  1. He has won alot of elections under different circumstances. Regardless, someone misused his office. BTW Are you able to vote on Barley or just wheat?
  2. We are reading from the same page. He became Leader much like Stockwell Day, when the Reform and "Progressive Conservatives" pretended to merge and create the Canadian Alliance. He was a Progressive whom joined the Conservatives and lead the opposition. Clearly the intent was to persaud Progressives to join the newly named Progressive Conservative Party. While there was fallout, no different the what recently happened with the creation of the "Conservative" party, eventually progressive voters did accept the newly labeled party. And the Party did adopt many Progressive Values. Alot of the talk here is Semantics. You are right. So, who should have been the Liberal Leader? Elizabeth May
  3. They won one seat in Ontario 1993 and then lost it in 1997. It was the Social Conservatism that wasn't going over well, not being Anti-Ontario.
  4. Ironic that Western Canada brought the "Progressives" to the Conservatives and now are rid of the "Progressive" element of the Conservative Party. Really adapting the Liberal views that the Old Conservatives opposed. The Reform Party only managed 52 seats then 60 seats. So getting 65 seats in their first go the Progressives did pretty good.
  5. I wonder who was behind this one.
  6. I bet the above won't answer the question. Are the Conservatives wrong and the banks Right?
  7. I can always count on you for the conspiracy angle.
  8. never a bad thing. Curiousity quote
  9. This is much better than cutting the GST, IMO. Those are the taxes the Liberals have been cutting for years. So he is stating the same position as before. The GST was nothing more than an election gimmick that has reduced government coffers and gives me an extra copper piece in my pocket. Who would have thought that someone at the Canadian Club would suggest cutting Income and Business Taxes. Is Dion going to Raise the GST?
  10. Deleted
  11. That is true. The original poster failed to include "NDP" in the title. The NDP was campaigning on the $10 min wage in the 3 by elections. There is no Min wage increase on the Legislative agenda. The campaign was tested in the Toronto riding and they pulled off an upset. See Ontario Bi Election Thread.
  12. Wow, an honest, unspun, non partisan answer. This answer is so believeable and candid that I understand why you carry the MAD moniker. Thanks madmax
  13. Long as we are having fun.
  14. Great Deal for Henco.
  15. There you go. Flaherty is (hopefully) smarter than to be serious about this. Flaherty brought this up earlier, and there was a discussion on this forum. So I was surprised to see him follow through with this and meet the banks, thus bringing the issue up again. I do notice a split in peoples opinions on this. But the reasons are pretty varied as we saw in the discussions in the other thread a few months back.
  16. You say you hate them, and we have "choice". So is Flaherty wrong? or Is this an election gimmick?
  17. I think I should have made this one a poll. You too disagree with Flaherty. So do you believe this is an election gimmick?
  18. Precisely. The last thing we need is for the federal government to micro-manage the way banks charge fees. You believe the Conservative Government and Finance Minister Flaherty are wrong.
  19. Depends on what you mean by 'settling the claim'. Some people in SN have much more modest demands which probably could be settled without much harm. However, the claim made on this thread is $100 billion or land equivalent. I don't know of any six nations claim for $100 billion. I don't know anyone involved mentioning this figure. I didn't see this figure in the Spectator article. So if this figure came from some partizan website or such then, take it for what it is. If you have a valid source for this figure, I would be interested in seeing it. If it is in this thread, I am sorry I missed it.
  20. You don't know what it is like unless you live there. Those people you see on TV aren't from Caledonia. It is a guy from Richmond Hill who has no job and wants to make a name for himself and make money off his website by creating rallies and bringing in some likeminded individuals and taking over the Caledonia problems. Only they get to go home at the end of the march. People in Caledonia have caused no troubles, but their frustrations are real and need to be addressed. Only the turkeys make the news. McGuintys biggest mistake has been to show how quickly one can make a sweetheart deal with Henco and then do nothing afterwards.
  21. Who'd you vote for before?
  22. You do realize that that is the system the Taliban used.
  23. There has been a few threads on ATM fees and peoples opinions positive or negative regarding the banks and their needs. This Bank has told Flaherty and the Conservatives to go away. So are you saying that Flaherty should put more pressure on them? Or the Banks are correct and the Conservatives should just ignore what's going on?
  24. Don't waste your breath trying reply to troll bait. We have been having repeated trouble with a poster who has been banned from these forums, but is still seeking attention.
  25. You have to consider the source.
