What really makes this interesting is two things: 1. Their health minister just abruptly quit yesterday before this announcement was made. I am only guessing but perhaps people in their heath care system might not agree with Legault? 2. This tax only applies to unvaxxed meaning you can get one shot and not pay it. In my opinion its a scare tactic as they know it will be tough to legal pass this.

By your logic, anyone who can breath Covid on you should be taxed. So that means EVERYONE would be taxed. Do you not get it yet or are you not informed on the transmission rates. Here...let me help you out with stats from your own province: Past week cases (Jan. 3-9) - Total 19,206 Not vaccinated: 3,125 (16.3%) Partially vaccinated: 597 (3.1%) Fully vaccinated: 15,484 (80.6%) 77.7% of people are fully vaccinated and they have 80.6% of the cases. Are they spreading it more....no but they are spreading it the same as the unvaxxed. I think you're using old data as its off by a bit. When they do their 'adjustment for age' it shows the rates for unvaxxed hospital at 33.1 and for the fully vaxxed at 5.8 yielding a 5.7X difference (not 7) Of course three key things to note: 1. These rates have been changing drastically over the last few weeks. For example, on Dec 31st this rate was 13.0. On Nov 1, it was 22. Now its down to 5.7 (even changed from 7 when you last saw). Key point....it won't be long before that rate is 1 meaning the vaccinated rate is the same as unvaxxed 2. As I stated above, those rates they like to flaunt are 'adjusted for age'. This method is a statistical maneuver the government is using to make the numbers look better for the vaxxed because we know that Covid affects the elderly more (and the elderly are higher vaxxed). When you look at the raw numbers you actually see how close it is getting: Past two weeks cases hospitalized (Dec. 27 to Jan. 9) - Total 422 Not vaccinated: 135 (32.0%) Partially vaccinated: 15 (3.6%) Fully vaccinated: 272 (64.4%) Keep in mind 77.7% of people are vaccinated and the hospitals have 64.4% vaxxed in them. Curious to see what this looks like next week. PS....this is pretty much the same in the other provinces too. You mean those 135 people are taking down BC health? If that is true then you guys have much bigger problems. Or...could it be the 287 partially/fully vaxxed in the hospital. Or could it be the fully vaxxed workers who are not at work because they contracted Covid even though a true vaccine would stop that. Maybe its time the vaccinated start to accept responsibility for their part in this!

First...are you willing to admit that the stats they provided are flawed from a statistical point of view? If so, do you think its ok for our government to be flaunting manipulated stats? As per your question....I get the reason why the entire scientific community and governments wanted to vaccinated everyone at the start. Information and data was scarce and no one was really sure of what this was. Now that we are entering round 2 (round 1 was always going to be 2 doses), we now have data not just on Covid but also on what the capabilities and the inabilities of the vaccines. So why wouldn't the governments switch their approach to a more focused vaccination group? Because its always easier to get the whole group to do it rather than singling out unhealthy people. If the vaccines stop spread and stop severe infection then they look like heroes. However in this case it did not stop spread nor did it stop serious illness for those that took it. So when it comes time for Round 2, there will be alot more people not eager to take the booster including those that have pre-existing conditions (and those are the people we want taking it). I don't agree or disagree with the various theories out there as to why the governments push these. For Canada, our health care is publicly funded, so if shit goes sideways then the government is responsible (hence the ultra proactive position of Canadian goverments). Whereas in the US, the health care is private and is not a responsibility of the State. That is where you see forward thinking governments actually taking the more focused approach.

The only thing misleading here is your post. Not sure if you are even aware of it or if you are deliberately propagating this BS so I will walk you through this for your benefit. As per the claim, the data starts December 14, 2020 when the vaccine rollout allegedly starts. However, take a look at the vaccination curve on the national level: You will note that although the program started in December of 2020, a significant number of Canadians didn't even receive their first dose until June. It wasn't until the end of July that most people got their second dose. Now lets look at the hospitalizations: Visually speaking, the bulk of the hospitalizations occurred in the two middle waves which stared Nov 1, 2020 and ended roughly Jun2 2021....right when vaccination percentages started to actually be a factor. The death total is very similar: Again, look at the yellow section which are deaths included in their data but all occurring at a time when vaccination levels were quite low. The bottom line is they use stats like this to add to the fear mongering and appeal to people like you who blindly following thinking.....wow, the vaccines are perfect. The best comparison of this stat would be to measure the hospitalizations and deaths from a period where the effects can actually be compared and NOT including statistics from a time when vaccines weren't even a factor.

Cases and spread are no longer attainable through vaccination. Only hospitalizations. We know two things that affect hospitalization: 1. Vaccines work for a certain window but wane 2. People are more at risk of serious infection (ie hospital/death) if have pre-existing conditions or are over 65. As you can see, numerous vaccinated people are ending up in the hospital. Again, this could happen no matter how many boosters they have but more than likely, these people have vaccines that have waned. For the unvaccinated in the hospitals, you can argue the same thing. Educate people on these two facts so that the people in those categories are taking boosters and not trying to cram them down the throats of healthy teenagers. I'm sure you look at me (being unvaxxed) as crazy for not taking it however I look at people who are elderly and/or with pre-existing conditions in the same way. I am not anti-vaxx on the whole, I just believe that certain people statistically are fine without it and others, again statistically speaking, need it. In fact I have been a very large vaccine advocate to friends and family who are known to be vulnerable. I have been equally opponent to people trying to vaccinate their healthy kids. I had an overweight, diabetic associate that ended up in the hospital with Covid. He told me after that he wasn't vaxxed because he thought he didn't need it. When I showed him the stats on diabetics and obesity resulting in hospitalizations, he quickly said he should have been vaxxed. For some reason though, our governments are intent on having EVERYONE vaccinated instead of pushing these stats and risking offending people. Just as a side note, CDC Director was quoted today stating that 75% of the deaths in the US are with people that have four or more co-mordities. In Alberta, the stats show 97% of the deaths are people with 3 or more. If the government started pushing the education of co-morbidities as much as they slander the unvaccinated, then we might actually get out of this thing.

Actually the data from Israel and the UK would prove you wrong. Their vaccines waned in a similar time frame and a similar way with Delta. Lucky for us, Omicron is the major variant we are dealing with rather than Delta. With that said, I would there may be a case that Delta is more prevalent than we think (especially in Ontario) as they aren't sequencing every case. I think that is safe to say (as the graphic below shows it). It would be interesting to see the data on who's in the hospital by age and vaxx breakdown. It might actually give more conclusion to this.
-
If numbers don't then why have pro-vaxxers been flouting numbers for months now? This makes zero sense. 75% of being are double vaxxed and 70% of people are in the hospital. This isn't complex. Its very similar to the argument you and I had on the cases about a month ago where you kept showing me the arcs on the graph. Those arcs have now flipped and the hospitalizations are close to be the same. Have you seen this data yet? Ontario said they were going to break this out last week but I haven't seen it yet. I know when they broke this data out in the UK it reduced the numbers by 30% but both vaxxed and unvaxxed reduced by the same amount.

Actually that’s not true at all. I hoped the vaccines worked like true vaccines and prevented infection. I was truly hoping that by September we’d be past this thing however the one thing that worries me about the vaccine from the start actually came true. It only works for a while and then you’re back to square 1. I told my friends that if everyone in the world could take their shots all at once then I’d get it. That of course wasn’t possible so we now see it circulate.
-
The present tense data is showing these vaccines do not stop infection. They’re very close to showing they don’t stop hospitalizations. I’m guessing in a few weeks we will see they don’t stop ICU infections either. I can agree that boosters will return some of that protection but I’ve heard it only lasts 10 weeks. Then what? Another booster? And another?
-
For how long though does this protection against serious illness last? LOL. A few months ago everyone was talking about the cases being the issue such that the unvaxxed had a significantly higher percentage. Then they moved on to hospitalizations as the numbers were still there to support that. Now, the only category left to parrot is the ICU which like you said are almost equal. However, like the other two categories, you should be watching the rates of change and not necessarily the numbers themselves. For example, in Ontario a month or two back the ICU percentages were roughly 10% fully vaxxed and 90% unvaxxed. Today its almost equal. What do you think tomorrow will bring?
