  1. 50% right isn't bad. Yes, I did. Luckily I wasn't writing your bio. That was the intent. later max
  2. So far the majority position. Yes, I do believe that McGuinty knew that there was no possible way to implement all those promises, so each time he added another one, he had to know he was purposely misleading the electorate. I haven't seen Liberals engaged in socialism for many many years, short of using socialist talk to get elected. You have stated that McGuinty is a master of deception. I have been reading alot on John Tory lately, and whether you agree with him or not, he is talking about social issues, like an old red tory. I do know many in these forums do not like that approach towards conservatism. I have to admit, I made an error with the poll, What I should have added as a choice after "OTHER" was: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING or as some have told me in the short form: SFA. I have to admit, I find little that jumps out at me as to what the Liberals have done in Ontario.
  3. Tory has come across with such insinuations to crack down. Regardless, the prisons are disproportionally filled with Indians for all kinds of infractions. What cracking down on Indians means to Tory supporters, is to crack down on those Indians who challenge land titles. IIRC Fantino was very outspoken about how to handle the situation. Right up until he got appointed to handled it. The cracking down aspect appears in the media like a hot sell, but when protests of 20,000 people turn out to be under 500 in a hot zone, after media blitzes and tonnes of publicity, I think that it isn't as hot a sell as you may infer. There are a number of disputes in Ontario, but with regards to Caledonia, it is the Conservative rep federally who has been MIA. I do believe that Progressive Conservative Toby Barrett has been active along with John Tory, but to what degree and what effectiveness, is unknown. McGuinty totally blew this one. I have heard that the developer of the property was a Liberal Supporter who had a sweetheart deal with the government prior to development should it go wrong, since the land did have a claim on it. I have also heard that this guy Ken Hewitt was another Liberal shill trying to get the public wound up to support the handsome payout to the developer, who managed to get something like $26million or more, and having done very little. Soon after the developer was taken care of, I believe this Liberal Ken Hewitt disappeared, only to resurface later as a potential federal liberal Candidate. In the meantime, McGuinty must have thought his work was done, after purchasing the land back. The people of Caledonia, were left hanging for over a year, while people without negotiating skills where left to deal with he situation. High Profile Names such as Jane Stewart, but with little substance behind them. So heading into the election, I believe McGuinty is counting on the Federal Government offer to six nations to bail him out of his inability to act while the people of Caledonia paid the price. The majority of long time residents of Caledonia have lived next to the reserve for a very long time as neighbours, and have never had to deal with such polarizing animosity until now. Most of these problems they blame on the government. The new comers to Caledonia, tend to hold the blame against the Indians, for lowering their property values. Ironically, the recent reports tend to suggest that property values are rising in Caledonia regardless of the occupation of the douglas creek estates. McGuinty didn't take the position of six nations seriously at the start. Like many times in the past, (considering the number of titles in dispute), nothing ever came of a disputed claim, or a development might get stalled indefinitely, and a conflict never arise. There was no doubt that DCE was going to be a flashpoint before the shovels hit the dirt. Why it is alleged that McGuinty promised this developer a free ride is unknown to me.
  4. Well, I just thought it was time for a poll. Since the Ontario Parliment has packed it in early, I guess the election is on. I can't figure out why these characters couldn't work for another 3 weeks. Maybe this is a shortfall of 4 years terms. DOH!!! Maybe that could have been a poll. I don't believe there are alot of people "Living" in Ontario who post regularly in these forums so please state that you voted but post that you are not residing in Ontario. Got that Geoffrey..... Since I see you warming up to John Tory.
  5. You hide it well, if people read all your posts. Dalton the Dweeb. Anti Socialist Praise for Tory Dislike for Harris Dislike for Harper Dislike for Dion Dislike for Layton Business orientation. Anti Confrontation. Belief in the rule of law. Equality, are a few common factors in your posts. Your political persausion is one that many Canadians could hold and share throughout there lifetime. I don't think it's mine though. Just like my mad is different from your MAD. madmax.
  6. Sorry John. Don't agree with your comments. Link Source? You makin this stuff up? That links not good enough. Find another one!
  7. link? source? I thought you would be wise enough to back off on a losing comment. I did the search, I went on the Hansard page, I scrolled through all the crap to find the quote. If you think I made it up or took it out of context, then I will let you find it like I did. I believe it is May 15th in Hansard if you want to bother. It's recorded, its there, like everyone has said and quoted before and will afterwards. The source is Hansard, the link was not provided on purpose. Because everyone was quoting it, saying it was from Hansard, and only you were denying the words, I provided the Hansard text. The rest is nit picky for a talk forum. You could easily have found this yourself, but the scrolling is truly agonizing, unless you like to read the text in Hansard (don't have the time), until you find the golden quote. You are alone in your denial on this one, and it doesn't help your argument, that if you go against a budget, you get turfed. It is not unusual, it's been done in the past, and Peter MacKay said it wouldn't happen, not you. So why bother defending the undefendable?
  8. Sorry, I wasn't intending to accuse you of being one, didn't mean to paint you with the brush. I have to agree with your assessment. Standing up on principle for your constituents was a key plank the Reformers were trying to capitalize on, back in their days. Now that so many have become elected Conservatives, the values they held, have been lost. But you can really tell when a Politician is doing something he feels is right, vs grandstanding or selling out.
  9. Your 'proof' is an undocumented statement in the House of Commons by Jack Layton. Take that one to court. Hansard Mr. Speaker, what I suspect Nova Scotia and Atlantic MPs will do is support the budget because it is good for Nova Scotia. It in fact allowed the government of Nova Scotia to balance its budget this year. However, I can tell the member opposite what we will not do. We will not do what the Liberal leader did to the member for Thunder Bay—Superior North. We will not throw a member out of caucus for voting his conscience. There will be no whipping, flipping, hiring or firing on budget votes as we saw with the Liberal government.
  10. You sound like a Reformer. They're gone now, none left in the Conservative Party. All of them lost their tongues when the gained power. I am very surprised to see Conservatives on the East Coast speaking out more and more, like the Western Reformers did during the 90s. I have to wonder about all those Sasketchwan MPs who show up in the commons and sit, silently, saying nothing while their province doesn't receive what it was promised.
  11. That's quiet a statement. It doesn't make any sense to me. Judging by his usage thereof, I think Argus just likes to say "brown people" as often as possible. It's the closest he can get to making a derogatory comment without technically making one.... Normally I can follow Argus, not necessarily agree with him. I think we know that many of the Jews living in Israel have skin similar to the Arabs. I just think the statement is not only over the top, but confusing, and doesn't do anyone any good. It isn't even good Liberal Bashing material.
  12. I actually really wanted to, Now the truth comes out. So you want to vote in a Quebec Global warming party wanting to increase immigration to 500,000 poeple a year. Good one Geoff. No, I think he wanted to vote for a Pro Business, fiscally conservative party. But he can't. The party you describe above, is why he won't be voting Liberal.
  13. That's quiet a statement. It doesn't make any sense to me.
  14. Not a left-right issue. Tony Blair is an Israel supporter and he's strongly on the political left, for example. Shhhh... Common sense non-partisanship doesn't belong on these forums. Yeah, he's gonna have to stop that if he is going to post here.
  15. I am not certain any of these arguments are convincing. The title of this thread is rediculous. It makes me think of Austin Powers movies when I read this title.
  16. I think the public is running out of options when it comes to accountability. There is little defence for Blackburns miscalculation. He should simply say he errored. He wishes to maintain he is within the law. I don't know if this is what the general public had in mind when electing a conservative government. Of course everyone can do it, if he did it and this practice is allowed to continue. Why was it necessary to reward a fulltime worker with a government contract?
  17. If you ask her, she could win any seat in Quebec. Or Any seat in Canada, and everyone loves her and she loves everyone and every politician is her close friend, and she could have run in Quebec or ......... Regardless, if she was at 20% in Quebec, Dion would be happy to be in 5th. I bet Elizabeth May would be happy to give her 20% of those supporters to Dion, because they are such good friends. Now seriously, these numbers stink for Dion. Most numbers across Canada are not that good for Harper, but probably adequate enough. I am sure they would be higher if Harper wasn't so prone to making stupid, ignorant, and idealogical comments that serve no purpose to the electorate. Laytons numbers are pretty good, particularly when compared to Dion. He is nowhere near Ed Broadbent who was clearly the most popular leader in Canada, and those facts never translated into a landslide of seats, but simply the highest total seats ever for the NDP. So when people comment about the Liberal Polling numbers, being higher than Dion, this isn't good for Dion. Harpers numbers are similar to the CPC polling numbers. I think the fact that Dion is so weak, that he is holding back a party that could make a comeback, if it had and idea, vision and integrity. He has been unable to show integrity inside Quebec, regardless of his personal stature. Harper is different, his party is stalled, not falling, not gaining, and is stuck until they come up with an idea and vision. Their integrity is now getting challenged as the Canadian Public have lost any tolerance for wasting our money. Ironically this is now falling on the NDP to address as the Liberals words regarding accountability fall on deaf ears. Harpers numbers are stalled depending on opinion, that he hasn't implemented Right Wing Policies enough and his base is straying away. Or that Harper hasn't move far enough to the Center to garner the majority he desires. This could be why his own numbers have stagnated, but I don't know whether he needs to move to the right or further to the Center? I think these popularity poll figures of 36% for Harper are more a judgement Harpers public personality, and there isn't much anyone can do about this.
  18. I think the Conservatives are going to address the issue. It appears that this MP is standing up for his province. Almost a Reformist attitude for a Tory. I sometimes wonder what has happened to the Reform element in the Conservatives. Regardless I think the other two Conservative MPs are going to be looking bad electorally if they don't back their Province. So the Conservatives are going to have to do some fancing dancing or risk being persona non grata in the east. McKay doesn't need help losing his seat, but something like this may just put it in the hands of the opposition, oh yeah, no Liberal running. Brilliant Idea
  19. There are some incredible ironies going on. The Calendonia land claim, resulted in a developer getting a lucrative payout from the Province. A Group of Families who's land was used/turned over to the feds for an airport in WW2 has recently been offered to the Six Nations. Fact is, if the government gets your land you better kiss it goodbye, because you can't trust what they will do with it when it's time to return it to the proper owners. I trained at Ipperwash. I wasn't surprised to discover it was to be returned to the Natives but wasn't.
  20. You are going to see more Okas and Ipperwashes and Caledonias.... With regards to everything else you have said in this thread isn't worth the bandwidth.
  21. I would like to see Blackburns resignation.
  22. Haven't heard from you in a bit. Well worth the wait.
  23. I haven't the words to express what the families might be feeling. Politicians and this Defence Minister need to recognize the sensitivity and pain involved in these bumbling errors. We have our Canadian Forces working hard, fighting hard, and believing in this mission, and then a family has to face a level of (unintentional?) disrespect by our government.
  24. It has nothing to do with either of them. That was your queu to provide what is going on there
  25. Free Trade and Emerson deal taking it's toll in BC? Regardless B. Max, should you find a new country, the power of the internet will allow you to continue to post on these forums.
