Conservatives to table $40 billion deficit: CTV
madmax replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Send him over to the CPC right now, he'd be a perfect fit. -
That's correct. Eliminate the personal income tax deductions for donating to a political party.
-
Has the in and out scheme been proven as a violation of the rules? That is why I am of the believe like some others here, that all these subsidies have to be dropped. Otherwise it is constant scheming to get more and more of the publics money for their political party. Sure sounds like it to me.

Will MLW ever post the interview with Dion?
madmax replied to noahbody's topic in Support and Questions
I have tears in my eyes..... Yeah, I would like to read it too. -
Bev Desjalais maintained her vote which opposed the NDP position that it was a Human Rights Issue. While reprimanded, Bev Desjalais remained an NDP MP. The Link that Progressive Tory puts merely shows that Bev Desjalais, who maintained that she was speaking on behalf of her constituents, couldn't find these constituents at the nomination meeting where she lost to some other NDP candidate who won the nomination. Similar to Chuck Cadman losing the nomination in his riding. Like Cadman, Desjalais then ran as an independent. Unlike Cadman, she did not win her seat back. I don't believe the NDP secures nominations for any MPs, but lets the riding associations run their meeting and Candidates are expected to win their nomination battles. Thus a few ironies here. The CPC are known for kicking out Conservatives who vote against them. There is the oldest serving Conservative MP, kicked out because Harper broke his election promise and the MP called him on it and maintained his stand during the budget vote. This MP has since held his Seat as an Independent MP. Looking at LPC Leader IGGY.... The riding association clearly wasn't going to back the chosen one, who the LPC had eyes on for a future leadership candidate. The riding association values were tossed aside, undermined and the power of the party prevailed. Some may call it a blessing, but it isn't democratic.....

The CPC doesn't need tax money. No Party needs the tax payers money. The $1.95 needs to go and I don't care who does it. As for Harper knowing what he was doing...... lets see. Harper and Flaherty discuss with virtually no one within the party, their intent to cut the LPC off at the knees. A sneaky and bold attack to finish off a party in need of a major overhaul. However, as bullies often do, they don't know when to quit. Harper had just called an election to give him a mandate and he got one, not much of one, and it wasn't the MAJORITY he sought. His goodwill to work with other parties after this setback, quickly took a backseat to an opportunistic endeavour to kick the LPC while they were down in the fetal position. This attack, to behead the LPC with the removal of Public Funding, would provide the deathblow. Not considering the needs of the Canadian Public, the current economic climate, or remember that he governed over a majority, Harper strategically felt he had the upper hand and could do as he pleased, and that meant finishing off the LPC. The problem is that the final kick to the head was telegraphed, the LPC said, NO ... We won't lay here and take this fatal blow. We will, set aside our arrogant and corrupt ways as well as our differences with the BQ and NDP and work with them, to save our LPC BUTTS. Harper DIDN'T know what he was doing, or more importantly, when bringing up the issue, had no idea that the stars would align against him. His own party took offense to the partisan measure and the fact that the could lose power over this.... But the CPC could (with some hardship) continue on without this government handout. The CPC MPs were more upset that Harper/Flaherty had cornered the enemy and the enemy was fighting back. No Party needs government money more then the LPC. No political party is more dependent for its own survival on the taxpayer, then the LPC. Harper would never be tossed out for this policy by his own party, he would only be tossed out if he lost power by pulling a Joe Clark. (HE NEARLY DID, and may yet). Timing of the $1.95 had everything to do with it. If they had worked with other parties and broke the discussion with them first it would have been better. The Biggest problem is that ALL parties borrowed against the tax payer money. And this is what is wrong with the system. If you give a political party money, they will spend it. If you give them taxpayer money they will spend it. After a $1.95 it becomes, $2.50 then $5.00 and up and up and up as there is always an excuse to spend money and there is always justification to pick the tax payers pocket for selfish reasons. I do not believe that Harper would nearly Blow is first couple weaks as Prime Minister, move the pre budget vote, then put the country into a constitutional crises over a position he had no intention of following through on. It was only the fear of losing government that had him take it off the table, but it was too late. The LPC knew that Harpers intent is to go for the kill. It is political bloodsport 24hours a day 7 days a week for him. His political survival made him take it off the table, nothing else. I have no use for Liberals in need of a handout.

I prefer your suggestion. $160 to $240 going to the public purse on $800 contributed to the political party. At least they are putting into the public purse instead of taking from it. Of course the day this will happen is the day pigs fly. But I would love to see it.

Which is why King Span is going to stick it to them. Arresting Six Nations individuals on the site doesn't change King Spans perspective of ownership and full disclosure.
-
Bump An election may be on the horizon ...... and this could be a hot topic. It is one that resonates with the general Canadian Public.
-
A few things.... KingSpan feels mislead by the municipal government. Six Nations weren't consulted. King Span is going after whom they believe are ultimately responsible. The Injunction and police enforcement haven't resolved this problem, so that while Six Nations individuals were arrested, at the end of the day, it doesn't change the circumstances or facts surronding the dispute. (See PRovincial thread, where some Federal Public Servants, believe the feds have no role in resolving land claims ) Brantford City Council has some splaining to do. While Caledonia gets alot of attention, there are a few other treats in Brantford. Watch for some of these things to come forward in the near future....... like ties to Jane Stewart ------------------------------------------- Jane Stewart was first elected to Parliament in the 1993 election. She was a close friend of Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, and was soon appointed to the important position of Minister of Indian Affairs. From 2006 to May 2007 Stewart was chief negotiator for the province of Ontario in the Caledonia land dispute. [1] In July 2005, she left her job with the ILO to return to Canada and marry Henry Stolp. -------------------------------------------- Stolp is a real estate developer. A developer who pointed Sifton Properties to a piece of real estate that has a Six Nations Land Claim, 2 known and archaelogically identified Mohawk and Credit Methodist mission long houses. These details are historically accounted for in a 2002 documentary called "Written in the Earth". So for a good 6 years this evidence was out there for the two previous developers Brant Star and First Urban. Sifton Group paid a handsome fee for property with close proximity to the river, but is possibly some of the greenest property in the NW section which makes the KingSpan claim miniscule by comparision. The Question is, that if you have someone involved in Native Land Claims, from a Federal Level and then a Provincial Level, and her husband is an Industrial/Commercial Real Estate developer, do you think any "Shop talk" went back and forth? Some people purchase an existing home on the banks of the grand and next to the disputed property , knowing that development couldn't go forward because of the documented land claim. This information givin to them by "their" real estate broker. Imagine everyone surprise when...... Sifton Group provided a development plan for the region. At the Ward Meeting...... some fun stuff came out. Few of the 300 people in attendance supported the development. People from Six Nations appeared and one person asked a really simple set of questions to Sifton Properties. Q) Did you know that there is a federally recognized claim on the property. A) YES Q) Did you know that you are to consult with Six Nations? A) YES Q) Did you consult with anyone on Six Nations? A) NO -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So compared to King Span, who claim to be totally in the dark..... Land Developer Sifton Group appear to be totally informed. Exactly how much Compensation should Sifton Group receive for their "HardShip" or should they be subject to an occupation, future hardship? Many companies are looking at the Henco Windfall. Sifton Group likely believes that they can have it both ways. Develop against the wishes of the community and make a fistful of dollars or having landed a beauty of a piece of conflict property, get the government to pay them for their "suffering". I wonder if Sifton Group would have went after this highly disputed property without the participation of Jane Stewarts husband. Jane Stewart who had the inside track to Six Nations land claims having been both Indian Affairs Minister and a Provincial Negiotator. This is just one story in Brantford, there are a number of others. But they are still small compared to Caledonia and the shafting the inhabitants have received there by their own governments.

Online voting increases voter turnout minimum 30%
madmax replied to CAMP's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Many people sitting in cushy soft jobs with sizable paychecks courtesy of the taxpayers are happy to see low voter turnout and keep their overpaid and under scrutinized jobs protected from prying eyes or questions. -
Flaherty and Harper support LARGE DEFICITS. Much like Rae and Mulroney..... What's your point?

Who Should be the Next Conservative Leader?
madmax replied to Progressive Tory's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Dear victims of SPIN...... The first article is a repeat of an article from Early December Last year, BEFORE, Dion took ownership of the coalition and screwed it up. Had the media had a crystal ball, they would have been making articles about how long Dion can last as Leader of the LPC. The 2nd and 3rd articles provided are Late November and Early December articles, not current ones. Looking back During this period Harper had messed up royally, and his MPs were blaming him for what could result in their loss of power. All said it was Harpers mess and he had to fix it. So, my question to Progressive Tory, why would you start a new thread on 3 articles that were covered last month and quickly went to the back burner with the rise and fall of Dion? The coalition had the Conservatives on their heels, but they lost their momentum with Dion, and Harper successfully put himself first and Canadians LAST when he chose to prorogue parliment. Thus many of those doubting thomas and nervous nellies comfortably went off to their latin and caribean holidays to enjoy their tax payer funded holidays. Conservatives really aren't talking about replacing Harper, not until another Screw up, which he is prone to do that is... -

Having seen the response from many "Conservatives", to your posts, one can argue that you are not a Conservative. -
I know that Harper has kicked out MPs. Who has Jack Layton Kicked out???

Support for a Coalition Goverment Now at 50%
madmax replied to gordiecanuk's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The Irony of this thread is... Yes Canadians Support for the coalition is over 50%. However, in the same article..... Canadians support for an election is higher then the support for the coalition. In other words, Canadians are accepting the coalition, just don't let it happen -

Harper's Best Fiscal Stimulus Package: Cut Taxes
madmax replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I am not exactly certain how Harpers Fiscal Stimulus package got changed to the war of 1812? Perhaps that is a good way to get off topic of the goals of the CPC fiscal policy, which is to run deficits. However, the US invasion of Upper/Lower Canada was nothing short of a disaster, and the end of the war, nothing more then a face saving measure for a recently minted sovereign state. Nothing worse then having a war that gets off to a stumbling start, and is backed up only be rhetoric without support. It was a war that few wanted, most of all those who did trade and tended to ignore the "borders" and governance of two self -inflated and disconnected governments. Thankfully the failure of the US invasion, set up the future for a Country Called Canada. So, thanks to our American Friends for that helping hand, or who knows what we might have become by 1867? -
You sound like a public sector employee.
