the poster name that he/she has been banned. NowDefeatPoverty aka Baylee, Jenny and many more alias is banned once again. It is troll bait, don't bite.

It could happen quite easily and in fact I think it will. Making friends with Chavez or going to do another coup? I don't know how oil will drop lower than $40 in the near future. Please enlighten me as I think Alberta has an economic advantage in non renewable resources for 50 to 70 years and by then new technologies may reduce the need for Albertas non renewable resources.

If a Federal Election were held today 14 March 2007...
madmax replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I have not noticed a significant bias in these forums. There are opinions that are extreme in their views and their postings. I have noticed quite a few posters are more pragmatic. And other posters are just hacks and shills whom think the parties they support poop doesn't stink. I believe the results in the poll above is accurate to those whom use this forum, but certainly doesn't reflect the mainstream polling data that is frequently posted in these threads. One thing I like about this forum is there is good Western representation here. This is something new for myself. I haven't spent alot of time talking to anyone outside of Ontario with regards to politics. I like this forum and those who are here. Moderates, hacks and shills. It's all good. What I don't like are ignorant rude people. And this is the exception. -

You are really stretching this one out. Now you have the topic on Harper. Nobody mentioned Harper. A CPC candidate who's picture isn't all that flattering. A critism of Chretian. Yet you want to start talking about some hearsay and transfer it to this forum. If someone here calls Harper a Nazi, then call them on it. Leave the hearsay at home. Stephen Harper has strange hair and his belly is getting big. -

So attacks on a person's physical appearance are ok if it is a Conservative? There was a Liberal Candidate that the media claimed resembled Mr Burns from the Simpsons. They put the picture of Burns and the Candidates picture side by side. I am trying to find it, it was funny in a wierd way. -

Does this mean you could vote CPC or that you might vote something else depending on the nature of the CPC candidate? Do you swing between the NDP and the CPC? -
Stephane Dion's deal with Elizabeth May in Nova Central
madmax replied to Canadian Blue's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Who knows if May will actually run there. She said she would run in London again. She could change her mind. My personal view is that she should run where there isn't an NDP base. There are plenty of rural regions where the green vote is higher then the NDP vote. These regions have never, and never will vote NDP to any large degree. But they will vote green. I think May could do far better in a rural riding where the Green Vote is already higher then the NDP. She could go after both the CPC and Lib votes. That said, I am starting to find her pretty flakey. -

I didn't think posters here were allowed more than one screen name. Some people are repeatedly banned. You will soon be able to identify people with these behavioural traits. -

If you don't capitalize the words "defeat" and "poverty", it is no longer a pun. Idiot. Baylee. Stephen Dion, Other times, you are George Harper, Stephen Bush, Jenny and nowdefeatpoverty and I am certain I missed a few. You have issues. You will get banned again. -

He won by 6,200 votes. 40.6% to 32.9% for the second place Liberal. That is pretty far form "barely winning". That was the NDP in 2nd place. Their numbers rose in 2004 and again in 2006. And 6000 votes is a pretty good cushion. -
Is the NDP waving the white flag?
madmax replied to fellowtraveller's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
How many former NDP leaders have went to the Liberals in the last 5 years? I think a significant number. They get to hook up with Garth Turner. Like to hear them talk shop. Quebec is where the next majority come from. What's the NDP poll there 1 %? -
Are you certan they are lies? Do you have proof he is not a house of commons employee. Why is Canada.com Lying?
