  1. Right, because calling for the assassination of a sitting PM is on par with agreeing with the vast majority of the world's scientists.
  2. I'm going to agree with msj on this one. There is virtually nobody in my generation (I'm the same age as Trudeau) who doesn't know the Tragically Hip. They were ubiquitous in the 90's and I can say this as someone who lived in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal during that decade. They were definitely a national phenomenon.
  3. My condolences, Topaz. Your post touched me deeply, I weep for you. You are in my thoughts.
  4. 5) I couldn't give a hoot.
  5. Oh the man is Muslim you say? Oh golly gee, an Afghan, you're right! No no no, I hadn't even noticed, I would never say anything about Muslims. Oh all those other threads where I did? Pshah! Never.
  6. Oh poochy, such eloquence.
  7. If nurturing violent tendencies is a way to get boys to achieve academically, I say let them fall behind.
  8. Rex Murphy: A victory won't tell young girls that if they work hard, they can become president. It will send the message that if they marry well enough, they can become president.

  9. It's not a strawman. GHuxley has openly expressed his desire to maintain Canada's roots as a Eurocentric country so anything he has to say about empty houses and unpaid taxes has to take into account that this is a poster with personal biases against non-Europeans.
  10. Many a times you've said your issue is about maintaining "Canadian" culture but what I'm getting in your post here is that your issue is empty houses and unused citizenship cards. So are you now basically saying that you don't have a problem with Chinese families who actually want to raise a family in Canada or is it just their Chineseness that bothers you?
  11. Oh I don't know. Perhaps a 5 minute preliminary telephone interview?? Honestly TimG, you really are letting go of a lot of talent basing things on names alone. I remember working in an accounting firm years ago when a couple of the managers were throwing out resumes with 'Paki' or 'Chinese' names and I was aghast. I asked how I ever made it through the door and they openly said someone else was in charge of hiring when my resume came in. Meanwhile I grew up right here in Canada and I am great at what I do. With post like yours, it's no wonder I get all my business from referrals. You're really losing out with your prejudices.
  12. Way to go Celtic fans. It's nice to see the other side of the pond call a spade a spade.

Cause rioting at a sports game would never happen without politics... <rolling eyes>

My point is that it shouldn't be encouraged. Why would you support that?

  13. Now May is considering quitting GP over BDS. That'd be funny, 3 parties without a leader. King Trudeau foreva!

There is no logical basis for supporting boycotting Israel while gleefully snapping up bargains from China. The sole basis for singling out Israel is anti-semitism. Scratch a BDS supporter and you find someone who loathes Jews but hasn't got the balls to admit it.

Not that everyone who supports BDS is an anti-semite. Some of them are just shallow and ignorant.

  14. That video was brutal. 'SJW's think he can't rape because he's a minority'. WTF??
  15. Argus, your link has nothing to do with your OP.
  16. Yes, but his campaign didn't emphasize on it, the voter and the media did. Hillary's campaign on the other hand has made her gender a huge part of the campaign starting from her slogan to the whole theme of the DNC. Now they want to cry misogyny over anything that is said about her. They want it both ways, it seems. They play the gender card when it suits them and they use it against anyone who isn't enamoured with a highly unlikeable candidate. Obama's campaign did nothing of the sort.
  17. I contrasted Obama's candidacy as first black president to HRC's candidacy as first woman president in post 41 (two after the one you quoted) and offered why I think he would have faced the same backlash if he'd emphasized his race as much as HRC did her gender.
  18. Um, what do you think #I'mWithHer is all about?
  19. You're welcome to that opinion and I respect that, but regarding your OP, I'm saying the backlash isn't necessarily because she has a vagina, it's because she continually reminds everyone that she has a vagina. Let's put it this way... Obama made history by becoming the first black president and everyone talked about it and it was awesome to see a black president. But his campaign wasn't based on his skin colour, it was based on him, the qualified candidate. For the voter, if he happened to make history, great. If he'd put so much emphasis on his race as HRC did with her gender, he would've faced the same backlash and it would be unfair to cry racism when people talked about it (which is equivalent to what your OP is doing).
  20. I posted earlier about your OP that instead of focusing on HRC the candidate, this campaign has focused on HRC the 'first presidential woman candidate'! I said that she has played the woman card to no end and if it's coming back to bite her, she has nobody to blame but herself. I then added that while she's made herself the role model for little girls (which she did throughout the convention), then my opinion is she sucks as a role model. In your response you chose to ignore the first part of my post and only commented on the role model part and now you're asking why the discussion veered this way? Feel free to acknowledge my earlier point: Men don't make campaigns about their penises (other than Trump), which probably plays a great role as to why they don't face the same backlash. Clinton would've been smart to just be HRC the presidential candidate instead of HRC Wonder Woman.
  21. Well, in that case I'm not sure why you this earlier: In your opinion. . Seems it's your opinion too.
  22. We were on the subject of role models, and yes, I do believe a good role model is my daughter is someone who does not stay with a husband who humiliates her over and over again throughout their marriage. You're free to think that's a positive trait in a woman, I'm just talking about what *I* respect in a woman. And no, I didn't say she got to where she is because of Bill, I said I would've preferred a first-time woman president whose First Gentleman is not an ex president. Downplay it all you want, she is not entirely self-made.
  23. So you think that the term 'shit-skin' has the same connotation as 'brown-sugar'?
