  1. The Senate should be elected and have power to represent the people. You aren't serious about disolving unnecessary government. Why did you even start the thread.
  2. That's correct I could use the better term PIG TROUGH So you want to keep the Senate or Not?
  3. There is indeed a debate. There are those whom have put forth arguments that the climate is getting cooler. I don't believe that there is anyone who doesn't believe that climate changes. Always a critic. I do my best to put up an honest poll that isn't slanted nor try to make anyone appear stupid. However sometimes I have been blown away by a poll or two I put forward that turned out to be blowouts. Not because of the question, but merely the fact that poll identified the majority opinion here. Soon I will hold a vote on the question to be asked.
  4. That is correct. Thus all the media begging for a war the President was delivering. Only to turn their back on it and him once it was determined to be the sham it always was and that it has been an excercise in why incompentent Republican Hacks should never be given positions of authority in Iraq. But media reflects the audience because if the media is not connecting, it will not be watched or read. And that would be true in both examples for and then against the war. I don't believe this. I have no reason to believe that Canadians are anymore Conservative today then they were in the past. What example might you give to support your position?
  5. Thanks for the answer. I was going to create a chain of polls within the poll thread from the start. That would have allowed for you to answer in one format such as, Yes I believe it is getting warmer, or no I don't believe it is getting warmer and then a followup question which would ask whether or not you believe we can do anything about it and such. But I appreciate that you have clarified your answer for this poll.
  6. I like the part about efficient and effective and the arguments with regards to downsizing possibly creating more bloated government. I was just thinking, we could still abolish the Senate, save money, and it wouldn't affect a single thing in our lives.
  7. It would appear that this isn't as big an issue as all the jaw jawing that has been going on in this forum over the past year. Or those that believe the climate is actually getting colder are winning the debate.
  8. No, its now almost the NAU. The negotiations are pretty much finished. Our armies have been amalgomated. Look at the Canadian Action Party website fir details Canadian Action Party None of the mainstream parties are going to tell you about this. What are you talking about? The Liberals and Conservatives have been promoting Economic Integration for 2 decades. Liberals have been talking Free Trade for over a Century. The only difference is the Conservatives joined them. Security has come to the forefront because of the concerns of its negative impact on trade. However, you are hyping things up, and make it seem like their is some secret movement occurring. It is no secret, it is the direction this country is going. Like the "National" Party, the Canada Action Party holds a vision closer to Conservatives of the Sir John A MacDonald or John Diefenbaker mold. Nationalist and Independant. But unlike the original Conservative Party, the CAP couldn't get as many votes today as Sir John A got in 1867 when only male landowners where allowed to vote. That said, the closet thing to this version of Nationalism in a mainstream party is the NDP.
  9. Things that are done in PM should remain in PM. You have apologized, but there really wasn't a point on which to continue this thread. The conversation had drifted off topic. It clearly belonged in PMs. Just because the next PM action isn't one you approve of, it is still a Private Affair, and really, none of my business. Now it is public and I feel it is my business. Of course your reply doesn't make complete sense to us readers. We don't have the whole conversation, and it is not for our consumption, but for yours. So, I hope that people use the PM feature for their Private affairs and conversations and keep them out of the Public Arena. That's my opinion.
  10. Don't get too excited...The budget won't pass. You have a crystal ball?
  11. Right now the Liberal Plan is whatever the NDP or Green Party have on offer. The reason for this is that the Conservatives haven't got one yet to steal. Once the Conservative Plan is created the Liberals will have a plan. However, if the Conservative plan is not palatable to the voter, then the Liberals will scream bloody murder, win the support of the people and if the conservative plan is not enacted yet, they will enact it and claim they had no other choice. The real failure of this, is that climate change has become a big issue to the Canadian Public, but mainly for the reason that nothing has been done. In the scope of day to day living there are things to get on with that are just as important. Once a bill is passed on the Environment, this issue will fade like the other issues that were successfully addressed in the 80s. Liberal Inaction and Conservative Footdragging are moving an issue that was off the radar screen 10 months ago, to front and center and keeping it there.
  12. You sure your not from Canada? It would make a great Rick Mercer show, if he asked all those stupid questions and he got you in New York, just batting the answers out of the ball park. Canadians don't know their country or their political system very well. But you have a very good grasp. Even though I disagree with every keystroke you make
  13. The "Right Wing" brought us this delightful tax. Possibly the largest single tax increase to the individual. But a great source of revenue. I believe that in 2004 the NDP platform included removal of the 7% GST on an assortment of essential goods and services which would result in greater savings to the individual. So the Tories changed this a little in 2006 and made it an across the board savings but one that wouldn't save an individual as much money.
  14. I have seen lots of debate on Climate Change. I am occassionally seeing posts that suggest our climate is getting colder not warmer. What is your opinion, don't just post here without voting in the online poll.
  15. Child supplement perhaps but no real definable choice. These handouts have existed before and have been both opposed and supported by various conservative governments. That is not a difficult task considering how many cuts occurred in the last 10 years to all public programs by the Liberals. It's about time. CF personell could use a raise. Hmm, I could have heard Ed Broadbent loud and clear, throughout his political career, and more particularly when he returned to Politics and was outraged by what he saw. The accountability act was passed in parliment by all parties and in particular John Baird and Pat Martin worked tirelessly to get it done. So, that is the act. But when it comes to Accountability itself. Allowing Emerson to switch parties and become a Conservative Cabinet Minister, "that's right wing." Appointing a Conservative Bagman to the Senate and put him in a Cabinet Position holding lots of money "That's Right Wing" Doing what the Liberals did, and saying, well they did it, "That's Right Wing" Or is it not any more "Right Wing" then "Left Wing" and purely a sign of Bad Government bellying up to the trough again. That is populist, not right wing. Mike Harris and Preston Manning both disagree with the measure over income tax cuts vs the income tax increase they CPC invoked.Income tax increase...Right Wing Starting to recognise how silly this phoney hype against the mythical left is. Don't you think the "Right Wing" looks pretty incompentent raising Income Taxes. Particularly since I am doing my Taxes right now. Is that the best defence you can find? I would like the bar set higher then a failed Prime Minister.
  16. I watched Global News almost my entire life. From Peter C. Trueman on until Kevin Neuman. I stopped watching about 1.5 years ago, because the writing appeared stilted, and the language appeared like he was talking one step above baby talk when covering the news. I can't bring myself to watch their newscasts and ever since have been moving between CTV and CBC in the last 1.5 years. I just found that the scripting and commentary are nothing near the level that continued up until Peter Kent. So, I recall writing to them, explaining my lifelong viewership and Global recognised my concerns. But that was nice, and they continued doing the same, all the way up to #1. Shows you want I know. But, I still won't watch it.
  17. Geoffrey is correct. It is not a fashion statement.
  18. Thanks for the laugh. If Conservatives grab an issue first then the opposite view is "left wing" because the position of this new Conservative Party and their supporters is to create a distance by creating a mythical wedge. Yet the population remains the same and chooses whom they wish to vote for and keep them in power based on their results and track record. The rest is all rhetoric to keep you entertained. Or as Geoffrey put it, do people put away their Socialist beards and pick up a copy of Milt Friedman? Bottom line is that people are people. They work hard for a living and try to succeed. Some systems allow for more people the opportunities to succeed. Another open door or another step up. Regardless of the Province or the Government, these opportunities have been pretty stable since the 50s. And prior to this it was far more difficult for the immigrant to succeed. Frank Stronich landed here and made a fortune. Good for him, and he did it in a nation that created the opportunity for his success. I have been to capitalist market driven 3rd world countries that don't have red tape or handouts, but have huge investment Capital and little movement towards a middle class. The key to success is a trained, educated workforce capable of doing the task at hand. In Communist China, Legions of Trained Engineers and managers are able to replace those here today, as the Capital is invested in that country. So again thanks for the laugh, I understand why you use the name Jerry Seinfeild. It was a great rant, on a level Rick Mercer might give.
  19. Sounds like you have an good MP. Populist MPs are hard to come by. If you open of the market, you won't have a wheat board, which will be a market fact. Regardless of the spin, farmers voting do understand that you can only have one or the other and not both. They will have market choice or the wheat board and live with whatever the majority chooses. It is interesting to read that your riding doesn't take evangelicals seriously. So are you voting for the MP or the Party? The reason I ask this, is that Inky doesn't like some of the things the Party is promoting, which are things you favour such as position their on the wheat board. Yet there are a significant number of things that the CPC is doing that which you do not support. And so while I am aware you state their are no other political choices, is it the party or the member?
  20. I'm pretty sure he went over to the PC's According to Wiki ...... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inky_Mark You are correct Blueblood, as well as the person whom said he sat as an independent.
  21. No, I would say Mike Harris is and Mulroney to follow both PCers. Bob Rae is not as reviled as Mike Harris. Regardless I doubt if Bob Rae could win his seat against a Serious Conservative or NDP Candidate in a riding they hold in Ontario. Mulroney image hasn't yet faded in Ontario. He is still reviled. The Liberals selection of Candidates were more oriented towards the NDP policies, whereas they should have been looking for someone with a fiscally responsible record and without the ties to the parties criminal past.
  22. Exactly the policies that fiscal federal conservatives wanted and got. The media has accurately reported this. I don't recall a peep over this from the Reform Party, Canadian Alliance parties during this period. The criticism came from the Provinces, particularly both Bob Rae and Mike Harris. About as different as you can get.
  23. Are we to move to Alberta to do this? That might be a bit expensive. So I will keep the penny. This 1 cent cut to the GST is a penny ante crap to begin with.
  24. I disagree with this, it reminds me of Dick Cheneys view of economics and the current US situation. I don't find a comfort zone believing that Debt is largely irrellavant. However I do agree wit you that
  25. I still don't want an election. I think it is in the best interests of the country and the Conservative party to govern for at least another year.
