I have a few questions. What are they doing when they steal the cars? Are they stripping them, Joyriding in them, Burning them, selling them, tranferring them to other Provinces/Countries? Why does it sound like it is just kids stealing?

Your putting me off. I pay $1700 for one vehicle. Used to pay that rate. We have begun deregulation. Now my delivery charge is close to that figure. My Hydro Bill is closer to the $200 range. I am on a well, HA!!! Gotcha! There is always some dumb ass who will critise these benefits. This sounds great. Ontario, could use some catching up. Once these benefits are gone because of outside pressures from idealogues, you soon discover you have none of the above, or are paying through the nose for the same privately. I find the constant calls from phone service suppliers calling anytime of day, soliticing business to be very annoying. I tell them I don't accept telephone solicitation, but they somehow believe they are better then other telemarketers and continue to annoy me with their calls. I always let them know that they can mail me their "deals". If they keep harrassing me, I find better words.

Anycar can be stolen, regardless of the anti theft devices.

Tories Release Dire Forecast on Kyoto
madmax replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You can find the article at it's source on Fox News. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,250789,00.html Once something hits FoxNews, it becomes very difficult to take it at face value. For a starting point, you can look up wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maurice_Strong Then I would look at other sources to back up what was read above. That should be normal for most of us using the Internet. Don't get burned sticking with a Fox News report alone. -
Mark Holland has a problem with the truth.
madmax replied to Michael Bluth's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Michael Bluth started this thread. It could have went into the Stockwell Day thread. But I am not certain if it had to be in the same thread. It is about a different person. -
The title is misleading. It isn't the first misleading title in this forum. I believe the intent of the title is to appear like a headline in a newspaper to get people to read. But if a poster continue to mislead the actual content with a false headline people will stop looking at the posters threads. That said, is Stockwell Day in difficulty or not? Will this go away?

Except that he was elected as a Liberal. Is he running again, and if so where? You could be right. Btw, what was Flaherty referring too?

Why don't you see the value in them? Is war everywhere and always expected to end when Canada's mission in Afghanistan ends? Should the Canadian forces stop upgrading and continue to slide in capabilities for ever? Should we keep driving around in old Leopards until they become like Seakings and present more danger to the crew than to the enemy? Why did we upgrade from postwar Sherman tanks when there was no war? Was there a value in upgrading then? As to the former question. Arriving after the mission ends, suggests this may not be money well spent. As to the Latter I hope this helps.

Greg Weston of the Toronto Sun was on Question Period on CTV today. The jist of it is, that the Conservatives brought this upon themselves. It has stuck in the media for over a week because the Conservatives have been evasive. The Television Media know this person well and roll their eyes over the excuses and positions that the Conservatives have given this person. She is a makeup artist and a psychic adviser.

I don't see the value in tanks that will arrive after the mission is over.

I found that Ricki Bobbi would have outrageous uninformed positions. He did have a sense of humour. I heard that he was annoying a number of people with behind the scenes antics. Yet I never received such treatment. We have had worse here publicly, however, you never know what happens in the Private Mails. Often when people are banned, they have a habit of reappearing as another name. Their past conflicts with others tend to show up in the answers and there is the possibility of history repeating itself. There was one person whom continued to return as various personas and would be banned repeatedly. What I notice is that these people tend to be extremists. Far right or far left if you will, or simply very opinionated personalities who's spend more time preaching then responding to a discussion. This is one of my postings where I look at the thread title and look forward to another poll.

Tories Release Dire Forecast on Kyoto
madmax replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
All this pretending by the opposition parties that Kyoto won't effect the economy is just stupid political game playing. For all the time it takes to reduce greenhouse emissions in Canada, that will be when the economic benefits will only start to begin. 'Everything takes longer than it takes" The article you directed me too doesn't say exactly what you have lead people to believe. Suzuki is responding to what the costs would be if Climate change wasn't addressed. You have misread the article. These quotes of Suzuki, have been repeated by him on Television. I watched him say the same things on MDL. I can understand the confusion. -
I am reminded of the Social Credit Party by your words. But those days are over. I believe your line of thinking would go well with this individual. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_C._Turmel

I understand your concerns. I don't think it would have been an issue had Harper not called Manning on such a thing, when the party was paying the tab. As a taxpayer, I am comfortable knowing that any PrimeMinister will have access to such modelling without further scrutiny. But you know the moment there is Red Prime Minister the Blue team will act petty. I don't think it is a problem to know the cost of such services. Too much of government spending is hidden from the public.

I don't know of a time when the environment hasn't been an issue. Mankind always affects and is effected by the environment. Conservationism isn't new. The difference today is that one party has one issue and claims to be the sole saviour of the planet. I will hold my vote, until I decide between health care and other.

Tories Release Dire Forecast on Kyoto
madmax replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
These are good points. One of the most troubling things about Kyoto, is that once the Government made a decision, they didn't implement anything. They just sat. I almost believe that the Liberal Plan was to let emmissions rise and just pay a bill at the end of the day. Here you go, we are doing our part, here is some money. There is little evidence to point to anything else. -
Tories Release Dire Forecast on Kyoto
madmax replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Here is an article regarding the Bairds Approach http://www.canada.com/victoriatimescolonis...ff-87163b8086ae What I don't like about this is that it appears that the government has chosen to cook the books. Jan 1, 2008? 275000 job losses by 2009? There has been that much job loss in Manufacturing the last few years, and not a peep from this government. These jobs are real losses, not just projected. The problem with a skewed report like this is that a credible argument regarding the Liberals dragging their feet, has been totally undermined by an irresponsible report that will undermine the Environment Minister. It would appear that few are taking the Ministers report at face value, or very seriously. -

1) The world is going to come to and end 2) If we try to do something about it, we will lose our jobs. These are the over the top arguements that I hear from the Green and CPC fearmongerers. Again the Liberals, like Afghanistan are trying to play both sides of the fence. They block as much Climate Legislation from getting done as they preach it should get done. The Conservatives are going to be dragged kicking and screaming into the realm of climate change. Talk of the end of the world is premature, yet that is no reason to continue to waste another year not addressing the issue. Fact is, until some Conservatives within the party actively seek out a solution, the Conservatives are left with nothing but fear mongering and trying find a way to convince Canadians that we really shouldn't be too concerned about Climate Change. I would have been more interested to see a plan by the Environment ministry that had some teeth, and then see what the finance dept position was on the plan. But clearly the intention of Baird was to shape the electorate. If the CPC are against Kyoto, as many CPC supporters in this forum appear to be then why haven't they just said, "We don't believe in climate change." "The end of the world is coming." -
I would be wary of any person who takes a pay cut to enter politics.

You are confusing Political Parties and good government. I don't believe their is anything like a Progressive Conservative Party in BC. In Alberta, there really isn't anything other than the Progressive Conservative Party. In Sask, the Progressive Conservatives ran such a disasterous Government that there is no longer a Progressive Conservative Party. In Manitoba, the NDP appears to have been doing a sound enough job that they could go for 3 terms in a row. In Ontario, No party has had to change their name in order to be accepted. Yet the NDP have not regained their status since the end of the Rae era. The Harris Conservatives are being run away from faster then you can say rumplestiltskin, and the McGuinty government is viewed as weak out of touch, and nothing accomplished in their 4 year term. Good Government has been in short supply, regardless of the parties in charge. People in Ontario are subject to consecutive poor performances from all the parties. As opposed to telling Westerners in Manitoba to Look East, perhaps people in Ontario need to look West. In the West there is currently a Liberal Government in BC Conservative in Alb Socialist in Sask Socialist in Man and all Provinces have difficulties, yet these provinces are going to be in better shape then Ontario will be by the end of 2007 if we don't wake up. Guyser, you are showing a bit of bias by suggesting that Manitobans look east. You could have said, look west to the other "successful" governments. This gives Manitobans lots of Choice without having to consider some pretty bad Ontario Governments over the last 15 years. But that is just my opinion

I was watching Global News this morning and they said that the Conservatives and the NDP were neck and neck in opinion polls. But no numbers were supplied. Anyone have an article?
-
I heard on MDL that Outremont is being mentioned. Hear are the 2006 results. I find it interesting that in this Riding the NDP finished ahead of the Conservative candidate. I have always thought that the NDP were a distant 4th or worse in Quebec.

It depends on what the objection is. If your neighbour can afford to pay, then that is a benefit that many don't have. There is nothing stopping a person from paying for a service. Private Clinics and Private Treatment have always existed in Canada. You can even go abroad or to the US if you want to pay for services. Many people have private benefits above and beyond. These benefits are often tied to pensions or to individuals working in larger companies. However, as happens so often, the benefits disapear when the company relocates or goes bankrupt. Many Pensioners and employees have lost their benefits in these circumstances. And they can't afford to pay out of pocket or even pay for similar benefits offered privately to individuals. With Regionally based health care, it is possible to see mobile MRI clinics. This would be a government bandaid to not providing MRIs in the local environment. This depends on where you live. Travelling medical care has existed before and exists today. The fact is that Funding for Health Care has decreased while Government revenues had increased. This was in direct relation to dealing with the deficit first, then, keeping the money and paying down the debt and offering large corporate tax cuts. These ideas are accepted by the majority in this forum. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Health Care isn't free, and it isn't cheap. Particularly if you are going to use a Private model, it will bleed you dry.

Interesting. When the Conservatives support is down jdobbin points to that. The comments above are from your own post. It would appear that Jdobbin pointed out that the Tories remain up. As for the comments about Ontario, the numbers have been going back and forth, much like the MPs switchin parties.
