  1. I would be very surprised if Liberals lose the throne. BC'ers seem to have become like Albertans in their one-party predilections.
  2. In our profiles, apparently. You also have to go to someone's profile to respond or read the responses. The status updates are definitely inferior to the previous system and given the lack of responses on the current updates, I think other posters share my sentiments. What I do like about the forum - on my phone at least - is that it has better browsing capability. The mobile site didn't show a lot of the details so I would browse in full mode and use mobile to post. The new site is the best of both worlds and I don't have to switch back and forth. I also like the activity function which we didn't have before. Bummer about the updates though.
  3. It's growing on me. I haven't spent much time on the desktop but on my phone its definitely better.
  4. ETA- kimmy I had quoted a post of yours from last page but it seems to be gone. See below. It's interesting you don't mention the Democrat candidates. John Kerry and Obama are decent people too but I have my doubts about Hillary and Bill Clinton. Trump is in a class of his own though. Even makes the Clintons look good. Im on my phone and it's difficult to quote but here it is: "I didn't support Mitt Romney and I disagreed with his views, but I never doubted that he was a decent person. I supported John McCain, and I believed that he was a decent person. I didn't agree with G.W. Bush or think he was a very good president, but I believe that he is at heart a very decent person. I believe that Bob Dole and G.H.W. Bush were decent and honorable men. I don't believe that any of that can be said of Donald J Trump. His policy ideas, such as they are, are idiotic... his history in the world of business is utterly reprehensible, and his moral character as a human being is utterly disgusting."
  5. Correct. It's only obsolete in my life in the sense of going to the ATM and requesting it out of my account. The only time I use "Cash" is on a Balance Sheet.
  6. Lots of men may lie about their sexual conquests but lots of men do not lie about sexually assaulting women. FYI, grabbing a woman by the pussy without her consent is sexual assault. Just let that sink in for a minute.
  7. It was a joke. As in it's so obsolete in my life I don't even know what it is.
  8. OMG, so like a rich old man is hoping to hire a sexy PA hoping to have a little side action with her?? The horror! My virgin eyes will forever be scarred reading this thread but I still think there is still no discrmination. That's a huge stretch.
  9. I'm pretty sure it's textbook definition of racism to believe that one's culture is superior and do not want mix with 'inferior' cultures. Given Trump's supremacist and xenophobic beliefs, I don't know why people feel a need to deny the obvious. And if you really don't think he's racist, I'd be curious where you draw the line. Burning crosses and hanging people from trees?
  10. I don't see the issue with this. I think the guy who was requesting a certain cup size might have done himself more of a disservice by not indicating why but that's his problem. As you may recall, I agreed with HRC that there is a gender-discrmination component for restaurants that hire both men and women yet stipulate sexy attire for the women, but there is no such discrimination in a case like this. Hiring attractive people In itself is not discriminatory. As for the line about the codes words actually meaning 'young' and discriminatory - bullocks. Lots of jobs ask for mature candidates and nobody yells discrimination then.
  11. Spinach Manicotti. Delicious! I'm a vegetarian but my husband eats seafood so I'll have him try the lobster ravioli next time and let you know how it goes.
  12. Agreed. CIA declassified information has openly acknowledged America's role Operation Ajax. The British were concerned because the secular Iranian government's vote to nationalize Iran's oil would jeapordizing Britain's control of Iranian oil and the US joined because they were worried that by pulling away from the west, Mossadegh was going eventually fall behind the Iron Curtain. The USSR wanted Mossadegh, Ajax was directly against their interests. http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/19/politics/cia-iran-1953-coup/
  13. Iran had a thriving economy and was on the verge of nationalizing its oil when the US-British backed coup resulted in the Shah who was a dictator who tortured and killed people. The religious takeover was essentially a fraud. The mullahs were not supposed to be anything but religious symbol and asked after the revolution if Khomeini was regretful that he lied to the people, and he said no, he did it in the name of Islam (Taqiya). The oppression that ensued is history. External factors played a much bigger role than you're willing to admit. Their anger at the western nations that instilled the Shah created the perfect breeding ground for the Mullah's takeover. It's also unfair to say that it's ultimately their culture that makes the country what it is. Many are risking their lives every day to bring change.
  14. Sorry, I was rushed as I read your post yesterday. In theory, I guess I agree with it, in fact, in theory I think every man should have some kind of right to a fetus carrying his DNA. However, I don't see how that it could be implemented short of restraining a woman against her will for 9 months and making her give birth; an act which I would consider to be a highly cruel and unusual punishment. So no, as much as I agree with the notion that life begins at conception and I believe we are generally way too frivolous about abortions, I think ultimately it's a woman's choice to carry a baby to term.
  15. Thanks for recommending Rosa's. You're right, what a gem.
  16. No, I don't think a woman should ever be forced to have an abortion against her will, even if the fetus is conceived through a criminal act perpetrated by her.
  17. Smart people don't like Trump. But no, I'm not calling anyone dumb.
  18. Some people got an A in economics and understand very well when other people are being irrational about the sky falling when in fact the measures in place are put there to ensure that the sky does not fall.
  19. This issue is typical Trump putting his foot in his mouth and blaming everyone but himself for saying something stupid. Maybe he should've said something along the lines of "some people are fortunate" but no, he said the people who can handle it are "strong". Of course the world is a big bad evil place for saying his choice of words were inappropriate. No sirree, it couldn't be his wording that was not well thought out.
  20. And some people are really irrational if they stop travelling or buying clothes just because the groundwork has been implemented to ensure that your new neighbours don't forfeit on their mortgage.
  21. I'm not a smug Liberal supporter who thinks the budget will balance itself. Maybe you haven't been aware but I've been tremendously critical of Morneau's spending, but I do think this decision was a good call and I do so for the same reason I am critical of Morneau - I believe in responsible borrowing. Most people lack to restraint to consider a rate hike and they are taking out the maximum they can afford under the current interest rates (my link earlier discussed this). To continue down the same path will have catastrophic consequences should rates go up. As for the issue of 32% of income, I'm not sure if you are being deliberately misleading or if you really didn't understand my point. Yes, it's 32%, but the new rules will ensure that people will not go over 32% in the case of a modest rate hike. As such, people are not forced to forfeit on their mortgages if rates go up in a year or two.
  22. No, he doesn't. With that frown and the dollar bill, he looks like a greedy old guy. But my point is that they are all stereotypical caricatures. I saw the public sector proponet exactly as you did in your post above. Clued out.
  23. More than 50% of Canadians could not afford a $200 increase in their monthly expenditures. The stress test is what the banks ought to be doing on their own but since they won't, it has now been legislated.http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2016/09/28/canadian-debt-levels_n_12235290.html It'll be great in ensuring that there isn't a meltdown down the road because because people should not be taking on mortgages if the maximum they can afford is historical rock bottom interest rates. Also, if you think the prices across Canada are fine, then there is nothing to worry about in those markets.
  24. The free enterprise guy was supposed to be mostly over 55 and mostly men. That's how I read that frown. And what about the Permissive Reformer with the frizzy hair holding a sign? You really think that's a positive image?
